Hey Jazz Mentlists! I think this is my BEST lesson so far. After producing 400 videos, I think I'm finally getting a feel for how to deliver these lessons via TH-cam. It's tough to teach something in 20 minutes!! You really have to think it through, then edit the video precisely so YOU, the JazzMentlist, can get maximum learning in a short period of time. And I'm a no fluff kind a trainer, so I try to give you the best learner experience! I hope you take the time to watch it to the end and apply it. It's good stuff!! I wish I had these videos on the internet when I was a young lion! Nothing would have stopped me from absorbing it all. I spent thousands of dollars on a University education and thousands more on private study. I could say, this is what I would have preferred. So I hope you are enjoying these. Anyway, watch my solo piano version as well: th-cam.com/video/MJbMMw76L38/w-d-xo.html . And when you BUY my sheet music, you are supporting this channel. It's the small way I get paid to keep producing these. I appreciate your support! - Much love to you all 🙏 Paul BUY DANNY BOY SHEET MUSIC PDF (PAUL TOBEY REHARMONIZATION) jazzmentl.com/shop/danny-boy-reharmonization-solo-jazz-piano-sheet-music-pdf/
Evidently you've been doing this teaching for quite a while, but I just discovered your work today. It is superb. Let's see now whether I can apply it it, which is the acid test, of course. My new piano is delivered tomorrow, and this is what I'll start with.
It's very specific. I do have Bossa Nova tutorials...do a search on my channel, there are about 8 or so videos on Bossa Nova. If it has a backing track, I may have trained on comping with a band. I can't recall😁
@@Jazzmentl It's a Polish folk song we will play in Bossa Nova style. I have the chords just need to put it into sounds somehow nicely :) I mean this piece. th-cam.com/video/LeyP5tlIRsY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=K4kZW-a4VdUN7iuw
It's just a little harder to follow when the chords you instruct about don't follow the chords you have illustrated on the hard copy vs. the ones that show up in app form. Revoicing on the fly while showing voicings you don't actually play (such as adding in a #5 live when none is indicated in the sheet music shown on screen) makes it difficult to conceptualize how the version you're showing might actually sound short of playing it myself. I'm not saying anything's wrong with what you've done here. It's just a little confusing when you say "this voicing is this" and then play notes that don't match the chord symbol you're "illustrating". I hope that makes sense. It's hard to explain what I mean.

@@Jazzmentl I have seen your tutorials, but there was a very little nothing about playing with a band and minor Bossa 🤭

I did my best to follow the sheet music that's displayed. If I miss a note here and there, well that's jazz. I try to be as accurate as I can.
