Mine was. I was not encouraged to pursue good grades and later a good job. Just pass and makes friends they said because I would get married and not have to work! This frists me as well as a ton of other things. I became a comedian. I was born to be funny but tried too hard to be normal like getting married. I hated it. Anyway thanks for your post because I need to be reminded I didnt make that one up. Felt it but didnt have a name for it. Ok I shut my mouth now.

my mom recently took my car to a garage and paid for a new battery with the expectation that I would pay her back. Like, I get that I cried about how difficult everyone was making the situation (she had to chew out our insurance before I got a tow truck. I was sitting outside my work for 4-5 hours.) but "don't spend my money without telling me" shouldn't be as hot a take as my family is treating it.

25:48 My dad totally would've ended up like this if he hadn't met my stepmom. He was so immature and childish, my mom couldn't handle it and divorced him. She had me and my sister, she didn't need a child like man in her life also. He met my soon to be stepmom shortly after. I am thankful he married her. She kept him grounded and responsible and somehow puts up with him, even to this day. If it wasn't for her, my dad probably wouldn't have even acknowledged us much. My stepmom was always more interested in our academics and lives more than he was. Not everyone can say they had a cool stepmom, glad I can say that I do. :)

When I was 16 and supposed to be learning how to drive (hadn’t started yet) my mom asked me to “hold the wheel steady” when she was driving on this one lane mountain road. To this day I do not know what she was thinking or why she thought she needed to text right then instead of pulling the car over, but anyway, I am a person who takes things very literally so when she said “hold it steady” I took that as “don’t try and drive for me and hold the wheel straight.” So anyway we come up to a turn in the road and I try to get her attention but she’s too engrossed in her phone to pay attention to me. Eventually I shout at her to get her attention when we’re about to go off the damn road and she freaks out and starts yelling at me while slamming on the brakes.
To this day (10+ years later) she doesn’t like to let me drive and always tells people that I “don’t like to turn.”

I took my new digital camera outside to photograph the dark clouds and rainbows after a massive rainstorm. Then my mom and oldest brother kept insisting I submit my (unoriginal and very generic) photos to newspapers and insisted I apply for a photography position. I had a single digital camera I bought ON SALE. My current phone takes better pictures than that! I don't think they realize that professional photographers have the absolute best of everything to get the photos taken properly, and have a massive portfolio of their work as opposed to just a few pictures after a rainy day...

Did I forget to mention she was a head surgeon or something in the hospital department she worked in in China? Then mandatory retirement at 50 or whatever it is kicked in. oof. She had nothing to do but bother her one adult kid and their partner. So she after a bit of that she went on a foreign holiday and met my dad. I like her a lot but she's kray kray. My dad made me get into football because he thought it would get me friends. I at first was fine I guess joining turns out though everyone on the team was already people that bullied me so now they just had an excuse to ram into me as hard as they can without getting in trouble and the coaches also bullied me because I didn’t compare to my brother. He had a good idea but sadly it never got me any friends it actually made them belittle me more because I was bad at football

Whenever I pretty much stand next to a guy, or mention that I've been talking to one, no matter who it is, my mum tries to egg the guy into asking me out, even if they're not in my age range, and has even done it for guys who are already in relationships. I've always been the type of person to never want kids or marriage, and she was really upset and disappointed about it because she has the cliche fantasy of having grandkids, so she always meddles and tries to set me up with any random asshole in the hopes that something will happen and I'll suddenly change my mind and start shooting out babies left, right and centre. Once, we both became friends with someone we met while travelling, and as a musician, I wrote and recorded a song about that day, just because it was an awesome day and it was great to meet a nice person. She sent him a copy of the song without my permission and insisted that it was a love letter from me to him, and that we should get together. He was fucking married with a kid, and it weirded him out so much that whenever the three of us got together after that, he'd always give me a wide berth and treat me weirdly, thinking that I had some horrific crush on him, which I could never get him to stop believing. She always has to go there and cross the line. Mostly she just encourages my male friends to ask me out, even if they already have girlfriends, and then everything gets weird, but the married guy incident was awful and dragged on for years.
