When my brother died of leukemic cancer, he was wearing his headphones with his eyes closed and a smile on his face, this song was ringing on his phone. Whenever it sounds or I listen to it again, it reminds me of that scene and I wonder "If everything could ever be this real forever If anything could ever be this good again". My son told me the other day that he "found this new really cool song." I thought I heard this a very long ago when I was his age. He's 16 now and we don't always see eye to eye anymore. But this song made us the same age, for that moment. We both understood this song is new. And will never get old.
My daughter lives far away. It's a 4ish hour drive each way when I go get her. We got home late one day from a pickup. She knows I'm a lifelong guitar player/drummer that came up in the 90s. The instant we walked into the house she says, "can we go downstairs in the music room, and can you play me my favorite song everlong?" It was 130AM and I was exhausted but I instantly said "absolutely" and played it twice on my favorite Tele. Love you Lulu
I was 14 years old the first time I listened to this song. At first I never paid too much attention to the lyrics and their meaning. Two months ago I met a girl and we started to forge a very nice bond. I'm not afraid to admit that I started to have feelings for her. Today she told me that she will leave the town next week to finish her studies, and that she will probably not return until next year. I'm happy for her, but I can't help being a little sad. And that was the moment I remembered this song, specifically "If everything could ever feel this real forever, if everything could ever be this good again". 11 years later, I'm finally able to give a deeper and more personal meaning to this song. And this is the story about why I'm here tonight. If you took the time to read this, thank you, it's late at night and right now this is the only way I can vent.
Francisco Alfaro Ferreyra Mr.Ferrryra we are sorry. 😢 Your young you will have a few losses & a few wins in this game of love ,try not to become to damaged like us & stop looking or stop caring about it we would love to extend you a shoulder but not possible . But you are welcome to vent here to us Anytime you need !!! thank you for sharing.
I can relate. I'm only 16 now, and my father played this song all the time when I was too young to understand it. I started to have feelings for a girl in my class last year. I only really started talking to her in the last marking period. I went to her birthday last month, and got her a pearl necklace. I didn't even wait around to see her open it. Now a new school year is starting, but I don't have any of the same classes as her. I probably won't ever see her again. Here I am now making a mix tape I probably won't send her, and sharing sob stories with strangers on the internet after midnight.
Thats a very besutiful also sad story💓 Thank you 4sharing. I hope you do get to see her again.Never stop showing your emotions 4others..its nice.Take care
my dad used to play this song on his guitar when I was little, I'd listen to him play it and it always made me smile and also feel a bit sad at the same time, fast forward a few years and I was walking in my neighborhood and the road was empty and this song came on my earbuds, the yellowish streetlights made the vibe perfect. I miss that, I wish I could do it again just to feel something again.
This song have been with me for over 20 years and it will be until they day I die... Its just a master piece and it's part of the soundtrack of my life...
Such a classic tune. “If everything could ever feel this real forever…if anything could ever be this good again” just hits right in the perfect spot. I learned the foo fighters when I was young, loved them, grew up and found new music. I still can come back to their songs like this and marvel at how good they are.
Still remember those many years ago. I was nine, having this Music Class at school, fourth grade. And my teacher, Steven, was the best. The dude from time to time would show us some videoclips. And this was one of them. More than that: we would PLAY this song on the flute. I miss those days. I would eventually have no more classes with him anymore as the years went by. But I’m glad he’s still there. It’s been 10 years ans I’m still here for this song Thanks, Teacher Steven. You were one of the best teachers I’ve ever had
They came out and meant everything. The sound, the loudness, Rock and Roll was back. I’m having a tough time with the news of Taylor’s passing. I thought I’d come back to the video where I first saw him. Man, he was a beast, he could really play. And he looked good in a nightgown. 🙂. Prayers for all affected tonight. RIP TAYLOR HAWKINS.
struggled all day with the news saw them live in Sunderland amazing best band i ve seen live by far just so sad was only 50 ,it's no age believe for sure this is the last we see the Foos again 😢😢
Wait until you are 62 and a favorite song comes on from 50 years ago. The memories come flooding back over the decades in a blink. Have some tissues handy.....
