Plenty of artistic licence here. With those gunpowder-cartridge model rocket engines in use then and today, it either goes or it doesn't. No fancy sound effects.
I should note that LACoFD Station 127 located in Carson, California, interestingly enough, is directly across the street from an oil refinery on 223rd Street.
An actual "Emergency!" episode had a grandfather and grandson involved in a rocket accident. The other rocket accident was in "The Hard Hours" when a boy genius was testing dry ice.
There was another rocket accident in Season 6: Episode 16, "Family Ties." Station 51 responded to a call where a young man accidentally started a fire in his attic while testing his rocket, trapping both him and his sister.
