    hi, can you do a Von-misses stress combination of 3-sigma stress from Random Vibration analysis and a static structural analysis. Assume a beam at fixed boundary where a PSD can applied and then in static structural analysis a torque value (moment load along the axis of the beam) is applied. How do we combine the stress from these two studies? 3-sigma von-misses from RV and von-misses from static structural?
    Thanks.

      hello, You can use solution combination and follow the same deck for both random vibration and static.

    in case of ratcheting assessment like in ASME Section 8 Div 2; how to do that where we load and unload multiple times and calculate the cumulative stress? is it same?

    • @graspengineering9249
      @graspengineering9249  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Present video is for solution combination not for ratcheting assessment. For ratcheting you can do by defining load step within solution deck.

    It's better to use analysis steps for getting different load combinations. The only thing you need to do is activate/deactivate the load at desired time step.

    • @graspengineering9249
      @graspengineering9249  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can do that way but for acceleration loading deformation animation will behave differently.

    How to get ultimate load value from ansys.. is von- mises stress represents ultimate load value?

    • @graspengineering9249
      @graspengineering9249  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ANSYS just give you the failure point in terms of values such as mim to max values in terms of legend. You need to check the stresses at yield and ultimate point to decide the yield or ultimate failure.

    thak you so much. It's very helpful. We have a load case of seismic (response spectra results). Stresses due to them have both sign + & - , it become very difficult to add those stresses on component basis (as 64 combinations will be there). Can you help us with that. It will be very helpful. Thank you 😊

    • @graspengineering9249
      @graspengineering9249  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have seismic results such as spectrum in X, Y Z axis you can use SRSS or Newmark method (user define function) to combine them. For multipoint RSA, you can use user define equation (sum of all the decks) to combine results of individual RSA analysis.

    Hello. Nice video and its insightful. Could you please share the reference ASME section details ? In which section it is specified ? that would be really helpful.

    • @graspengineering9249
      @graspengineering9249  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can refer to ASME section VIII div 2, part 5, you will find different load combination for elastic, elastic plastic and limit load analysis;

    If we apply Both Pressure and Forces in one Load case, will that give same results?

    • @graspengineering9249

      Yes, it will as same results of addition of pressure & forces. But for individual pressure & forces have different results.

    How can we combine the solutions of thermal and pressure loads into one solution?

    • @graspengineering9249

      You can add both load case or else apply pressure and temperature loads in single load step

    Hello im doing simulation of à structure witch must resist to sismic load.
    I wanted to know how we can combine the load cases
    PW(proper Weight) + SQRT (Fx ^ 2 + Fy ^ 2 + Fz ^ 2)
    PW-SQRT (Fx^2 + Fy^ 2 + Fz ^ 2)

    • @graspengineering9249
      @graspengineering9249  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use user defined function for the SRSS or others methods seismic combination method.

    How to create user-defined results ?

    • @graspengineering9249
      @graspengineering9249  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can create user define results from solution and then define the respective equation. Example You can define SEQV for equivalent stress in user define expression.
