Joyce Bugaiski Teaches Making a Rawhide Rattle

At each year's Native Rhythms Festival, the multi-talented artist and crafts teacher Joyce Bugaiski leads one or two hands-on workshops in a Native American related craft. With the 2020 Native Rhythms forced to go virtual, Joyce took advantage of the new format to choose a project that would normally take days to complete and condensed it to a 40 minute video. In this video Joyce demonstrates how to make a rawhide rattle. Companion patterns and written instructions are available on the Native Rhythms website.

Thank you for sharing this video, I didn't know about tightening up the sinew after the rawhide has dried . that would explain my sloppy loose stitches . I am excited to make a better one now .
