There is something at once very Canadian and Scandinavian about this cover. It evokes two northern landscapes, shrouded in a sombre mood, and fused into one audio-visual creation. The video captures Canadian rusticity in the darkening month of November while the cello’s voice is suffused with Katatonia’s dark lyricism. This is a beautiful ode to a heavy heart, openly expressive of vulnerability and loss, and thus wholly universal.
"I’m quite proud of how this one turned out and I feel that it captures the sorrow and heartache of the original track." Heck yeah it does! This is a gorgeous arrangement. Achingly beautiful. Kudos, and thank you for sharing this with us!
Very nice cover, inspired arrangement and playing. The cello is such an incredible instrument... And when you play it, you can feel its vibrations on your heart.
Thank you so much for doing more Katatonia..! You take these ethereal songs and make them even more otherworldly. Would love to hear Sold Heart someday 🖤🌹
Three years ago, your 9 cellos version of "Hand.Cannot.Erase." induced my index finger to twitch, but I was not prepared for what poured through my ears in the aftermath of that tiny movement. Now, I am fully prepared and don't click because of the artist/song you have transformed; I know that little motion of my finger will unleash a torrent of "eyebrows". Achingly beautiful approaches my sense of this, but there are really no words that describe how moving this is. Thank you!
Always so grateful for your kind, heartfelt words! 🙏 It means a great deal that the love and care put into this piece reached you in the form of pure emotion 🖤
@@RaphaelWeinrothBrowne I can't overstate how obvious it is that you are motivated by love to invest as much care as you do in the creation of these masterpieces, and shame on me for not saying something about the beautiful video - love these open air "concerts". I think Stephen Pinker is full of crap when he refers to music as cotton candy for the language networks of the brain - we were musical before spoken words; music is our first language, and it communicates pure emotion better than words. 🖤 BTW, I'm just relieved that I'm not being annoying with my verbose comments. :)
@@kevincrowley6975 Absolutely, I care so deeply about crafting something special with each of these songs and definitely obsess over quality... maybe to a fault 😅 I agree 100%, music is far more than cotton candy and I believe that its ability to heal and bring people together is undeniable. Not at all, I quite enjoy reading your thoughtful comments! 😊
@@RaphaelWeinrothBrowne "...maybe to a fault" Only you would know about that; we just apprehend the wonder of what you craft. I'm truly grateful that you obsess over the quality, as long as it isn't a problem for you. There's a line between communicating one's appreciation and becoming a nuisance. I only intend the former, but my appreciation is such that feel myself veering into the latter. Just know that my intentions are good. :)) I'm just an "old man" with a passion for craftsmanship and music. In the Venn diagram where those two circles overlap resides a cellist who consistently crafts something very special, indeed! Until the next release... 😊
