This isn't a Fugees song. It was recorded by many artists in the 26 years from writing before the Fugees did it.

Yes and it was originally done by Roberta Flack in the '70's and it was in response to her listening to Don McLean playing a song; I had heard it was "American Pie" but could be wrong. Too many youngins who didn't grow up in the 70's/80's think it was written by the Fugees. Sorry, but their version sucked. This guy gets it. Love his rendition.

Master The NEC I agree with everything until the last part. Deans voice is fantastic and very similar to Stapleton... almost as good. But Chris has a huge catalog of original songs. His talent as a songwriter is currently unrivaled, but that’s my opinion. Cheers
Lori Lieberman wrote this song after going to a Don Mclean concert. Mclean was a disarming poet in his early days. A lot more to him than "American Pie." Take a listen to "Tapestry "and "Homeless Brother" Albums. The man could write and croon. And Mclean's song "Crossroads" on the Pie album is the most moving song about suffering depression I've ever heard. Poetic masterpiece in my opinion. I met Don after a concert in Tweed Heads NSW Australia. It was an anti climax. I was so star struck and he was friendly, but largely detached and disinterested. I wasn't offended. He'd been on the road for something like 50 years. He'd met a million people like me.

Great cover but this is not a Fugees song. This was written by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel. Lori Lieberman recorded it in 1972 but made famous by Roberta Flack.
Saw a documentary where Lori Lieberman claimed she wrote it. She's the one that saw Don McLean play. The other two made suggestions. Apparently still debate about percentage of contribution.
This is a wonderful cover. But it's certainly not a Fugees song. This was originally sung by Lori Lieberman in 1971. Then covered MANY times before the Fugees, by greats like Roberta Flack, The Carpenters, and The Jackson 5.
