I've been considering a Primaluna Dialogue HP integrated, and then was inspired by Kevin's video suggesting to combine it with PS Audio's Gain Cell Preamp. I've been looking at the PS Audio Stellar stack as well. A paced upgrade path for me, could also be to maintain my Audiolab 8000Q preamp, together with a Primaluna amp, in the same fashion as Upscale has proposed with both PS and Mytek preamps. The HP amp looks to share the same tube configuration as the HP integrated and to much degree the HP preamp. I am curious what is the role of the bank of front end/rectifier tubes on the amp, when to a neophyte like me, these are already accommodated for on the preamp, much as they appear to be on the HP integrated.
I have the EVO 200. He is right, It has amazing punch. I do have KT88’s in it, it is driving a set of Martin Logan ESL’s . It has a level of detail I could never have imagined. It’s the low end punch that has really surprised me. If you are looking to buy an amp, my advice check out the Prima Luna EVO series. I live in Australia have no connection with Kevin.
One question, shouldn't also the amplifier get the 5AR4 rectifiers tube? in my, admitted limited, understanding they should be as important in the amplifier as they are in the preamp.
@@wamgoc3637 I have 10 tube hifi amps and four tube guitar amps and will say tube rectifiers sound more natural, bigger sound stage, etc. SS rectifiers will give more headroom and watts but sound too brittle with a smaller sound stage.
do you only need this over the non HP if the latter can't play loud enough or will this one still be better at the same listening levels? i surely don't need the power this one offers but i somehow think its just better, is that correct?
Please help. I have a Primaluna 400 with power UR 88 watts and TR at 50 per channel respectively. Ordered Martin Logan ElectroMotion ESL X that has Recommended Amplifier Power of 20-400 watts per channel. Will Primaluna 400 be match enough?
Not a bad product, but my experience with Upscale Audio has convinced me to trade in my PrimaLuna for something that is represented by a company who means what they say, says what they mean, and actually stands behind their product(s). Upscale Audio, I'm afraid to say, does none of that. One of Kevin's often-used catch phrases is that "I will treat your system like it's my system", while simultaneously forcing folks like me to wait upwards of a month to simply get a replacement remote control, when mine up and died on me after only having my PrimaLuna for 3 months. Keep in mind folks, you cannot put your PL amp in Triode mode (my preferred mode) without that remote control (a notable design flaw, in my opinion). Would Kevin / Upscale Audio get a new one coming to me right away to keep the customer up and running while the issue was sorted out? Nope. They don't trust or care about their dealers or their customers nearly enough, sadly. I have heard the rumors leading up to my PrimaLuna purchase, but had to experience it firsthand to finally convince myself that it was true... Kevin does NOT care about the customer, and he does NOT stand behind his products, certainly not in the way that he promises he does. Buyer beware....
PL is made in China. Can you say "supply chain"? The current corona virus is teaching this lesson to many people now. It probably takes a month to six weeks to get product in the container. Of course, the remote comes from a different plant than the unit itself and of course, no one in China ever heard of UPS or FedEx (they have, but not when YOU need something). It would be probably possible to permanently wire the device in triode mode but of course it is not PL/Kevin Deal policy to supply schematics. He is afraid that DIYers will copy his precious intellectual property.

It really should have dual 5AR4s to achieve output as advertised or one 5AR4 with diodes in parallel. Tube rectifiers sound much better too.
@@wade998 Tube rectifiers do notnecessarily sound better. You know that.

The company name makes me feel like I'm shopping for ballet shoes. The only downside.
