back in the day when Heros of the storm was the big deal. Blizzard would put you in quitter's jail if you quit early. Until you finished x number of matches they would drop you in games with other players who also quite early. It was a good system.

23:15 Yes I would've killed blue, thereby giving me SA + Africa, and left Australia unguarded. I think leaving Australia unguarded would've sent a message for either red or purple to take it and leave you alone. But I think that you played in a way that was interesting, and made the content more valuable.
I think that would have been the only correct move to play that situation

It also would have been keeping with Pete's idea of only take an early Aus if you seize the chance to upgrade from it at first opportunity. I didn't see that line and perhaps Pete was blinded by the rare split +4, but in hindsight I bet he'd admit it would have been a better play. I imagine red would have taken the Aus position and Purple would have consolidated Eu, leaving a black bot in Asia to be the secret sauce to spice up the game.
Completely agree. Upgrade from Aus asap, take the +5 and better position. Could've indicated "attack my territory" to any of the have-nots early too. See who's down to be cool

Pete, that not killing blue move was THE move! Don't second guess it because of the incident that came after. There was no real reason for blue to have done that and then left, and it wasn't even a factor that could have been calculated for.
I agree. I would have made the same move in the same situation. You can't play to the expectation that your opponents are THAT terrible because then the whole game becomes coinflips.

I think Orange wasn't thumbing you down, I think he was expressing displeasure with what was happening on the board by the others.
red was having a war with purple and black was a bot so the only person who could have gone war with pete was orange, the same orange who at the time was 35 to petes 50 and the same orange who was on 1 card while pete could have been on 2 after killing blue so both troop wise and card wise pete was ahead.

You were dominant player by troops, you could affort some turns without any bonuses. Maybe noone would brake your australia. Noone would suicide into you. You give players bonuses to fight for. You can establish a new position in a better moment because of troop advantage

I absolutely understand the frustration, but I don't think orange did anything wrong. I think the thumbs down from orange was attempting to say "that thing that just happened was bad" as a way of commisserating, rather than being directed at you--i've seen other players use it that way.

I’ve seen the AUS/SA position a few times. Without fail, someone always steals one of the two positions. It’s kinda fun, but there are multiple fatal issues: (1) the positions are so spaced out that it’s difficult to retaliate, and (2) the bonuses are small enough that the “stealing” player will feel confident they can defend it.
No Pete if you had killed blue like your instincts told you to and then gave sa to orange you would be in a better place
23:10 - Love ya Pete, let's start there. That said, I think you would have been ok attacking BLUE because you created a strong alliance with Orange. Potentially you get jumped by RED, PURPLE, and/or BLACK - but with ORANGE on your side - I take that RISK. Anyway, keep up the great work buddy.
Blue player was the scumiest of scum with that bot out. Yesterday I played a 100+ minute ranked fixed game where a player botted bc of the stalemate only to come back after almost an HOUR of being a bot to try to steal Europe when the board finally shuffled. I instantly killed him & accepted 3rd. There was no way I was letting a player that walked away for over an hour get top 3 over the three of us that grinded out a huge stalemate with a massive bot to eventually a semi equal 3 player endgame. Sucked too bc I had spent a long time as the weakest player keeping the kill on myself just difficult enough that it wouldn't be possible while also slowly positioning & manipulating the 2 biggest players into addressing one another, only for that scumbag to try to jump back in and capitalize. After a certain amount of time you just shouldn't be able to rejoin I think, disconnection issues or not.

Black was in a nice position before he botted out, and because there wasnt really and indicator to why, i think it was a battery/mom/internet issue of some sorts.
I wish I could go over the game I just played Pete! Took 3hrs and 30min to complete. Longest game I've ever played vs 6 ffa with alliances on. I teamed up with a master and had to play the shuffle around the board game the whole time until I saw my opportunity finally open up when players started to lose patience. It was beautiful man! I heard the evil chuckle when it happened lol. Thank you for the great insight you've been giving me through your videos. I go by Birt The Loyal and hope to play a game with you one day. I'm still a classic map player but I have tons of hours on it. Not a great win record I'm 280 out of 860 or something like that but getting better and better 😁

I think, at times, depending on mood, you misclassify a player rank, which ripples on to miscommunication. I see it especially in your fog games; you with your superior spatial awareness, and your intermediate opponents ignorantly/accidentally signalling hostility.
I read the thumbs down as Orange in an alliance with noone else, and simply sharing frustration with his in game friend.

I actually like the SA Auz 4 point if you can get it. It allows you to take cards out of Siam and makes it very hard for someone kill you. On the down side when first establishing it you can get attacked by noobs who don’t want you to have two continents even if your two add up to 4 bonus points and they are holding a 5 point Eu or N.A.

I would guess that Orange thumbs down in solidarity with you about your bonus being taken.
Orange went to 16 to give you a card.
Then gave you a heart when you took them to 14.
Then took out red to help the table and do something with their troops.

It's hard to know because of there only being two options.

