  • Here's a look at the DJ equipment I'm currently using for mobile events & some explanation as to why I've chosen these particular pieces. Quality in no way has been compromised & on top of trimming the fat to get to bare essentials, there are some really great unexpected benefits to most every piece I'm using.

    Very helpful tip on the wireless, battery-powered LED lights. Thanks

    Bought a Roland 707m this week just for efficiency, I'm doing 4 events every week these winter months and finally justified buying it after years of recommending it after I demoed one.
    PS disabled with A.S. (same condition Motley Crues guitar player has)
    Dumbed it down instead a getting all medical lol.

      I've had my 707m for about 2 year and I love it!

    I admire your appreciation for simplicity Brian. I’m a mobile DJ/disabled veteran (lower back) I’ve simplified my set up to
    -2 10inch tops
    - 1 15 inch subwoofer (if needed)
    Any gig that needs more of an arsenal of speakers my son helps out. When set up correctly these smaller systems can be very affective 👍🏼

      I feel you I'm 74 and started using 12" Mackies that I bought some time ago. The Thumps are real smooth. plus I mostly do house parties Later! . Dj's keep those records spinning Oh Yeah!

    I’m older and can’t lift like I used to, so I run turbosound units with towers, 30 lbs and the towers are about 10 lbs, the two will rock any venue I’ve ever done, I have everything mounted in a roller case so easy hook up, I load everything on my cart using my vans Wheel chair lift! Ya got to improvise to make it work for you

      I'm old too but I use 18lb JBLs . Wirelessly as well. I can set 2 or 3 of them all around the room. Plus I sold my stupid up lights, they are a hassle and the batteries don't last. No more having to remember to charge them
      Plus I don't have road cases but soft cases. I have one road case for the wireless. I'm in and out so fast it will your head spin.

    Your solutions are great for all of us to get inspiration from! All of your videos on your uplighting, and how to light up the perimeter of the dance floor has inspired me to do the same. Thank you!

    This topic comes at a great time! My set up time has been about two and a half hours this year and I really want to streamline the process. Thanks for the advice and gear recommendations!

      @@DayNNyteDJs so true. When I’m done I’m basically throwing cables into totes and trying to get out asap. Repacking everything the next day is a now a given.

      My friend, get some array systems! Build everything into a road case. My tear down...well venues love me because I am loading my car in 12 minutes. Literally. And I have put SO much thought into my set up and pack out. I usually pick up my 12 uplights during the last dance. Then after the last dance ends, and I outro the wedding, I play the couples Private Last Dance via iPad, bluetoothed to my system (Maui 44's). That lets me pack up my controller, which is in a road case, containing my mic and power strip. The road case has plate mounted power and XLR. I plug two cables into the back of my flight case and am good to go. But by the end of the private last dance I have my road case packed, cables coiled and all I need to do is pack up the speaker, coil the power cord for it and fold up my facade and table. I have put a ton of time and effort into my set up and tear down. You do 100+ weddings a year and every 10 minutes you can save will add up.

    Great video! For me with 80-100 people at an event, I use 2 x 18" subs and 4 x 10" tops just so I can blast them and then they will know I am awesome LOL...

    I love my wireless up lights. Also, I don’t mind a couple totems some proper movers on top. Yeah I bought the cheaper ones but I have a bunch of them so if anything fails I have back up then when i start making more money I’ll get some higher quality lights

    column arays are heavy. I have he RCF j8. they're still heavy and hard to handle because the only have a top grab handle.
    Then there's the tubular booths which are heavy. then through in some logistics like steps to the house/road and similar at UK venues.

    Do those column arrays put out decent bass from the subs?

    • @briansredd
      @briansredd  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not going to give you Earth shaking unnatural sub-40 htz Hip Hop bass, but it's clean & tight mid bass, which is what I want to achieve my sound objectives

    Are you referring to 150 guests per speaker or both?

    • @briansredd
      @briansredd  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Both for a typical mobile gig. These do 123 DB. Figure the Evolve 50's are 127 DB.

    Do you ever feel like the more money a client is paying you the bigger your system should be?

    • @briansredd
      @briansredd  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Nah, that's like saying that the more expensive my car repair is, the more tools the mechanic needs to use. It's never a physical size thing. It is an appropriate sound level & ambient lighting thing 100%. Too much is too much & not enough is too little.
