Well done again! I hope you don't mind me sharing this story with you all. I have rescued/raised a number of birds over the years (not as many as you) some were successful some rescues weren't. This occurred about 35 years ago. I once found a broken nest on the floor in a relatives garden, three of the chicks were caught up in the rose bushes alive and a fourth was dead on the thorns. I didn't know how to give them back to their parents as the nest was destroyed and I couldn't leave these featherless babies where they were or on the ground as they'd die slowly or be toyed with and eaten. So I made a nest inside an ice cream tub and took them in. I fed them, kept them worm and fed them hourly with the meaty bits of whiskas cat food (ironic I know) and freshly harvested worms, and so the routine of feed water and poop started lol. I had to go to work, as I was on the road all day I took them with me in the car, work, feed, poop, work, feed, poop, water and so on. One died the day after taking it in. Miraculously the other two survived, they got stronger and stronger. Their care continued at home, in the car and in the garden, my german shepherds accepted them and kept a close eye on them especially when we were outside in the garden, any cat attempting to come a pinch one would have been sealing it's own fate. The day they flew off filled my heart with pride and satisfaction but it also broke my heart not to see them and know they were safe, I left the shed hatch open for them as they were always welcome to come home, even the the dogs would watch birds fly over and it appeared as if they also wondered where the little ones were. Three days went by and one had come back to visit, a few day later they both returned, one was holding up his leg as if injured, the vet said it wasn't broken so I confined both to the shed until it was better. Once healed they came and went as they pleased for the rest of the year, then no more visits. The following year the dogs and I were outside when a thrush landed on the lawn, cautiously it watched the dogs and the flew over to my feet without a care in the world, had a good look at me and flew off into the shed, came out and flew off again. I like to think he was one of the chicks. I've never seen them again, and yet whilst that saddens me, I could have never caged them for my own emotional needs. I do however think of them with a warm heart and satisfaction along with other successful releases. It's such a great feeling to know I was able to save them. Peck Peck mmm Baby birds have moms to feed them and keep them warm, and birds are still alive and well. As long as he releases Pete when it's time, Pete should be fine. He just needs to learn how to forage and fly by himself.

My cat caught a bird the other week and I was like ‘TULLY NOOOO’ and because she never gets yelled at she dropped the bird. I picked it up with some paper towel and put it in the hollow of our dead tree. I was sitting there for hours hoping it would fly away and it did! The most joyous moment of my life.
There's very few things that will melt my heart, and it hasn't happened in a while but this absolutely did. Thank you for bringing joy to so many people with this channel!