I just woke up to someone blasting this song outside at 3 in the morning. I'm not really happy that I got woken up this early, but at least they have good taste in music.
This video used to come on MTV2 the same time every morning while I was getting up for highschool. It is one of the most nostalgiac songs for me and I love it
i did the same thing in elementary and middle school. during one of those two, I remember waking up early every morning just so I could hear mr brightside
Oh man, when I'm in this mood, Radiohead comes next, then Mazzy Star, an hour later I'm drunk as hell, wiping my snot and howling something to Bob Dylan songs.... ukrainan 35 y.o kid
May your neighbor rest in peace. Life is not eternal, nor is it ever easy- but we can make the most of it. Those around us, and within ourselves to be the best example of what it truly means to be human. To put a positive effect on others hearts as they have done on yours. Enjoy the little moments in life, cause you’ll never know when it’ll end. ❤🖤
Can you imagine someone writing this song about you. One of the most heartbreakingly beautiful songs ever created. About you. Thats her reality. What a song…
+Siguure OwO I would be pleased for Dave, since he was able to go on and become successful afterwards. He didn't let it be the end all, be all of his music career.
+Siguure OwO That's weird though, cause I love both bands it was only about two years ago I knew Dave was part of both, so I wouldn't think he being a part of Nirvana had anything to do with it, well not as much at least.
this was our wedding song. Every time I see this video i think about how much love there is between my husband and I, I wonder off like a teenager and get butterflies in my stomach. I always feel protected with him. He is my hero.
I think I've heard this song maybe 5 million times and it still always still moves me. Right from the first chords it takes you on a journey. A rollercoaster. A short musical adventure. One of the greatest songs of the 90s. Period. RIP Taylor and God bless your family and the Foos
5m times? Lets say the vid is 258 secs long Multiply it by the said amount of times u heard 5m 5,000,000 x 258 =1,290,000,000 secs Or 21,500,000 minutes Or 358,333 hours Or 14,930 days Or 41 years Lets say u listen to it for 8 hours a day that makes u 122 years old.
I always loved how Foo Fighters would pair their songs with all these goofy videos. They were never serious about videos, but they were always completely invested in the songs.
This song is as old as me, and I've probably heard it over a thousand times in my lifetime, and that build up right before the last chorus still gives me chills to this day. Beautiful piece of art.
This was my dad's favorite song, he would sing and play it for me on the guitar. Soon after he even taught me how to play it, but then he passed away 3 days after my birthday this year, he will forever be playing this song for me.
RIP Taylor Hawkins. Crushing, devastating news. There will be no one like you. Terrible loss for Foo Fighters, Rock n Roll, all the fans and above all his family. Thank you for all these incredible drum fills, rhythm and energy you gave us over the years.
@@dannie2712 Thanks Dannie! Of course it was Dave, as Taylor joined after the album was recorded, but I posted this as Taylor's live versions of Everlong were always the finishing highlight of any Foo Fighters concert... and also that transition from bed to drums in the video is hilarious!
One, if not the, best videos and song to come out after the rise and fall of MTV. The Foo Fighters went above n beyond to show their commitment to the craft. Rip T. Hawkins.
This song is before my time, I acknowledge that. All of you guys are a lot braver then me, I’ve spent my whole life not even knowing what a foo is, and you’ve fought them every day. Thank you for your service
Foo fighters are unexplained lights that WWII pilots saw flying near their planes or over cities. They're UFOs, but such a delightfully specific kind of UFO.
I see so many people that have an exact meaning or moment this song defines for them, It meant so many different things at different times in my life, one could only imagine the depth of what this song means to me... I'm just thankful for it...
