C17 Globemaster production has been stopped, IL76 is the only option available for IAF now. India should accept the offer. It will bring infrastructure and skill to India in manufacturing of havey military cargo aircraft.

Actually we should accept the offer from brazil and work on cost efficiency of both. Target should be to export and cost should be low with good quality. Further IRB should jointly make products in india .

@@BhartiymulnivasiBrazil don't have any havey weight cargo aircraft. The aircraft offered by Brazil is C390 which is a medium weight cargo aircraft. And the aircraft has borrow many system from airbus. IAF already realised a tender for acquiring medium weight transport aircaft. Where Embraer C390 , C130 super Hercules and Airbus 400M already in offer. But IL 76 category is completely different this is a havey transport aircraft llike C17.
Brazil transport miliry aircraft in exchange of tejas mk2 is good deal

USA has not given India the IPR for F - 414 engine to be used in Tejas MK2. They can stop the deal any time.

@@mayureshrasam1708 Firstly Kaveri engine has not been able to deliver the thrust required by Tejas MK1.(84 KN) Considering that DRDO will certainly be able to meet the requirement in near future, HAL has to first meet the requirements of airforce (83+97+stand by) and only then it will be able to start export. This is the reason America is arm twisting us by withholding delivery. As far as Tejas MK2 is concerned, deal for F - 414 engine is yet to be signed. Here also IPR is not agreed by USA. If we go for Safran engine then ofcourse IPR will not be an issue, but still we have to manufacture 100+ engines (plus engines for TEDBF) before we think of export.

IL 76 is very very old , it is believed planes performance wrt new MTA is rather poor since it didn't kept pace with technological adv.
There are many Macaly putra, who think make in India is bad , but buying from uncle Sam is good. We need to shed this slave mentality. Make in India is best to get experience by indian manufacturer.
This is a genuine offer. Due to sanctions, it is only options. But we should also get the full tot for the manufacturing as well. This will give us export option also.

Whether India should accept this Russian offer or not depends on many different factors like:
1. How satisfied is IAF with technical, functional & logistic performance of IL-76 upto now.
2. Which, if any, are the alternatives available that can be a better replacement of these old aircraft with lesser maintenance overhead and better serviceability. One good example that comes to my mind is the Brazilian Embraer C-390 Millennium that IAF is considering presently. They are also fully ready to 'Make in India'.
3. If IAF is quite satisfied about the performance of the Old IL-76 aircraft and the spares, repair, maintenance infrastructure created along with the knowhow gathered till now in operating the IL-76 for decades can be applied and used for the new, improved IL-76 then nothing like it. India should go for it

Although it may appear an act of selfishness but in it lies and hidden opportunity for us as it will help us to train ourselves in building big flying machine and gain edge in aviation industry. We have no aviation industry and completely dependent on others for our civilian aircrafts. This could serve as a chance to change and gain expertise in the aviation industry. This war has served to us and opportunity to extract as much as we can from Russia to enhance our knowledge and use it for our purpose.
Bharat should accept induction to our Airforce with atleast partial Transfer of technology

I think you are being a bit more uneducated about this title ... its not about sanctions ... c17 production was fragmented due to its aging fleet across global market and the Indian c17 will be put to museum by 20 years .. its very good offer for india..considering brics currency will bypass swift and hope it gets live in oct 2024

I think this is a good offer. We use technology not just for the military but also to build our own aircraft factory for civilian and commercial plans.

Too late! Il-76 serves the IAF since last 30 years.
Russia never allowed full transfer of technology for licensed production of MiG-21 and MiG-27 in the 1980-90s. This took a heavy toll on the IAF.
Therefore, there's no need for India to take up production of Il-76.
They are atleast giving u some tot...be happy on that ...india want a discount aircraft with tot too😅

India should wholeheartedly join hands with Russia and ask for complete and total transfer of technology for any offer that comes from Russia.
Once you have the entire supply chain of spares and components then India will be in a position to make the entire equipment in India. There is an argument that Russian equipment is inferior/outdated, so what........you can improve it using your own R&D. If India had to do all by itself it will take decades to build everything from scratch. Examples are the Tejas aircraft and Kaveri engines. This is exactly what China did but they actually bought the initial equipment. India should take advantage of the current geopolitical situation and start making everything in-house. If you plan with the future in mind then in 10 years India will be the biggest supplier of these equipments to the rest of the world and it will be a superior version than what was made by Russia.
