Glad I came across this video. I have 2 bonded girls & now have rescued another 2 girls. I need to bond but terrified me. I’ve got my c&c cage grids & will be taking advice from this video thank you. I really don’t want my 2s bond breaking. If it works they will all be in a room free roam where my girls are currently. I always come across videos of adding young piggies but my 2 are 2 years old & the new 2 are a year or a bit more. So really adult sows. Xx
Females usually work it out. They establish a pecking order for lack of a better phrase. Mine took about two weeks. One pig picked on the new pig constantly. Eventually everything turned out ok.
Hoping so. Just was anxious because the last time I tried to add a fourth pig to my trio they attacked her in the cage after a day. So I'm always cautious with them, they're a bold group of girls lol. But it seems to be calming down so I'm hopeful.
@@saraglickman5889 no it did not! maybe it could have worked if stardust did not have satin syndrome. they chased and nose punched her for a week after bonding, I could have held out but I decided she would be a better fit with other pigs. Since she has satin syndrome it’s painful for her to move around and I didn’t like that the other pigs were forcing her too with all the chasing. She’s now with sage & cinnamon instead!
@@autumngrace. so when you got her she had a parasite then ended up with satin syndrome too? It really goes to show adoptions can go way differently than expected! At least she is healthy & getting the proper care now! I learned so much about pigs from you! They definitely are high maintenance and expensive to keep up with. It blows my mind that parents get them for kids considering they always must be eating to avoid intestinal stasis! I feel for all the neglected pigs out there!
Loved the video and I’m so glad stardust is feeling better! I found when I bonded my herd that my dominant piggie Luna made sure my younger two knew she was the boss very quickly so after about 30 minutes or so she was fairly okay and would sit and eat with them. My other guinea pig who was bonded to Luna was the one who showed more dominant behaviours for longer - similar to peanut and pepper. This might be because they want to make sure that the new pigs know that although they aren’t the boss they’re still above them in the sort of hierarchy but I’m not entirely sure. But my guinea pigs did the same but within a couple of days they all got on really well. They do have little arguments occasionally but nothing more than a “get off my piece of lettuce” 😂 otherwise they’re all best of friends and the herd dynamic is amazing.
That's what I'm thinking, that Peanut & Pepper were so excited to be in charge of someone they just went a little overboard lol! Hopefully it calms down soon~
Thank you for taking the trouble to do this video. This was very time consuming and you had to be on spot for a few days. Wonderful. So so glad to see Stardust and her health update. Congratulations on your studious hard work and expenses in getting her well. It was not an easy tasks. It shows how knowledgeable you are and how much hard work it takes to keep guineapigs both well and happy I continue to enjoy your videos 💕🥰💐🌸🌟
I do love the longer videos much more than the shorts :) please continue them and longer for me :) love to watch those sweethearts and learning so much ty
All your Guinea pigs are soooo cute!!! I looooove Stardust’s colors and marshmallow’s fur is so beautiful peanut is a cutie! And my mind went blank with the other pigs name but she is also adorable Edit Honey is the other one she is adorable!!
I just wanted to let you know that I really look forward to and love to watch your video. I live in a new house and I had my Guinea pigs 4x2 cage one the ground, later I found out there were ants living in her cage!!! So I need to find a table to put her cage on!
Loved the video, I'm really happy that stardust is doing much better. I hope that stardust bonding with the rest of the girls go well. I have a question though, I am planning on adopting a guinea pig, but I don't know what to buy. I understand that there are other youtubers I could watch, but I love the way you do your videos and I feel like you'd explain this very well. Again, I hope everything with your piggies goes well. Have a great day!
Thank you! Personally I haven't had time to film an in-depth buying guide for guinea pigs, but AlyssaNPets has one! The only thing I'd suggest different from her video is to get the oxbow garden food, not the essentials!
Hi! I bonded my 2 guinea pigs with a third pig yesterday. They didn’t get into any fights and blood was never drawn. They ate and slept together but my most dominant pig would occasionally chase her an have “head holding face-offs” with her, but it never escalated to a fight.. When they seemed fairly cool with each other and they had been in the pen for almost a day I put them in their cage together. My most dominant pig still chases her and does the head thing, but does that mean I should separate them and maybe try bonding them again later?
Love your vids so much ❤ sending love from me and my pigs to you and your pigs. It is always hard to bond guinea pigs and stressful but when you are pearpaerd ( by you have bonded pigs and have pigs that are nice to others) it can go easier but still hard especially for males.
I’ve only bonded 2 sisters with a neutered boy before. Right from the get go, one of the sisters was obviously more dominant and the other wanted absolutely nothing to do with the process. She made sure she was on the opposite side of the pen from the dominant sister and the new guy at all times, she basically got out of her sisters way so she could tell the new guy who’s boss lol
So if I adopt another guinea pig I'm making the cage 3,5x9,5 grids. Should I still make the bonding area bigger than the cage?😳😳 I don't have that big space anywhere else than my room💀👀
I’m curious how long your enclosure is in feet? I have a trio in three midwests end to end and trying to figure out how many I can fit comfortably in there.
It's up to you. Some people say never try after blood has been shed but some do try again. If you think the reason they fought was due to the bonding setup not to personality, than it could be worth a second shot.
@@autumngrace. I've tried it twice but both times it wasn't done correctly. But when I have them doing floortime with cc cage in-between they're totally fine and happy
I have a bonded female pair and I just recently got a new female who is about I would say 3 months maybe younger. I tried to bond them once and I got worried because the two that were already bonded started to see who was gonna be dominant again. So I separated them and now we are gonna try bonding them this weekend again. Any tips I am freaking out because the little single Guinea pig that we have was very scared the whole time.

I’m literally obsessed with Marshmallow.
The fur is EVERYTHING.
The attitude is so sassy and spunky.
I love her!!
I will have a Marshmallow someday!!

If there’s no blood, I would see it through. Separating would mean starting from scratch, but as always, up to you,

If it’s the same size as the cage that’s fine! I like to go bigger but if you can’t doing the same size is fine.
So cute ❤️

My cage is 10 feet long! And 28” wide. 3 Midwest’s is about 24 square feet so it’s pretty much the same size as my enclosure.

Yes they have. Usually not unprompted. Happens sometimes when I’m doing nail trims, grooming, meds, holding them, etc