This song always hit before, but now... now it hits different and it hits *hard*. I've been listening to this song on repeat all day... I don't really know how to put feelings to words right now but damn Taylor, I'm gonna miss you so freaking much... All us Foos fans are... But no matter where you are now, you will always be the pounding, thumping, beating heart of the Foos to us, I can promise you this. I will always remember you as a beaming, goofy, fun-loving, powerhouse of a drummer who was also a kind, gentle, loving and caring family man... RIP Taylor.
I remember hearing this song for the first time. I was 12 and I was in my friends living room. Her mom put it on the tv and as soon as it started, it felt absolutely surreal. I had never felt so much emotion hearing a song for the first time. It was like the room was caving in on me. Beautiful experience tbh.
On the contrary. Good music still exists, we just heard a perfect living example of that. The music of the Beatles, Bach and Nirvana and many others will never go away nor be destroyed by the "industry". My word of advice: Don´t ruin your life listening to today´s bullshit. Instead, listen to bands like FF. Everything is handmade with no autotune bullshit. That is craftsmanship.
i'm no music doctor but this song has a perfect melancholic chord progression and melody and singing. Perfect in that our brains recognize that each next note is expected so we get major dopamine release, or is it serotonin?
Honestly i love this song. I remember my dad listening to this song while i was half asleep in the backseat. It's been a couple years but whenever he gets the chance he'll introduce songs like this to me. Me and him love listening to song like this. I don't listen to songs like this with my mother anymore but i still enjoy the times when we did.. I might not have the best relationship with my parents but i still love them no matter if everything has changed. Edit: This is still my favorite song, probably of all time. I still dont have the greatest relationship with my parents but that's because they never really try to.. But at least those times with them will always be worth it.
I do this with my older daughter. She is only 13 but she already has a great taste in music. Try and fix your relationship with your parents, if you don't, you will regret it when you no longer have the chance to fix it.
Honestly... watching this again is making me realize how short life is. I remember seeing this music video on MTV now it's 2022 and realizing how old this is makes me miss the 90's and early 2000's I wish I could go back one more time. But never can this song was a favorite of mine. And always will be. Besides my mid life crisis here. Seeing how Dave progressed as a human over the years after nirvana, he has seen it all and done it all. You are incredible I wish I could say it to your face. Maybe one day.
I’m 25 and I miss the culture from when I was growing up. I would love to go back to the year 1990 and live from my age there now. Seems like such a simple time and everything was good.
Man, I am 19 and I listened to this song for the first time (in it's entirety) yesterday. I was born in 2002 and I still agree, it makes me want to go back in time. Even before I was born.
The Foo Fighters were one of the plenty of bands I listened when growing up, even to this day I listen to their music. It really hit worse than a ton of bricks hearing about Taylor Hawkins passing away I'm just in a loss of words... 💔 RIP Taylor, you'll be rocking in heaven.
This is so nostalgic. When I was a kid I used to always sit in the back of the car and my dad would play foo fighters. This was my all time fave. I had no idea what they were saying, I didn’t speak English so I was just babbling. But we were always having the best time jamming driving home from school
The Foo Fighters are awesome Also I know this is completely off-topic, but what does English sound like to non-English speakers? (I’m a native English speaker, I wouldn’t know, and I’m curious)
@@firestorm-1154 There's a video here on TH-cam from some time ago now, it's called 'How English sounds to non-English speakers' by a channel Brian & Karl, pretty interesting if you wanna check it out bud
One of the best music videos of all time. In the 90s there was so much creativity in music and in videos that I thought everything would continue that way, but to my surprise in the 2000s a lot of that momentum was lost and in a few short years I became nostalgic for the 90s. To re-watch the old videos I would have to play cassette tapes from the times I recorded them on TV. The great thing about the future is how easy it is now to access the past!
