I'm silly and forgot to change the beginning quote for this video, it's supposed to be "“In the stillness, growth. Bringing life to this forgotten place.”
I'm a biology student form Spain. I absolutely loved flora getting some attention, specially fungi and lichens. Props to you from all the mycology geeks!!
@@LamarjorieQueen if he does a food video, maybe... There's rocks on the tiktok that have meat in them called pebble cores. Not sure if they're going to be canon, but still, rocks! 😂
Fantastic work. I really enjoy the idea that you're focusing on "useful" plants as it really underscores the idea that this is as much a Survival Guide as it is a Journal. One extremely minor piece of feedback is that I think that in the future, you might want to have a bit more variety than the two-word compound names: "Puff-Moss", "Kindle-Cap", "Well-Root", "Green-Seal" - as it can start to feel a little formulaic, especially when it fits a "Adjective-PlantNoun" pattern. I only mention it because I've seen a lot of world-building folks fall into it. Its interesting, though, that your world has less of a linguistic context to draw diegetic names from because of its premise - take LOTR for example: "King's Foil"'s proper name is "Athelas" which, sounds great and bucks that pattern, but it only works because it has the linguistic anchor of Sindarin. I imagine you might hit this same issue if you were to give names to locations (which you've sidestepped due to the settings premise): "Minis Tirth" is a way more interesting name than "Sun Tower" - but again: that etymology only works because the linguistic anchor that LOTR has. it's an interesting problem >.< Keep up the great work.
So actually, I think the simplistic two-word compound name system works well for this worldbuilding particularly! Because maybe the one writing the entries hasn't had exposure to many words and names before, and his quirk or trait when naming things is to compound the words he knows and observes. Because the ruins is his whole world. He only knows what he sees. The simplicity is endearing to me and seems completely in line with the idea of a traveler waking up in this new world and tasking himself with naming the things he observes. These entries are snapshots of what he sees, and the beauty of that is also that other travelers in the ruins may even see similar creatures and give them their own names, unless they find his entries and use them as their common naming conventions. Hope that makes sense! Just what I think after reading this and absorbing the world :)
@@dianasaurstudio yeah, that's kinda what I was starting to get into with the absence of a linguistic anchor - the broader thing is a lack of contextual cultural anchor. That's a feature of the setting for sure. I guess, upon reflection, this is more a problem I see in other world building projects that, when manifested here, makes more sense. still - when you look at it through the lens of the world-building community as a whole, its a pattern I see often enough that its obvious when it its used. Jury is out on if its a bad thing or a good thing, I guess. >.< TL;DR: you're not wrong :3
It's weird how I often enjoy more ideas about fantasy, magical plants than the monsters, characters or artefacts themselves. Nature fauna tells and feels different over all else, a person can tell us a story but a plant show us a word of possibilities. (sorry for english btw)
So beautiful. And I love how fantastical-yet-plausible these fictional plants are. The lore and background of the Eternal Ruins ticks all of my fantasy boxes. Well done!
I live these designs so much! If you want to make another flora video I say go right ahead! If this video was about helpful plants, I'd be especially curious to see one about dangerous plants
Nice one! Kindlecap seems especially neat - I was on a survival course once and half of it was just how to start a fire when you only have flint. Kindlecap seems like a good alternative to birch bark Also, can we expect something more about flooded parts of the ruins at some point? I'm quite curious about them ^^;
Thanks! Yeah I love watching bushcraft videos and always love when they used fatwood to start a fire. And yes I’ll be doing some videos on different locations in the ruins soon!
Your work on this world is just awesome, I love how you don’t just focus on big things like relics and the history of the world, but also in small details like the flora and fauna of the world. Hope you can soon expand on this and create a whole ecosystem of wonders and nature
I saw new upload and saw it was speaking on the flora and was like yass got my favorite form of relaxation after work and also something that doesn't bother my migraines. Also the fungi love. Appreciate you and for always being a safe calm cozy channel to come to. Even us older folk need places like this. ~ waffling deshi out
Current thoughts: This world is the remnants of a powerful ancient civilization that was at its pinnacle, that is until a war tore it all apart. A war so terrible that a higher power intervened and turned the population to stone. Now only a few people are allowed to roam free at a time, becoming the wanderers that roam this crumbling ruined world.
We need a Eternal Ruins game, I would love the environmental story telling and puzzles, as well as watching how things live and work in the ancient ecosystem
I would give just about anything for either a hollow knight style video game, or a studio ghibli style film/tv series based on the eternal ruins. It’s such an interesting idea, and has some of the peaceful and nature based feeling that are part of what make me like hollow knight or ghibli movies so much.
Now we've got animal and vegetable, all that's left is a "geology of the eternal ruins" video. What *kinds* of rocks are the ruins made of, huh? What do they *taste* like?
Beautiful designs But how do they taste? I need to find some puffmoss ASAP, and wellroot is a cool, creative consideration for the world, but I gotta say Greenseal is my fave. Even tho that flower looks stunnin’!
I wonder If this plants were made bye who or what ever made this place because they have very convenient abilities (like how the Kindlecap is used to make fire) sort of like a concept from a game ( aka porpoise organisms from rain world ) I guess after all this years they evolved and grown Wilde
This was a lovely vid as always! The plants are oddly useful, as if they were engineered to be helpful. I wonder. Also, what about harmful plants? There’s plenty of poisonous flora in the world and if a flower grows near spirits, is there something that grows near demons?
Why is everything in italics? is that just me? The subtitles, the title, the description the comments my comment the text saying add a comment its all in italics and this is not happening for me with other videos?
Man, you need to work on your characters. The scenery is gorgeous, but the characters are not only in a completely different style, but sorry to say, they are ugly and look very amateurish. The rest is pretty awesome.

lots of benificial designs, but it would be cool to see this worlds version of say poison ivy or something like it.

I would love to watch an animated series that takes place in this world!
Beautiful and lovely designs! Would love to hear about the poisonous plants too!
