      But what would be the value of a million in 50yrs?

  • @TheTobs50
    @TheTobs50 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

    Your calculation is 100% correct. However R100 pm in 1977 (47 years ago) was 3x my monthly pay back then! I left at the end of 1998 with a once-off payout of R2500 - which then was huge, and proceeded to fulltime studies. Had I then invested that R2500 and managed to add R600 p.a. via holiday work, and then later when I got a job that was permanent employment, and added R500 pm for about 30 years, it would've been a very handy sum of money by now. The key is: the larger the starting amount (or principal investment), the larger the total, and the quicker the doubling effect comes into play. The same applies when its possible to increase the monthly contributions.

      Invest in low-cost local and global diversified ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) and you'll easily get 10% or more over the long term.

    Hi Nozi i have a question, so the 10% interest you are talking about is the interest that is the resultant of the change in Stock prices?

      Yes.

      @@TalkingMoneyWithNozi meaning that if that year the prices have dipped so is your interest

      @@nomhlemahlangu8025 10% is the average over long term. This means some years it will be higher and other years it will be lower, but if you take the average of all those ups and downs it’s about 10%.

    Nozi: if ordinary people are guided well in this, and can pool their money into a Stokvel that makes use of this stock investment (then called a Stockvel!) it would circumvent to some extent the banking system that manages us on simple interest, then the 47 year waiting period for individuals can be slashed much shorter for the group. In addition, members can be required to make an additional R10 pm for each new year, etc. Do those calculations and the results will be spectacular. (Why government hasn't started such an initiative of savings, from which the Treasury could benefit, is beyond my understanding. Instead, they keep on borrowing more foreign money from the American banking system, trapping the citizens' children and grandchildren into a vicious debt cycle).

    This is awesome to see but it's a scam. If you consider inflation plus tax. You should also consider the life expectancy of that country which you calculate this examples.