Taylor busting out of his nightgown and bed to reveal his drum kit always cracked me up. If any man can be in Dave's band and play drums, that man earned Dave's respect and so he deserves YOUR respect. RIP Taylor Hawkins ❤️
Omg yes..Was always hilarious to me to see him dressed up.. lol but that jumping out of the bed scene was always my fave. He was a beast on the drums. His playing always reminded me of the rapid fire of a machine gun.. especially that part of the song. He will definitely be missed. 🤍🕊🕊✨✨
This was our wedding song. After 5 years divorced, I can finally listen to it again, without falling apart. What a beautiful song. Thank you Foo Fighters. This song takes away my hate, and reminds me to love what he was to me, for the time that was meant to be. We have children together, it matters to forgive, move on, accept, and make peace with what is, and who we are. PS. I'm still working on the accoustic version. That's a tough one not to fall apart....sigh.
I got Everlong tattooed on me about 10 years ago, 5 years ago Dave Grohl actually saw and commented on it. Seriously almost passed out. This has been my favorite song for 15 years and nothing has changed. It is a masterpiece.
My fiancee passed away 6 years ago on this day... This was her favourite song and it always reminds me of the best times I had in my life because of her and what could have been.. RIP Lilo 💔
I'm 16 years old and currently studying abroad. Whenever I listen to this song, 'If everything could ever be this real forever If anything could ever be this good again' This lyrics makes me emotional all the time.
Crazy being a drummer and thinking Kurt is so talented. And then you just give a shot. And the rest is history. Morale of the story. Everyone has that shot.
I never really cared for this song. If anything I was aware of it, nothing more. I woke up yesterday with it stuck in my head and I went on to have the most awesome day of the year. I'm now obsessed with this song.
This song remains one of my favorites by the Foo Fighters, but above all I think of Dave who, despite having lost Kurt, Taylor and his mother, has the courage and will to continue playing for all of us but above all for them, this makes him a super hero of today, I love you Dave thanks for brightening my days, you too, like Kurt, help me to move forward and never give up!
This song made me an instant fan, I can’t tell you how much Foo Fighters’ music has uplifted my soul. I don’t think there is a big enough debt I could pay them back for the creation of this song, which has calmed and soothed my depression and saved my life. They probably will never read this but bless these guys for their music and making life worth wanting to live.
That's how I feel with My Hero. I was 10 when it came out. The energy those guitars provided was wicked. Lifted my soul out of any funk. I remember when I heard that on the radio in gym class I wanted to run harder, work out harder, etc.
@@germanenglishengineer2054 my mom got me into rock and foo fighters Is one of the first bands she showed me and my hero has to be my favorite song by them.
i haven’t listened to the Foo Fighters in sooooo long. Revisiting this song is bittersweet to say the least. One of the first rock songs I ever listened to. RIP TAYLOR HAWKINS.
I love how perfectly this video captures the absurdities of dreams. From the giant hand to the shrinking room that leads to a giant telephone and Hawkins still being tied to the chair while running in the forest. It's just pure perfection.
The crazy thing about dreams is that when you are in the dream, it's as real as being awake. What's crazier is if you can realize you are dreaming while dreaming then take over the dream. I've only managed to do that once in my life and the dang alarm clock woke up me soon after.
Agree broo, i listened to this song when i'm pumped up, this song help me through my worst break up, help me through my final test, when i'm driving, a lullaby before i sleep, hell... i guess this song might be played in my funeral as well
Matthew Couplan I love the acoustic version. I think it’s a fantastic version of this song, and Dave does it like no one else ever does. To this day, I’ve never heard a cover of Everlong (acoustic or full band) that even came close to sounding as badass as the original.
Thank you for uploading these videos, we literally had the greatest era of music...music today sucks, the 1990s were the best...foo fighters, nirvana, beck, smashing pumpkins, alice in chains, pearl jam, soundgarden, janes addiction, to name a few
I remember my Dad throwing a FF CD in his car right at the start of lockdown, 4 years later it's still in there. We were lucky enough to go to the first London show last month, and I'll fully hold my hands up and admit that I cried. 5 times. Dave is a true showman and he has a lyric for every emotion in the book. How can I be blasting the same song before a race and during heartbreak. I'm 18 and I'm already set on this to be my first wedding song. Happy that whatever, I'll always have the car journeys as a teenager with my dad bottled up in these songs.
