I like my games to be beautiful. Games are escapism, so I want to escape to something pleasant to look at. Give me bright colors any day.
Don't forget smooth, action-packed gameplay to entertain hard!
I do much prefer vibrancy
lol this comment made me laugh
100% agreed, it's the reason why the late 2000s are one of my my least favorite eras in gaming. Just an endless sea of brown and gray, and gritty boring realism. Thank goodness for the Wii or else I would've written that generation of consoles off entirely.
BLUE SKY IN GAMES!
The cheeseness, the ludicrous voice acting, the crazy over the top game desing... I would not have this games in any other way they are PERFECT!
The cheese makes the game
This is a franchise that never lets up with each installment. It really is the Fast & Furious of light gun games.
Always over the top and always fun
@ Indeed.
I remember playing this in the arcades years ago but I know this game from the PS3 version. Apparently the PS3 version of Time Crisis 4 was released twice, the first home release in 2007 was a standalone version with PS3 exclusive FPS adventure mode (and the cutscenes in the first PS3 version were video files as opposed to in-engine in the arcade version) and the arcade version found in the 2010 Time Crisis Razing Storm compilation with PlayStation Move support. (Also will you do a video on the PS3 exclusive mode?)
Probably no vid on the exclusive mode. Time Crisis retrospective has been mid at best view wise
My first and one of my favorite time crisis installments next to 2, its a masterpiece!
It really is just a straight up awesome game
Thought I recognized the character William Rush’s voice: Christoper Sabat!
I know him from One Piece, wild to hear him in Time Crisis; legend
Haha didn’t know
Just played through this one recently on my PS3 with my guncon 3. Good times!
It’s just a straight up classic
"Take my extra ammo!"
Iconic line
awesome video as always and it works great on rpcs3 with a dolpin bar and a wii remote
It is nice how far ps3 emulation has come
PS3 glory days back in 2007. It was another winner from Namco. I loved my PS3 and used to dust it every day.
PS3 was a great generation. I need to do a series on it
This one was fun too. I just ordered a scph-1160 PS1 av multi out adapter with my plan to get two Guncons for my PS1.
Def worth picking up
I can't imagine beating this with a controller. You're brave.
Or foolish
3 and 4 have amazing music that it made me wonder why modern movie composers don't take notes from them.
I wonder if any video game composers have crossed over into mainstream Hollywood
What I'd give to have an official "Time Crisis: The Wild Dog Collection" or something for modern platforms with a Sinden gun or something included. Sure, I own all of the PS1, 2 and 3 versions, but still. These games need to be preserved for the future! Especially the fifth one that never got an official home release!
Oh I’d buy that in a heartbeat. All five mainline games plus spinoffs
My second favorite in the franchise!
Well which ones first? Haha don’t leave us hanging
@VideoGameEsoterica Time Crisis 2
A classic for sure
Gotcha! for NES is also a light gun game that lets you move the camera.
Which one?
@VideoGameEsoterica The player POV. Only camera in the entire game.
I read the comment wrong haha
cant wait till the arcade version will work well on play!
Hopefully soon
Characters dressed like Final Fantasy protagonists might be peak
Haha gets even wilder in 5
TC4 might be the RE6 for me.
Over the top, but fun as hell. I do love games when they dont take themselves too seriously.
And 5 takes the trend to the extreme in such good ways
Graphically impressive and still is for sure VGE. I mean it offered so much that I thought it was better than the 3rd installment that improved were it was attempting to accomplished but better polished. 8^) .
It def was a graphical leap. Then 5 went even further
really liked the time crisis series but i dont think i ever played this one or the ones that followed.
Def give them a shot. Tons of fun
I have to ask... what is the best (not just personal favorite) game in the series (including the spin-off) in your opinion, and what are the main reasons for your choice?
Mainline = 5. Because it’s just insanely over the top. Spinoff is Razing Storm for the same reasons plus all the wild destructible environments
Does the this play well on RPCS3? It's the only Time Crisis game I've never played and haven't messed with PS3 emulation much.
Runs well once set up properly
Time Crisis 4 may not be perfect but it was still a good entry in the series. After Time Crisis 5 came out and leaving me disappointed, I used to think the fourth game was the weakest game in the series, but now I have to give it some slack for at least keeping closer to the spirit of the older games. But it was certainly a lot like other games at the time with many turret set pieces, and the main characters don't feel as important as the secondary heroic character.
Interesting. I really love 5. It’s just over the top and chaotic weird
@@VideoGameEsoterica I dunno, it lacked impact for me physically. I don't mind over the top but there was something missing for me. I couldn't get back into it no matter how many times I've played it
That’s fair. Not everything hits for everyone
Dude idk… it felt very soft. Like the distance angles and the threat of the enemies feels off to me. It feels like they played it safe.
I wouldn’t say played it safe. Just played it different
@ I hear ya and let’s agree to disagree for now. TC1 and TC2 for life for me :)
Ha ha, that’s fair
What arcade hardware does time crisis 4 run on
PS3 based
Is that Wild Dog, or Sean Penn? I think I'd rather join up with the bad guys on this one. The good guys look like goofballs who spend way too much time in the salon or with their stylists. A bit too fancy for me.
Lol Wild Dog is way better than Sean Penn
@VideoGameEsoterica I bet Madonna would agree with that.
🤣
I was interested in this game, but it got such mixed reviews. Why do you suppose that was? This was an era when Japanese games were critiqued a bit too harshly (in my opinion), so maybe that had a bit to do with it?
No clue. It’s a hit. Maybe just because the genre wasn’t as popular then
30 fps ? 60fps ?
60 as far as I can tell
@@VideoGameEsoterica yes, I launched the ps3 at 60 fps and on TH-cam at 30 fps)
Yeah YT loves to try and get you to watch it in lower quality than I upload
First!
Streak starter
Personally I prefer Time Crisis 2&3 5 was moving on in the right direction exepct for a few nick picks but time crisis four with its bioweapon insects called the terrrobites which is to much for me to the point they took me out of the game.
5 is such a wild ride. Vid soon obv
