I removed the ratchets and the cable provided and now use chain and turn buckles. It feels stronger than w the ratchets. The reason I changed it was because the ratchet got hung in the brush and the handle got bent and I nearly couldn’t get it off. Since I changed to chain it performs much better and a lot faster to put on and take off. I really like it. It turns any tractor w a bucket into a whole new machine. Thanks for sharing.
Shawn, Thanks for your feedback. I am retired military and very new at all of this. We just bought a new 2017 Mahindra 3540. Front Loader, Back Hoe, Post Hole Digger and Fork Lifts. We have massive amounts of land to clear. Do you feel it is worth it to get this extra attachment and if so, where do you get one? Just a heads up. We are in SC, so, it is a little wetland and about 70% dry land. We are trying to turn the wet land into a pond and use that dirt to fill in any part to make the rest dry. We have a lot of trees that need to come down and a lot, a whole lot of shrubs, bushes, very tall weeds, vines, etc. Please help with any advice if you have the time. Thanks for your time. Steve
Stephen OConner wow. That’s a lot of work! I’d recommend a box blade. It’s good for moving and spreading dirt, rocks etc. maybe a disk if you want to do some planting. It all depends on what you want to do. As for digging a pond you may be better off hiring someone since you have so much dirt that needs to be cut. I mean you and your tractor could do it but it would take a long while. As far as trees you might want to contact a logging company. If it’s a good stand of timber they’ll pay you to come cut your timber. You can make a pretty good amount depending on the stand of trees to be removed. I buy some of my implements from my dealer but some I have bought comes from a small mom and pop implement dealer about 30 miles from me because they’re cheaper but not on everything. I’d say look on the internet for implement dealers near you and call to get pricing. There are for too many implements out there for me to suggest which to get. But you’ll learn as you go along and get better at using your tractor. Good luck with your project and be careful. I enjoy my time on my Tractor but remember they can be dangerous. Especially when you’re just starting out and learning. I wish I could offer more advice but my experience is limited and I’m sure there are more qualified folks then me to help. Thank you for your service!
I have a Mahindra 1526 Shuttle. Absolutely love it. I did not want the hst because it gives a little less power to the ground all the way around and just adds one more filter.I have some hilly land also and have no problems on it with the shuttle drive. But any way you go, you cannot beat a Mahindra in my opinion. And I just subscribed to you.
+PMGardening thanks for subscribing and I love this tractor too. It does everything we need it to do and more. It impresses us each time we use it. There will be more videos with it coming soon!
+daveknowshow thanks! I recommend it to everyone! I will have some new videos coming this weekend! And this summer there will be more tractor videos. Thanks for subscribing.
glad to help Jake, pay it forward and help other small channels by subscribing to them. there are many small tractor channels who are looking for help.
Great Video, just the type of stuff I really want to see,.. the equipment being used in real situations. All kinds of talking and showing off, but not many in "real" world situations. Where would one get that "ratchet" rake attachment? and what kind of price range am I looking at? Thanks
I am very new at all of this. We just bought a brand new never used 2017 Mahindra 3540 with a Front Loader, Back Hoe, Post Hole Digger and fork lifts. Why did you clear like that instead of using your Front Loader moving forward? I have a lot of clearing to do, a lot. Is it worth me getting just a few more attachments or no?
Well, you know I feel like with the stuff you have you could do a lot of clearing. But with the ratchet rake it has the spikes so you can rough up the ground well and pull up all the roots and all that stuff. I feel like it makes a difference for us. We have the backhoe too but, which works well for pulling stumps. If your just trying to flatten the front loader itself works well. And the ratchet rake is almost like a replacement of a brush hog but is more versatile. Sorry for responding late I've been very busy
Looks like you have the shuttle shift trans -- what made you go that route instead of HST? Have you experienced situations when an HST would be better?
Will it climb hills in High? I've seen a few mentions that the HST doesn't have much power down low in High range. The 1500s are 3-speed, right? I'm thinking about the Max 26XL, which I think it only 2 for mowing, light landscaping and tree work, but may also cut some trails around our 35 acres, which is on the side of a mountain.

Thank you for your advice. I will see if I can make some of these things happen.
Take care.

My next tractor will be mahindra. I like their reviews.
Do you have a link for the ratchet Rake available? I can't find it on Amazon... Looks Handy!
Hey sorry for the late response I havent been active in awhile here the link ratchetrake.com
Like I said. I am very new. Retired Military to Farmer/Rancher. Well, working to be that. We have a lot of work to do.

Enjoyed the footage, like watching machines working
Put the bucket in float. It’s not a bulldozer
Looks like you have the shuttle shift trans -- what made you go that route instead of HST? Have you experienced situations when an HST would be better?
+sideskraft Actually we do have the hydrostatic transmission. And we got that because of all of the hills on our property.
And I also personally like the hydro better because of it's maneuverability
