I bought a standard transmission 2017 mustang gt and didn't know how to drive it. Thought I had the skills to get it out the dealership parking. I didnt😢. Watching your video while in the driver seat with the engine growling (it came with corsa axleback), in the dealership parking lot after signing papers for this thing not knowing why I was stalling the engine over and over (dumping clutch from stop to 1st gear). This video helped me drive my new baby 205 miles back home with no problems. Thanks man I really appreciate the content you saved me great levels of embarrassment.

@@sorsury I couldn't find anyone to let me practice on their standard vehicle. Those fast and furious movies will have you thinking you need to dump clutches and slam gears to drive a stick. 😅(Silly me) That's definitely not the case. If you can't get a friend with a practice vehicle, I suggest to just go for it next time. Like I did. I even had the salesman to test drive the car for me while I was in the passenger seat. Lying saying its been a while since I drive a stick when the truth was I have never driven a stick. Never let anything or anyone stand between you and your dreams...you'll be kicking yourself later. Get that stang!

For lower horse power cars to get going in first you wanna give it a little gas like up to 1000 to 1500 rpms and you want to half clutch it which is holding the clutch at the bite point for like a second or two bc You don’t want to rev the car too high bc it’s harmful to the clutch and if you don’t give it enough it’ll quickly stall out
I just bought a 2013 mustang gt 10 days ago and am still getting the hang of rolling into 1st. Im gonna try blipping the gas and see if that helps me out. Thanks for uploading this!
@MynT Jazzy Well, I'm still working on heal to toe, but if you can do it yourself, I would do just that. I think this guy does the same. If not, what I like to do is slowly let off the your clutch and watch for your tac to start to drop (It should be between 200 and 300 rpm). You will also feel some vibration on at this point. Anyway, when this happens, give the acceleration a quick tap/pulse while slowly letting off the rest of the clutch. It will take a bit practice. Anyway, I hope that helps you buddy!
@STREET it's going better for me now. A lot of it was learning where the clutch catches and getting used to the difference in stiffness vs. my Civic. Is this your 1st manual vehicle? Also, i noticed that the different driving modes change how the transmission and clutch act.
I’d recommend leaving your shoes on, much better than a socked foot. But if you do take your shoes off, PLEASE, don’t leave them on the floor in front of the driver’s seat. There’s a chance they will shift forward in an emergency breaking situation, potentially under the clutch or break peddle, causing a super dangerous situation.
I am 50 now and we would have to rev to down shift but we never had to take so seriously, Like people do now.. This right here is why people want those shifter's on the wheel with the auto's.. I love a stick though for weekend driving, I gotta have the manual for weekend driving.. Now if this was my Daily I would have to have the 10 speed, or if I cared about quarter mile times the auto would be what you want.. But for pure driving and tracking, I like the manuals..

Whenever I try downshifting from 3rd to 2nd going about 25-30 my car lurches forward and struggles any ideas I know I'm doing something wrong just don't know what.

From my understanding as a non-manual-driver: when shifting you should press it all the way. As far as rolling into first, that really depends on the car and will take some time to get used to.
I believe modern cars will have a gear indicator, but I think the way it's usually done is literally just to wiggle the shifter side to side. It won't be able to go side to side if it's in a gear.
I can tell by moving the gear shift. If you can move it from left to right or right to left wi hour any trouble then it’s in neutral, and when you park you car, you wanna have it on neutral
you have an insane paranoia when it comes to using the cluch you can and should slip the clutch in most modern manual cars especially 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd due to how every new manual basically feels like it has a 45lbs flywheel with tons of revhang you'd wear out the clutch more by forcing it into the new rpm rather than easing it down by slipping

Try half clutching it give it a little gas up to like 1000 to 1500 and holding the clutch at the bite point and slowly release it from there
