@@virakboth7467 When you see a checkmate where a piece cannot capture the mating piece, then that means it is most likely pinned or there is a discovered check on the king.
"He's trying to create some kind of attack on the Queen side, which I expect to fail" Is one of the greatest chess quotes I've ever heard. Awesome stuff...
I love how he said "now it should be just lost for him" one move before his opponent played Nxg4, as if he already knew his opponent was going to fall for the trap.
Yeah, that's a great example of how puzzles might help lower level players to see that mate, by the pattern. Although getting there can be and was different here -- from the classic, that are used in puzzles -- even had to pin the Queen, a very interesting added aspect of it too. Gg, thx.
I'm a new player and low rated but at 5:19 can you play rook to d5? He takes with the pawn, and capture with your bishop and your queen protects your bishop, his queen is pinned to his king and you capture his queen? He can trade queens but idk I'm kinda bad so I don't really know how to play this game
Generally this would work, but the question is: does rook d5 do anything else? If not, then it is just a waste of move, because black simply won't capture the rook
Hi..new here and not a great chess player. I have a question. Towards the end game when white played pawn B4. Why not black take the pawn by "no passing"? Then when white takes back w rook, black takes white rook w black rook, then white king takes black rook, then black queen takes G2 pawn check. White blocks w rook..then black forks / defends with knight G4
Oh wow i knew that but for some reason it just seemed like no passing to me. Yep just re watched it...yep black did offer the trade and at that point its NOT no passing. Thanks guys.

"Let's play something dumb" for the whole game and then a very pretty checkmate. Daniil Dubov, ladies and gentlemen.
he played the trump opening bc its a stupid opening
@@steveolive214 Trump is alright for intermediate, can become a nice stonewall and has got me some fast wins in the 1500 range.

Good to see many people put like this comment, it means new Dubov video is on the way :D

There is a ton of him on "Levitov Chess" channel but its on russian 😊

It's trompowsky attack, search wikipedia

Extremely instructive commentary by Daniil! I love it!

You are assuming that he is capturing the rook though....
Gd one but i think then b5 Bb3 Na5 kicking Bb3
Then maybe Rd3 threatening e3 and ready for exchange on b3 sqaure if NxBb3.....many possibilities tbc

An IM would definitely see that. And if pawn doesn't take, your rook move doesn't make any sense
I read the thumbnail and still didn’t see the mate until after he played it.

black pawn would have to be on a4
There was no en passant. En passant works only if your pawn is on a fifth rank, black's pawn was on a sixth.
