I think I found this about 6 or 7 years ago and I still find it hilarious. The MiG-21 taxing with Danger Zone playing in the background gets me every time haha
The footage came from two DVDs I bought on eBay from a seller/store called "North Korean Imports." One was "Aviator Route 010" and the other was "Father and Five Sons in the Air." He's got a lot of other fun videos for sale, too!
Actually, the F-5 "Aggressor MIGs" in the Top Gun film (and in real life) are supposed to emulate the performance characteristics of the MiG -21s shown here in this DPRK patriotic film
Wow, the response is almost overwhelmingly positive. Thanks for the feedback! I know I've been sparse on video production lately, but I'm in a rather intense job right now, and it takes up most of my time--and sucks most of the life right out of me. But anyways, thanks again!
This is a wondeful Documentary about the North Korean Military. I believe that's their current equipment. Last time American Top Guns where flying over the 38th parallel they reported that North Korean pilots would stop peddling to open the canopy and throw stones. Intel is the North Korean Navy has just finished installing glass bottoms on its new gunboats so it can look down and remind itself of what happened to the old North Korean Navy.
+Kevlar Burrito Updated Mig 21's have been quite successful against F-15's used by India in international airforce games. The Mig 21 as a jet is still highly maneuverable and fast. The systems used are outdated. Retrofitting these old beasts have given them a new life.
What makes this even funnier for me is that in the movie, the MiG-28s used the NK Air Force roundel. Don't ask how the hell they got to the Indian Ocean.....
THIS IS GOLD....well done !! Cracked me up big time. You've got to have watched Topgun a few times to recognise the snippets but yeah...very funny mate. Shame it's not longer...
According to U.S. test pilots, the MiG-21 outclassed the F-4 in the large majority of areas. Source: www.slideshare.net/mishanbgd/mi-g-21-and-fighter-maneuverability-in-todays-terms
ATechnique The Vietnam War, for example, proved your point. But still, why send in an F-4 when we could just use an F-16, F-18, F-15, F-22, or an F-35 and wipe out the DPRK's best air forces? JK Yim is referring to the MiG-17 vs F-4. The MiG-17 couldn't handle the F-4. Americans nicknamed the F-4 "MiG Killer" because it dominated the skies in its day.
J.K. Yim According to Wikipedia, the USA lost almost 10,000 aircraft and helicopters during the Vietnam War. About 600 of those were F-4 Phantoms lost in combat. North Vietnam lost about 200 aircraft and helicopters. About 100 were Mig-17s, 86 were Mig-21s. And what about Huey helicopter losses? The USA lost 3,000 Hueys of all types over Vietnam.
@Kilo Byte You forget that the shoot down ratio of fighter Vs. fighter during the Vietnam War was about 2:1 So for every two North Vietnamese planes shot down, the Vietnamese shot down one American plane. Not bad for those rice farmers whose tech experience was mostly bicycles and mopeds. For the US of A however, a shamefull display...
@Kilo Byte I understand. It was NOT FAIR They should give you peeps ANOTHER CHANCE Those sneaky VC and NVA were also CHEATING. They refused to stand like real soldiers and be bombed away by your heroic B-52 bombers!
Did you know that the Average American Teenager, has more advanced computer and technology systems in their own bedroom than the Entire Military of North Korea?
+rich6421 no, I think they can, however the average cost of tech in a teens possession is 850 bucks. And you have to consider those who built 50k gaming rigs.
The F-4 Phantom is known as the widest distributor of MiG parts in the world because of it's performance in Vietnam, bettor sensors and communication will always win out versus pure maneuverability.
criuth Um, excuse me. The Indian's were flying Su-30's. Not Mig-21's. And both the Eurofighter and the Su-30 are comparable to the F-15. The Mig-21 couldn't get anywhere near either of these aircraft. Lol.
LMAO! lol The scene, where hes talking to Ice: What's your problem, Kazanski? - You're everyone's problem. That's because every time you go up in the air, you're unsafe. I don't like you because you're dangerous. -Maverick: That's right! Ice... man. I am dangerous . ..loool ..look at their sizes: The first Gen is big, the 2nd normal, the first pilot (Mav) looks like a child in puberty and when he says it to Ice....look at im, he's a dwarf!! *priceless!
Sorry mate, I bought my copies in Korea in 2003. Look for "Aviator Route 010" and "Father and Five Sons in the Air" - those were the English titles of the original movies
Seriously this is so awesome! Really, though I'd cut out some stuff at the beginning you know get right to the action. Other than that - I love it. Great work!
This is so well written and edited, much better than I can do at present. This is a good piece of satire on North Korea and much funnier than North Korea's leading comedy show, "It's so Funny". Indeed, anything's funnier than that.
The F-22 and F-35 use vector thrust missiles that can tell the difference between flares, chaff and an aircraft. The missiles can even shoot targets behind the plane by going forward, doing an 180 and going back to hit the target. Even old missiles can pull over 12g and the best a human can do is just over 9g.
IMDB trivia for film: -Half of DPRK jet fuel reserves were used in shooting this film and half the nation's food was used for catering for cast and crew -The video footage was shot in hi-def quality for North Korean standards -A video game based on the film is in the works, but unlike the American version, it will be first available in 2014 for thier 4-bit consoles -Enemy F-5 fighters were acutually "Mig-28s" -The "alert 5" aircraft had to be re-scripted to "alert 2" due to lack of spares