I'm 17 but I feel like these songs are from my time, I've been listening to them since I was a kid and I couldn't be more grateful to whoever taught them to me
@@Jjiutsufate I first listened to this about a month ago after a friend introduced it to me, been loving this song and rock/metal songs (especially from the early - mid 2000's) ever since. I don't regret it. Rock on :)
I believe I recently saw the lead singer from the Foo Fighters on public transit around the area where I live and I wrote something to him on the back of one of my "girlie girl" drawings and gave it to him!! It was very private😮, and not for everyone to know about 😢. I did not ask if I could bare child for him, as I am Toolong past those years....😅....I did, however, express to him that Everlong is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. To me it reminds me of a guy I loved so much, and though our time together was short, my love for him is forever. Thank you for such an amazing song!😊
Grew up on the Foo Fighters. The recent news is devastating. My little brother was named after Taylor Hawkins. Can't believe Dave has to go through this again, my thoughts are with him, the band and Taylor's friends & family. Rest in peace and power king.
People dont want to be "Depressed" by "despressing music". They wantto feel cool, sexual, on top of the world...So they go to other types of songs instead of relying on songs like these that remind of us of more important things than their shit. That's part of why bands like these dont get enough attention
@@BeccaCalaRoarr3 of course it isnt dead. but the number of people appreciating better music is decreasing. The numbers go higher when it comes to things related to sex and violence... unless maybe the songs were put on the radio? It's hard to say. The instant we walked into the house she says, "can we go downstairs in the music room, and can you play me my favorite song everlong?"
It was 130AM and I was exhausted but I instantly said "absolutely" and played it twice on my favorite Tele.

Rest In Peace Taylor. A moment of silence to one of the greatest drummers to ever exist. You shall always be in our hearts. fly high sweet one.

Umm, he is age 25 now...if you read his full comment you'd see he felt that way 11 years ago. Francisco - we wish you successful adulting!
Benjamin Khoury I read this first and thought you said you gave her a pearl necklace on her b day (when you’re older you’ll understand)

It’s been 10 years ans I’m still here for this song
Thanks, Teacher Steven. You were one of the best teachers I’ve ever had

One of the best music videos of all time. In the 90s there was so much creativity in music and in videos that I thought everything would continue that way, but to my surprise in the 2000s a lot of that momentum was lost and in a few short years I became nostalgic for the 90s.
Be a better human being, for yourself, and others.
I took my 13 year old daughter to see Foo Fighters in 1997. She saw them again with her husband in 2017. Best band ever.
wholesome af
Nirvana my dear
Coolest mom ever
i haven’t listened to the Foo Fighters in sooooo long. Revisiting this song is bittersweet to say the least. One of the first rock songs I ever listened to. RIP TAYLOR HAWKINS.
@nasser wiz pleb!
@nasser wiz bro what
I'm so addicted to this song & video! I've watched it over 75 x & still can't get enough! ❤😂🎉
if only alternative rock could ever be this good again
Amen

AND I WONDER
And nothing but thieves
I love how perfectly this video captures the absurdities of dreams. From the giant hand to the shrinking room that leads to a giant telephone and Hawkins still being tied to the chair while running in the forest. It's just pure perfection.
this music video is priceless bro im in love with it
Hawkins chair is a joke :D
The crazy thing about dreams is that when you are in the dream, it's as real as being awake. What's crazier is if you can realize you are dreaming while dreaming then take over the dream. I've only managed to do that once in my life and the dang alarm clock woke up me soon after.
I've heard this song over 1,000 times and it still has never gotten old. I think it actually gets better every time I hear it.
Agree broo, i listened to this song when i'm pumped up, this song help me through my worst break up, help me through my final test, when i'm driving, a lullaby before i sleep, hell... i guess this song might be played in my funeral as well
Mr Jay I want it on loop at my funeral. I can’t go a single day without hearing this song. Ever since I was seven, I haven’t heard a better song.
