    I honestly never noticed Nigel just standing around… menacingly… xD That’s such a great detail! Extra fun when Buttons accuses Izzy of being a spirit when the beach is actually ‘haunted’.

    4:40 Another detail is that Alaska wasn’t officially “discovered” until 1741 and very few knew it existed.

    Have to say, Collodi wrote Pinocchio more than a century later, and it was first published in 1883 as post-unification efforts in Italy also comprised the need for pedagogy and shared values across divided regions. THAT SAID, I do not give a flying F only because it makes everyone on board so happy

      The flag at the end of the show isn't his flag either. honestly no one knows what his flag looked like. historians think it was much closer to a classic jolly roger and that the one that's mainstream would be way to ornate for him, but in the end it's a mystery

    Maybe I missed something... but Frenchie’s flag was wrapped around one of the fake bodies be sent back to English warship being rowed by Jenkins...ok. That would explain how Chauncey got it later.
    Then how did they then fly it above the ship at the end? Did Frenchie do another one?
    I am curious what they did with Nigel’s body ( did I miss something?)

    • @rindecision

      yes he made a second flag if you look its a different cat pose. and I'm not entirely sure what they did with the body, I'm assuming it was in the boat with Jenkins or they tossed it overboard. but a small part of me hopes they gave it to Buttons

    I swear that the flag you labeled as Black Pete’s was Lucius’s because we never see Pete sewing, but we do get one scene of Lucius working with that exact fabric for a second or so in the first episode. I also noticed that as soon as the Englishman starts making fun of it Lucius gets even more uncomfortable than he already was. The point is, I think Black Pete already had a thing for Lucius at this point and that he was defending Lucius’s flag for that reason.

    • @rindecision
      @rindecision  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like that theory, but you see that flag where Black Pete was sitting while they are sewing, you don't see any where Lucius was, but I'll take another look and see if I can get a better idea.

    The H4 (a watch accurate of 2.5mins per month and small enough to be hand held) wasn't used untill the 1750's. Before that clocked were wrong by up to 15 mins per day and were huge and very complex! Not sure stede's fob watch is accurate of the time but I will do more research...

    • @emilieellard1286
      @emilieellard1286 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rindecision ok so I watched a few docs and visited some websites and it looks like pocket watches did exist in 1717, however they were not pendulum mechanisms, making them a) very inacurate and b) highly unsuitable for ships due to their complex nature. However this is stede that we are talking about and let's be real, that man gives absolutely zero craps. Also pocket watches were extremely rare (like, people would use them as a status symbol) and that's in EUROPE. Stede was born in Barbados so I'm not sure about the clock situation over there? However, in his case, it can be inferred that stede is a supporter of the Stuart cause, (he later sailed on a ship called the royal James, possibly showing his support for the Jacobites) and the term pocket watch was first used by C II after he put a small clock into his waistcoat pocket. (they were previously hung around the neck) so he possibly also wanted to have that connection to the upper classes and royalty. That could be a far out strech but I did this instead of revising for exams so ...

    There was also a little mistake from episode one: the year is 1717 and they are talking and reading about "Pinocchio", but in reality it was written later in 1883.

    • @rioisnotokay-ipromise-6115
      @rioisnotokay-ipromise-6115 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I doubt that’s a mistake- all the episodes have little regard for historical accuracies! (Example: literally all of Mary’s clothes) Just like how they treat time and how they navigate place to place (Example: How Stede went on a rowboat and found the Revenge) That’s just the way it is!