They're in the movie from '86 Google it "Top Gun MiG-28". They were black-painted F-5 Tigers. TOPGUN kept some of the airframes painted in their movie colors until they were retired.
"You've lost that lovin' feelin'" I nearly lost my sanity then. "Great balls of fire!" Epic, with the MiG trailing flames and really about to become one.
I'm not doubting the F-16 as a capable interceptor, my main problem with it is the fact that in exchange for its speed and maneuverability is that it can not take a hit. Very little armor, only one engine, and the pilot is very exposed and unprotected. It doesn't take much firepower to bring it down.
Quote: " The airplane is an interceptor manufactured by the Russian company Mikoyan-Gurevich (now only Mikoyan), called the MiG-21, referred to by NATO forces as "Fishbed"...Old, but supposedly it can still put up a fight when used by the Indian Air Force. " The Mig 21's used by the Indians are highly modified Mig 21 Bisons, upgraded even further with Israeli F-16 radars and radar jamers.
The footage is, in fact, from two North Korean films: "Aviator Route 010" and "Father and Five Sons in the Air." Look 'em up in previous posts, and yes, that KJI, not Deng, no matter what he "looks like" to you.
JAS 39 Gripen - an multirole/swingrole interceptor made by the Swedish manufacturer SAAB, a highly avanced airplane currently used by the Czech republic, Sweden, South Africa and even the Royal Air Force (RAF) seems to have ordered some. You can google it, 'tis a beautiful plane mate ;) Gripen stands for "Griffin", the mythological beast :)
@ItalianBandit yeah, along with pressure suits because they fly so high - in usaf some pilots actually get their astronaut wings because they fly so high
*200 MIG send off* Leader"For our Great Leader!!!" (20 sec. later) Kim Jong IL "Did our mission was good?'" airport radio "No leader, our troopers died due 2 lack of fuel." Kim Jong IL "Fine, send 200 more MIG with 1/3000000000000000 of fuel." Airport radio " Yes Great Leader"
@Paun991 it's old school, Warsaw Pact G-suit with pressurized helmet - kinda standard issue in what... 60s. - 70s ? Still, suits like that are in use by pilots flying in high-G environment (i.e. air combat). Yet the Korean Mig21s (aka 'Flying Irons') left me in stitches. It's a stuff for museums not modern air combat ;)))))
10 years old... Just as funny today as it was then.
A 10 years old may find ths funny... -.-
18 years old!
I think I found this about 6 or 7 years ago and I still find it hilarious. The MiG-21 taxing with Danger Zone playing in the background gets me every time haha
This is the greatest top gun parody I have ever seen.
Rise and take your place next to "Hot shots" oh noble video!!!
I approve!
The Great Leader Sing Bananarama's "I'm Your Venus"! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!
+TheGamingTyrant be nice to him, he's so ronery......
The footage came from two DVDs I bought on eBay from a seller/store called "North Korean Imports." One was "Aviator Route 010" and the other was "Father and Five Sons in the Air." He's got a lot of other fun videos for sale, too!
They still wear 60s space suits in the cockpit.
The 60's kind of suit were Mig-21 high altitude suits, usuallly for interception
Is it because the MiG wasn't pressurised?
Appreciate that they went through the trouble of wearing space suits but didn’t put the visors down.
This is better than even Top Gun Maverick!
Even that music makes me smile. The cheese, oh the cheese
+TheSkipjack95 Aah yes but there is Dairylee and Rochfort, cheese and classic cheese! LOL
Actually, the F-5 "Aggressor MIGs" in the Top Gun film (and in real life) are supposed to emulate the performance characteristics of the MiG -21s shown here in this DPRK patriotic film
This video never gets old
Wow, the response is almost overwhelmingly positive. Thanks for the feedback!
I know I've been sparse on video production lately, but I'm in a rather intense job right now, and it takes up most of my time--and sucks most of the life right out of me. But anyways, thanks again!
LMAO - that was priceless.
My favorite scene was when they were all line up on the tarmac singing "you've lost that loving feeling"
Cheers
i watch this once in a while. youtube classics.
Oh man that was good. I really liked the blurb in the beginning. And the formation singing "Lovin' Feelin'". I'm still laughing about it. WELL DONE!!!
is this an prehistoric meme about north korea?
The Mig-21 is no longer one of the finest jets ever produced. It's outclassed, outflown, and outgunned by 98% of the planes in service in the West
+Kevlar Burrito
Updated Mig 21's have been quite successful against F-15's used by India in international airforce games.
The Mig 21 as a jet is still highly maneuverable and fast. The systems used are outdated. Retrofitting these old beasts have given them a new life.
Ehhh Id say 80, not 98
Two films: "Aviator Route 010" and "Father and Five Sons in the Air"
What makes this even funnier for me is that in the movie, the MiG-28s used the NK Air Force roundel.
Don't ask how the hell they got to the Indian Ocean.....
Jokes on you, Top Gun movie was first made by Kim Jong Un. But, still this clip was awesome.
been thinking about this video since I watched Top gun maverick. cant believe its still around
THIS IS GOLD....well done !! Cracked me up big time. You've got to have watched Topgun a few times to recognise the snippets but yeah...very funny mate. Shame it's not longer...
This is by FAR the best video i've seen on youtube!
I'm surprised Kim Jong Un has not commented on this video yet.
Damn 18 years old.
F-4 Phantom II vs. MiG-21 Fishbed...Fishbed becomes a victim of the "World's Largest Distributor of MiG Parts!"... :D

