    Hey Jeff.
I'm 47 years old and have never had a beard before.
I met my girl who is 28 last summer and in the end of last year she asked me if I would consider growing a beard.
I told her I've never thought of it but was open to the idea.
She gave me a Percy Nobleman complete beard kit for christmas and I havent shaved since then.
3 months in I love my beard and get tons of compliments basicly every day. (i have around 300 coworkers)
When people ask why I grow a beard I tell them the truth, that my girlfriend made my try it but I love it for myself.

Hey Jeff - what a great, candid video! I stumbled across this today, and the timing was right-on. I'm 4 full months into growing my beard (mainly white/gray with some brown parts on my cheeks). Until today, I was pretty dissatisfied with a rather small sparce area practically in the center of my chin, but your comments got me to me realize that I need to look at the strengths or the positive side of what I've grown to date and not to dwell on that one negative aspect. I plan to follow you more closely and perhaps even get a chance to talk to you. For now -- so long bearded buddy!!

I can tell you this, there is a big difference in how people respond to me when I keep my beard short or when I grow it much longer. And I found that if you can actually grow a proper DENSE beard (like yours), it is more so associated with masculinity/aggression and being that I can grow a beard that's dense like yours I do see a huge difference in how people talk to me, more respect, and the way women treat me (like a man, not a boy), and attraction is definitely higher in that aspect especially when I'm fully bulked up.
I do however think that a long beard that's not dense gives you that "wise man" look but doesn't give you that masculine warrior look as much as a dense thick beard does, which is why I think those studies have very mixed results.
I would love to see a study where they compare masculine perceivability and beard density instead of solely focusing on length.

I can vouch for this…..I’m almost 46 and recently got on the dating apps….
Got a very white/grey 10 days stubble going and you wouldn’t believe the attention I’m getting from women of all ages…..late 20’s and up.
And what’s the one thing they all say….. There was just something about that beard! And they hint towards me growing it longer because it’s such a turn on ;)

Great video Jeff, I agree with almost everything you said in this video.

Great video and theory and I am sure it works for a lot of men but personally, I feel more confident when I am cleanly shaven, I feel fresh, I feel confident and I feel respectable and trustworthy, I like to dress smart-casual with a shirt and I like to feel fit and healthy. This becomes my persona it gives me confidence which then makes me perform confidently in all aspects of my life. I think having and showing confidence is also a very powerful message and others around you seeing this is attractive to them. When I personally do not shave I feel dirty, unclean and like I am hiding behind something. Anyway, these are only my personal thoughts and what works best for me. Keep up the great content, i love it.

Awesome video Jeff. I'm 40 years old and about a year into my beard from being clean shaven pretty much most of my adult life and I have noticed a profound difference in my social life. Almost shocking. It's like I'm an entirely different person. Wild. I've noticed that women in general stand closer to me. They're overall just more engaging and males seem to respect me a lot more.

there is also a certain elegance in a beard, in the fact that a man can play with the slight "negligence" (French word I think is also used in English) aesthetic that a beard offers.
This is an aesthetic I pursue : a clean beard but also purposefully associated with slightly messy hair.
it is an aesthetic that needs to be understood before trying to be pulled off.
but I think it is at the core of what elegance is : mastering the nuances of "désinvolture"( another French word).

    • @dempart5558

I should add that there is the dangerous move of not trimming the mustache. I think it can be pulled off with the understanding explained above...

When I grow a beard, some people flirt with me. When I shave my beard, those who have been flirting stop interacting with me. But the same amount of new people start to compliment. From my experience, the beard / no beard ratio is 50 / 50.

Every time I grow a beard, it becomes very irritating and even painful to my facial skin. Some call this "hard" beard. Is there a way to fix that crap? I've tried oils, beard softeners, etc. Nothing seems to work. I'd love to grow a nice beard, and I can, it's just real uncomfortable for the first 6 weeks or so... what do I do?
