Try replacing the electric idle air control valve with a manual one from 38 motorsports. You can pull the idle adjust knob out and it acts like a choke on a carburetor. Mine used to do the same thing
If I tap the starter button once or twice before I cold start it, it'll fire right up. Not sure why but it works lol once it's warm it fires right up no problem. I'm probably gonna get it dyno tuned at some point to make sure it's dialed in. Runs great otherwise! Beats a Raptor 700r if you watch my YFZ vs Raptor video!
I have 2 450's with the vortex. One has the GYTR Pipe n the other the HMF Pipe. Neither one has trouble starting and the weather by me was between 20 and 30 degrees. There's got to be another reason why your quad won't start with the vortex.
To fix the hard starting plug the stock ecu back it start it and shut off then plug the vortex in turn key in till fuel pump shuts off start it let it idle for at least 1 min before touching the throttle that will fix you problems on the hard start
GT thunder manual idle adjuster will fix that. Easy to swap. My 16 had the same problem with the Vortex. Was worse when it had the stock exhaust and airbox lid on.
@@Itsjustacoyotee the other thing I found that helped was cranking it for a second and letting it sit like you did in the video, however I never flipped the key on and off. Seemed to help out quite a bit before I got the manual idle adjuster.
@noinstaphil I'll try it once without kicking the key off, it's still cold as shit here in Wisconsin so that isn't helping either, hoping within the new few weekends here I can actually get it out and ride it and make some videos on it
Dude it should not be starting that hard. Did you mess with your tps at all before you got the Vortex? I only ask because my YFZ started slowly and had a terrible idle until i reset my TPS back to factory. (with the vortex) Also what map do you have it set on?
The high idle is normal too, sometimes if it's too high it can be adjusted though. I'm not sure if you can manually do it or if that's in the tune though..
@@Itsjustacoyotee I've seen on the bnr motorsports TH-cam channel that they set the tps sensor to .689, thinking that can be the fix. Does yours get a check engine light on at start up then goes away
@@angelmoralez226 Yes it does, engine light pops on for maybe 5 seconds then shuts off. I'm pretty sure it did that even when it was completely stock actually
I really like the colors of your bike. I'm having problems with the rpm jumping up and down after warming up and backfires. I installed an Empire exhaust, new plug and air filter but keeps doing it. Any idea on what should I be checking for to fix it? Thanks.
You think that’s normal? I’d lose my shit if mine did that haha. My 2021 has basically everything yours has and it starts right up every time no matter how long it sits. Did you get a dyno tune after everything was installed?
I didn't get a dyno tune, but it was a custom tune. I rode it more and now it fires right up, might have just needed to ride it more lol not sure if they need to learn or not like a truck does
I'm not sure honestly.. you could probably get away with it but I still recommend tuning it shortly after installing the exhaust if you can because they run really lean from factory
@@Itsjustacoyotee I just ordered my vlog setup and hope to start putting out some content soon. If you ever make it to southern part of Indiana well have to meet up for a group ride at one of the Offroad parks. The badlands is top tier riding
Only starts hard when it's cold, worse for me because it's only about 30-40 degrees in my garage right now.. but once it's warm it starts right up! I know it's kind of annoying, but trust me it will really make your quad come to life and run so much better
Just giving you a hard time. Was thinking of purchasing this for my 23 kx250. Are they just plug and play with already loaded pre existing maps? Did you feel a good power difference thanks!
@Risky avb yes they are preloaded with multiple maps, and I noticed a big difference on my yfz! Really woke up the quad and got rid of the little bog that these are known for when you first hit the throttle. I feel like I definitely gained some low end power!
On the carb model I can crank it fine on initial start up. And I get to riding and I stall it for wateva reason it hard cranks like the video but if I wait for like 15 20 secs after it stall it cranks fine. And I hit kill switch it'll crank right up only when I stall it. Any ideas?

I always wait for the fuel pump to prime up before cranking it.
I think you change the tps settings to .679 or something like that it’ll fix it.
I haven’t tied it tho.
Pulling the clutch lever in helps start the quad a lot easier.