Those sneaky VC and NVA were also CHEATING. They refused to stand like real soldiers and be bombed away by your heroic B-52 bombers!
Great vid. The entire North Korean air force is what the US 7th Fleet calls a "target-rich environment." Those Mig 21s didn't even scare Golda Meir.
@ 1:46 the one on the left looks like Korean Tom Criuse! XD
i love all the technical data you provided to back up that statement...
*At the Expense of its starving population and Crumbling Economic infrastructure*
HAHAHAHHA
Awesome. I laughed out loud (LOL) at the "you lost that loving feeling" part.
Hahaha I fell off the chair :D
This is a VERY well made video! I loved that bit with the CLASSIFIED DATA and "Charlie"
hilarious. wouldve watched 2 hrs worth!
You gotta love those MIG-21s. Here is Romania, there is a slang term between MIG pilots "flight tube (pipe)"
north korea...(Atari) threatens USA with 10,000 dollar gaming PC technology.. lol
+brett bender that's why we don't take their threats seriously, just the nutt in the nutt ward spouting mouth but can't do anything cus he's a puss
+brett bender Wrong, we are building a 1 billion dollar defense system on the west coast because of them and a huge military presence at their border
Did you know that the Average American Teenager, has more advanced computer and technology systems in their own bedroom than the Entire Military of North Korea?
Intel Core i7 6900k (overclocked to 6.6Ghz) You really think they cant get a cheep laptop?
+rich6421 no, I think they can, however the average cost of tech in a teens possession is 850 bucks. And you have to consider those who built 50k gaming rigs.
One hell of nice work, Major ^^.
I can tell you put in lots of effort too.
Looking forward your next production !!!
This is a spoof, but the MiG 21 beat the SHIT out of a lot of American Fighters during the Vietnam War-
Then the North Korean pilots encounter a modern day US fighter Jet.. all they would say about it is..well nothing, they'd be gone.
That's what they want you to think. Not one Mig-21 shot down an American Fighter. Not one.
The F-4 Phantom is known as the widest distributor of MiG parts in the world because of it's performance in Vietnam, bettor sensors and communication will always win out versus pure maneuverability.
The whole squadron f-22 can destroy the entire mig-21 even the north korean Air Force
criuth Um, excuse me. The Indian's were flying Su-30's. Not Mig-21's. And both the Eurofighter and the Su-30 are comparable to the F-15. The Mig-21 couldn't get anywhere near either of these aircraft. Lol.
Haha this is comedy gold!! Can't believe I only just stumbled across this :-D
LMAO! lol

