Excellent!! I wanted a shaded area within which my lines/values are within budget and this has made my chart look so much more professional. Thank you! 10/10
Hi Alan.. great tip! So clever to use a combo chart with a stacked area to lift the backfill where you want it and then use no fill for the base area.. great stuff! I also like the touch of adding the data labels to one data point on each series using just the series name instead of a legend. These are the kinds of tricks that elude me when I'm in a hurry to get something done. Glad to learn them here for my next project requirement with a short deadline. Thanks for sharing. Always something new, interesting and fun at Computergaga! Thumbs up!!
you probably dont give a damn but does anybody know a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost the login password. I love any help you can give me.
@Ryder Lochlan Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Thanks for sharing this video! Is it possible to do the same if the numbers are negative? I have a list of upper and lower bounds NPS numbers and all are negative. Thank you!
Hi. How funny (or is it?), that you should show this tip tonight. Earlier on the Coronavirus update briefing, it was announced that some of the charts had been altered to make it easier to see 'at a glance' the pertinent info'. I noticed that the tip you showed was one of those alterations. Do you know something, or somebody we don't??? haha. Thanks for sharing this - I like it. Regards Mark in the UK
The area chart option does not work for a data series having both + and - numbers in it. The negative region does not shows up. Hiw to fix this problem? Please reply
I tried doing this but with a logarithmic scale and it messes up when I shade cuz it looks like the lines that are shaded in between change scale. Any idea how to fix this?
Thank you Greg. I'm not completely sure what you mean. But I have a video on the FILTER function which may be what you need - th-cam.com/video/kdl3mNEyIRE/w-d-xo.html
Computergaga thank you so much for saying something back what I meant was a filter based on another filter that are all connected to a list or lists. So instead of a drop down I wanted to select multiple choices out of the drop down so the list will expand or decrease depending on the choices selected in the filters... The first filter will change the selection of the next filter which will ultimately affect the list or lists. Hopefully you understand what I mean, I really appreciate your patience 😁👏🏽
I think you are after multiple dependent lists. I have a video on that here - th-cam.com/video/5nb84p2wX-c/w-d-xo.html It is a few years old. It can be achieved with the FILTER function also. I think I show a dependent list example in the video.
Thanks bud, this was an epic tutorial :) Love it!!! I used it to shade in a standard deviation lane for some diabetes monitoring on my cat, gives me a very real world idea of her readings and if they are straying outside of acceptable variations or keeping safely inside

You're so welcome!

Thank you Wayne.
Mate, seriously, one of the most useful videos on YT. 10/10 Thanks for uploading.
Hi Alan. How do you give the shading a different color if the planned value is below the actual value
I imagine you would have to create extra rows of data for those below and those above.
Hey, any idea how to do this with lines on a scatterplot, i.e. lines that change value at different x coordinates?

@Salvador Henry Instablaster =)

@Ryder Lochlan it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my ass!
@Salvador Henry You are welcome :)
This was extremely helpful, clear, and concise. Thank you.
Thank you, Kazem.

Hi! Amazing tutorial. Is there anyway to do this in google sheets? Thanks!
Thank you. I'm sure there is, but I don't tend to use Google Sheets much.
Thank you so much for sharing this video, so easy to follow and so useful!
You're very welcome, Ayşe. Thank you for your comments.

Alan always shows up with some interesting details. Thank you.
Thank you 😊
Thank you so, so much! This video saved me a lot of time.
Great to hear. My pleasure, Rosa.
How can I apply this to a radar chart? Thank you!
I've never used the shading option before. Great stuff Alan.
Thanks Alan 👍
Thank you a lot. I want to create a chart showing the profit/loss between sales and costs. It that great to figure out your video.
Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful, sincerely appreciate the tutorial
You're welcome, Danny.
Hey Alan, is there a way where you can work out the area of the orange shaded area?
That's a good one. Now for fun these charts can be used to create the Impression of a bird or an aeroplane.
Thank you Solomon. Looking forward to seeing it 😆
@@Computergaga you're welcome
Hey! How do I do this when I have two axis' instead of one?
Brilliant! Exactly what I needed to know.
Thanks, Richard 👍
wow this is such a clever solution! Thanks so much, I never would have got there
You're welcome. Thanks, Chris.
Thanks Sir, First time new way of graphical lines.
You're welcome Ali.
Thank you, much appreciated, saved some time figuring out how to do it
You're welcome, Jan.

Just what i am looking. Thank you
You're welcome, Selfa 👍
Thanks sir.pls help me how to use combo chart.
My laptop no combo chart.
I have this video on creating a combo chart - th-cam.com/video/RWwpkwvXRN4/w-d-xo.html It is a few years old and uses Excel 2010.
How to color in green when above first line and red when underneath ?
Excellent tutorial
Thank you, Gabriel.
Excelent video!
Thank you, Ezequiel.
Is there a way how to mark positive deviation with one color and negative with another?
Yes, I'm sure we could build that into the logic. It is not something I have a video on though.
Can you do a video on how to do multiple dependent filters based on a list or multiple list like for a comparison. Please and thank you! 😊
Thank you Greg. I'm not completely sure what you mean. But I have a video on the FILTER function which may be what you need - th-cam.com/video/kdl3mNEyIRE/w-d-xo.html

I show an example in this XLOOKUP video also - th-cam.com/video/sTj3KnbGFhM/w-d-xo.html I hope this helps.
Computergaga how can I archive the FILTER function with data validation?
Brilliant :) Thank you so much :)
You're very welcome!
Great Stuff..Thank You Alan :)
My pleasure. Thank you Darryl.
Nice. Thanks!
hi bro, how can i calculate the area between 2 curves?
That area is calculated in the video to shade in the area.
Really a great video
Thank you very much 😊
It is useful, I've used it earlier
Great 👍 Thank you.
Sir pls provide us practice sheet for this..m
Thanks bud, this was an epic tutorial :) Love it!!!

You're welcome. Nice work, Dylan.
very nice
Thank you, Theo.
sağol yiğidim ;)
Re: the legend showing Base and Diff... you can select and delete those elements individually in the Legend.
👍
UGH, when I select No fill the orange color still goes down to zero!!! I wanna shoot my computer...
