I'm learning how to draw to illustrate my own children's book! I'm 28, and have never considered myself "visual" enough to draw. But now things are changing, I'm becoming more perceptive. And now drawing is becoming one of my favorite things to do. Your channel is great for learning, thank you! Definitely subscribed!
WOW! Good for you, it's never too late! This is what we LOVE TO HEAR and part of why we do what we do! So glad we could join you on your art journey! If you'd like to share what you're working on, we'd love to see it! We've got a Discord where you can let others know what you're up to. discord.gg/wingedcanvas Hope to see you there!
Thank you so so much for making another video on this topic cause Shadow and Lights are kind of my main problem while doing art like these and tutorials like this help a lot!!!!
i remember learning about this back in the day, theres something really interesting that happens with form shadows compared to cast shadows though. The opposite actualy happnes for some reason with form shadows, the closer/stronger the light source the harder the edge on the form shadow, i remembering learning about this from a toy photography channel, will link it if i can find it.
0:01 I have been watching you for a while and I must thank you for teaching me art and you really inspired me, all these years I thought your character had king neck 💀 Ik but now I realized it’s a small body 😭
Shadow Color will be the color of whatever feels good to you, usually just making flats layer, then picking the color and shift hue and make it move a bit to right and down works 99% of the time xd
The more I know about shading the more it confuses me. 😵💫 It's just like a lottery for me. Sometimes I hit the jackpot and the rest of the time I'm just guessing and hope it's turns out well. 😅

I am bad at shading so this will help a lot
Now you can become a shadow MASTER!

could you do a tutorial focusing purely on soft shading like you did with your cel shading tut? that'd be awesome :D

So harder when closer to the light source and softer when it’s further away from the light source, do I have this correct?
Yep, that’s correct! It’s because the further the distance the light travels, the more time it has to diffuse and soften before reaching the object.