0:27 Kim Jong Il's stunts: Vin Diesel 😂
In the 1986 movie Top Gun, there were US F-5s playing MiGs--in the movie they're called the MiG-28--they wore North Korean markings.
Is there a chance to see the original film somewhere?
Sorry mate, I bought my copies in Korea in 2003. Look for "Aviator Route 010" and "Father and Five Sons in the Air" - those were the English titles of the original movies
The ending "Great Balls of fire" haha, laugh my ass off :D :D
LOL, well done! Almost perfectly synchronized with the dialogue!
Seriously this is so awesome! Really, though I'd cut out some stuff at the beginning you know get right to the action. Other than that - I love it. Great work!

i would pay serious money to see this in theaters
@abc153649 : that's the 'high altitude pressurized suit' for mig-21. they use them only during high altitude operations.
Its perfect. I came to saw it again after the resent video of NK missle testing.
a noble prize award is waitng for doing this ....
Jaded Major, you're a real American hero. We need more like you.
That's really the helmet that comes with the MiG-21.
That Kim lady seems remarkably accomplished for an old grandma, didn't realized she directed as well as starred.
IMDB trivia for film:

They're in the movie from '86
Google it "Top Gun MiG-28".

Epic, with the MiG trailing flames and really about to become one.
This is too goddamn great I can't barely believe this video actually exists.
One of the funniest things I watched recently on youtube.
Good job. :)

i started cracking up just with the intro credits
Superb. I never knew "little kim" was so talented.
The MiG-21 is a great aircraft. It just became outdated by the early 1970's when the F-14 went active.
hope he gave himself an oscar for this masterpiece
lol, how their mouths synced with the scene is just awesome
this after years is a classic in you tube lol
hahaha this is so brilliant and those fricken MiG-21 Fishbeds look like old space shuttles!
That was the most awesome vid I've seen since I don't know when! Really good job!!!
I never knew the dear leader was so talented!
Gestures were perfect! Especially the scene at 2:22.
1:55 thru 2:18 were also good.
When representing the National Team.I bet Kim plays all the positions in Baseball. At the same time! ! !
Well done. Much better than my RONK Topgun.
@cokgec
The music is from Top Gun. It is from the opening carrier launch scene.
I for some reason think its sooo humorous even though this school is real.
Nice video..well done and entertaining. Thanks for posting.

I fell off my chair when I saw vin diesel
I wonder what all of that officers medals are for? Pilot say to girl"Hey, Jobosayo. Want to go back to my room and we can slurp up some kimchee?

Hahahaha
i balled out with laughter at 1:56!! that was an epic win!!!
@ItalianBandit yeah, along with pressure suits because they fly so high - in usaf some pilots actually get their astronaut wings because they fly so high

Haha cool video! I wonder where the original NK film came from, and when was it made...
@Metals999 It's a pressure suit, the early Mig's did not have pressureised cockpits.
Yeah this is the real championsleague of Air Forces world wide.....

Hey! This is a great video. I wonder how can I download the full version? Thank's a lot!
The name of this film ???
Matias Morales Top Gun The original version
@@GoogleGebruiker lmao
Coincidentally, it was the MiG-21's high kill rate against American jets in Vietnam that spurned on the development of the Top Gun program.
