In SV era the light packs are actually higher hit rate. In 151 the holo energies are pretty heavy, they can still have hits of course but it makes it harder to know if heavy packs are just energies or if they are hits. That said, from my experience there are hits throughout all pack weights.
thank you..someone who actually knows..all the SIR / SAR will come from the light packs the heavies will be holo energies and v cards ... gold cards weigh the most
@@mech0pwhat do you mean scan the box. Scanning don't show the content of a booster pack. And it's not weighing. So really want to know what your on about. ?
Given the different foil pack variations as well as the randomly inserted cosmo holo energies, I feel they made weighing 151 almost impossible to find guaranteed hits. With a holo and a double reverse in every pack makes weighing almost impossible as is but the extra precautions should make it for next to impossible
We had this issue back in the day at less than reputable card shops with original sets. There would always be open booster boxes on the counter with all light boosters. The shops would weigh them, open the heavies and put the holos in the case, and put the lights in the box to sell for $2.99. I was way too young to realize or know about this back then but I'm glad it's less common now. Source: older friends that i have now, who worked in card shops and did this. They said it was common practice and talked about between shop employees.
The weight difference is probably mostly due to paper density not being 100% uniform, and the foil layer could be affecting in other cases. Remember that reverses and regular holos use the foil too. Then there's also different dye weights, so if certain dye in pack is prevalent it might tip scale for 1g or more. Ofc there's also package weight and scale precision in play as well. Too many variables in play and it still comes down to gamble at the end of it all.
My guess was that the SV sets have code cards of varying weights with identical prints on them or that it’s something to do with the pack itself (I’ve noticed some packs feel different from others). The fact all the medium packs had holo energies is definitely neat and a great equalizer.
TH-camrs like this guy is the reason why all stores say 151 are SOLD OUT/OUT OF STOCK of stock, in fact with many of the things out of stock not just the 151,s.
@ethan2630 yes it is. But it's taking away from kids that actually want to start collecting for themselves.. funny how your comment got a highlight but mystic couldn't reply. 🤣
Not sure what channel did it but they weighed each individual card of every type and using a excel spreadsheet to calc you could take the weight of a pack and figure out what combination of cards were in the pack based on the weight
The weight varies drastically between the pack foil, energy card, code card, Ex, and RH so it’s impossible to predict. The SIR and UR and C/UC have predictable weights but that’s
Maybe the code card is the equalizer to prevent scammers. Or maybe a full art holo and non holo are just insignificantly so close to the same weight now? Either way I’m jealous u got to open all those packs lol
If you watch the other video you'll notice Its the exact same footage, we just recorded both videos at the same time :) just removed alternate parts of the video depending on which one was being edited first
It sucks that the regular holographic cards are not considered to be rare anymore. To me, they're still hits, because regardless of how everything is done now, they're still holographic. And weighing packs just ruins the whole surprise, but once in a good while is alright, I think. I wish they still had regular rare cards, and I wish secret rares didn't take up 1/3 of the set. But all that aside, I do love how beautiful a lot of these new cards are, especially up close in person. :)
I watched a video where someone weighed individual trainers and energies from 151 and they each weighed slightly different per pack that's how they fixed it. I'm glad they did though.
@@mysticrips that wasn’t the point. The point is 2 videos made from the same pack opening lol the first 151 opening and this one are the same just cut up different is what I’m tryin to get across lol

Energy cards, code cards, and pack foil all vary. Similarly the RH actually have two different weights. Therefore, even if you know the weight of the SIR/UR you’ll never be able to guess. The only thing you can know is the heavier packs will have the holo energy.
From a printer point of view, I believe it’s completely random and a myth. Darker colours like deep blues and navy’s require more ink to print making the card itself heavier. Whereas yellows, lighter greens and pinks for example use much less ink resulting in lighter cards.
A colour with a larger percentage of cmyk can increase the weight of a printed surface by up to 1 gram. Like I said, I’m a print technician using print terminology. Who knows if it’s correct or not, but pokemon cards are PRINTED (and foiled whatever you say bud)
Try weighing the code cards 🤔 curious if that’s where the weight is changing since some lighter packs had double hits and even a god pack and most of the heavier packs didn’t have any hit
Regular hollows are hits. Let’s not forget about that just because it’s not a full art or what ever you want to call it. when people say that they’re spitting on base set
It's funny that you say you don't condone weighing packs but at the same time you're showing the scammers exactly what strategy to use if they wanna keep the more likely hits to themselves 🤣
One thing that I'm curious about is the thickness of the wrapper contributing to weights. Some of the wrappers are the typical really thick SV quality but other wrappers have been the thinner quality from before SV. is there a difference between heavy and light packs of thick wrappers vs heavy/light packs of thin wrappers?
VERY SMART!!! That’s a HUGE cost…but building 2 videos out of it…very very smart. It’s why I’m still small and you’re huge. I’m following you a lot closer. You’ve been giving GREAT insight.