Tyler Gaskell if you haven’t already listen to the acoustic version. Can’t decide what version is the best
Matthew Couplan I love the acoustic version. I think it’s a fantastic version of this song, and Dave does it like no one else ever does. To this day, I’ve never heard a cover of Everlong (acoustic or full band) that even came close to sounding as badass as the original.
Although, I do personally prefer the full band version of the song, I absolutely love the acoustic version.
Thank you for uploading these videos, we literally had the greatest era of music...music today sucks, the 1990s were the best...foo fighters, nirvana, beck, smashing pumpkins, alice in chains, pearl jam, soundgarden, janes addiction, to name a few
My 13 year old brother is playing this song right now upstairs as I study... and all I could do is just smileeeeeeeee.
+scottrolen27mvp He is learning to what the 90's was like...ahh
"study" on youtube
+scottrolen27mvp your 13 yr old brother is a genius and a legend.
+Diamond Dog lol I loved this song since I was 9. My bro was playing guitar hero online and some random kid picked this song out and we both loved it
+scottrolen27mvp You got an awesome brother
I remember my Dad throwing a FF CD in his car right at the start of lockdown, 4 years later it's still in there. We were lucky enough to go to the first London show last month, and I'll fully hold my hands up and admit that I cried. 5 times. Dave is a true showman and he has a lyric for every emotion in the book. How can I be blasting the same song before a race and during heartbreak. I'm 18 and I'm already set on this to be my first wedding song. Happy that whatever, I'll always have the car journeys as a teenager with my dad bottled up in these songs.
Ah that’s a nice thing to read
Agree 🗿🔥
Hi I recommend a song that Is Called 'LifeChanges' BY Robert Nix
I'm 17 but I feel like these songs are from my time, I've been listening to them since I was a kid and I couldn't be more grateful to whoever taught them to me
This song transcends time
I'm 18 and I feel the same way. It just means we have kick ass parents!!! 🤟🤟
any young kid who listens to this instead of that gen z rap bullshit is free to be considered as one of us
@@Jjiutsufate me 😂
@@Jjiutsufate I first listened to this about a month ago after a friend introduced it to me, been loving this song and rock/metal songs (especially from the early - mid 2000's) ever since.

The reversion of their music to graphics was cutting edge, unmatched...
I don't understand how a genre like this could die. Alternative rock was amazing!
People dont want to be "Depressed" by "despressing music". They wantto feel cool, sexual, on top of the world...So they go to other types of songs instead of relying on songs like these that remind of us of more important things than their shit. That's part of why bands like these dont get enough attention
loll r u kidding it aint dead or what were told "dead" is at all!
@@BeccaCalaRoarr3 of course it isnt dead. but the number of people appreciating better music is decreasing. The numbers go higher when it comes to things related to sex and violence... unless maybe the songs were put on the radio? It's hard to say. But a lot of people dont ant to be "depressed". they dont fucking realize that the opposite of depression is stress and stress comes from caring and it's a type of emotion.
@@XKnightLightX I get your mentality, it stopped "decreasing" when we say/&said its not and the more we say/*said it and ya explain that daily to those who had *Passed tanse) it wrong and not how it was intended. so ya I know there are basic words and ways to communicate simple things though just dont say that "(you would see a decline of hard core Rock music)" and ergo it aint! I know u get it *got it Roarr!!!
@@BeccaCalaRoarr3 So basically, you're telling me that whether or not rock is dying, if we say it doesn't and if we do our part to keep it up, then it will keep on going. therefore, instead of talking about how rock is dying, we just go "roar!" xD?
Thank you everyone for the kind words!
My father passed away 2 weeks ago. This was one of his favourite songs from the Foo Fighters. He and i are big fans and went to see them live a few years ago. It was one of the best moments of my life, wish you where here dad. Rest in peace
May he rest in peace as a legend

My condolences. I lost my dad on February 28th. Wish I could say it gets easier. Just cherish all the great memories you had with him. Blessings