You actually have more options than we do in Splatoon, where our only communication options in a third person shooter are "This way!" and "Booyah!" when we're alive and "This way!" is replaced with "Ouch" when we die and are on the respawn timer.
One of our communication options is, quite literally, useless.

The board responds viscerally in a negative fashion to greed just like many regular middle class people respond to greed. Here is orange with the stack lead, a 2.5X bonus lead over africa/australia; and the guy is trying to pull some low cunning move to graspy weasel out just one extra army the next turn?
Risk is a game about math and odds, but for the top players its about playing to the real human emotions and I'm going to use the word pettiness and vengeance as examples here. If risk were a game like texas hold 'em, where there are real money stakes involved, every game would be like a texas hold 'em tournament. Someone raises and then its fold fold fold on the table. You would have 6 turtle players all 4 v 1 card swapping for hours. Games would go all day like a Cricket Test.
The irrational play where the noob does something greedy and then gets punished by the entire board is one of the most delicious aspects of risk... until you realize that the noob being punished is probably some 11 year old boy playing during his school lunch time who has to wrap the game up and go back to class.
In the KPO 1 r1, I held Aus and SA, but it was more of a gentleman's game. All GMs, so it went different.
Pete I think you should’ve depressurized both boarders and put that 16 stack in Peru. Blue player might’ve felt like you were going to hit him next turn.
Peteman! Hindsight is always 20/20, but maybe in an alternate universe you would have decided to kill blue, get the cards, soft guard on either SA, Africa or Australia and let someone take one of your bonuses. i.e kill blue with no intention of holding 3 bonuses. Hmm....

I think you were right in your assessment of the blue kill. Highly likely the board turns on you if you take half the board and 2 players are off bonus 🤷

I actually got a 24 hour ban today i don't cheat or play with friends i had another player with a 150 at my 8 and they wouldn't finish the game so i just let the turn timer run out because they would just fortify thats the only thing i did that might fall under harassment. Just sucks this happen to anyone else?

I think the South American Australia position isn’t worth the extra 2 troops cause there the 2 weakest furthest apart bonuses. But you still look really greedy for taking both early unless there is a bot or 2

only thing I would've done differently is add fewer troops to Brazil at 11:00 instead of adding 9 I'd probably add 3/4, given what you knew at that stage I completely agree killing blue would just make you a target in that scenario, you're literally the only person with even a single bonus, except you have 2 and would make it 3 by killing blue, even if you left them unguarded I think everyone would just team on you.
Hard to say if adding fewer troops would change anything from blue (if anything it's possibly more likely someone would take it..), it would leave you a bigger stack to retaliate from Australia though, but maybe not putting a 17 on blue's border makes him not feel like he might just die there. at least from my experience most of my losses seem to happen after I make someone feel like I'm going to attack them even though that's not at all what I was planning lol, to me it seems obvious that if I was going to attack blue here he'd be dead already... but blue might not see that.
in the end, if blue was going to slam you no matter what then I don't see anything you could've done differently except just killing him and putting the entire stack infront of australia or something which is just a bad play.
Also as for botting out, I don't think changing the bot settings is going to affect much how often people leave games, Blue left this game in honestly a decent position, he had 2 bonusses and they were semi well defended (I don't think the people that break 2 bonusses are aware they're about to get teamed on by those 2 players lmao but who knows)
I think for the most part people leave because they have to leave, playing this game while waiting somewhere IRL, like a lot of mobile players do in a lot of games. I think it makes the most sence to have bot settings you find most tolerable playing against because it's going to happen no matter what unfortunately. Other games counter this by rank or play restrictions after leaving too many games and even that doesn't always help.

Can't get a sandbox out of them, best bet is make your own game; haven't thought about it much, but options for simple strategy mechanics can't not exist. Long ago and far away, I worked in RPG game design and note there were a plethora of game mechanics developed for new games than and right up til now. Just a thought, I guess, but your options as players collectively appear to be put up with it or make your own thing.
I would be interested in being part of the conversation for that next thing.
Then may I suggest you raise the subject with the other top players that you know and have an audience? If there's any interest from them, the first and most important question to answer is, What do we want it to do? A short list of objectives will provide the beginnings of a development road map.@@TheKillPeteStrategy

What if anytime you bot out, then however well the bot does, it does that much negatively to your rank? So, if you would jump ahead 1500 points because the bot wins, instead you would lose 1500 points? I also like the idea that if you bot out too much, you only get paired up with others who bot out.
Dont think you were entirely thinking clearly. No reason to be upset at Orange for him wanting 15, I've seen you be greedy in games before. You knew Orange could be chill when you shared borders, they seemed to want to go 1-2 with you even when you were in Australia. Its not Oranges fault you got ruined by players botting out...
Regardless of how I may feel about their play they didn't really give me an option to gain advantage. So I happily take second at that point.

The bullying alliance is very real. Been seeing it a lot these days. Super annoying. You either do a move that can sink your game or have the ''bully'' sue into you because you don't want to sink your game.
Maybe black went to eat or had connection problems or had better things to do than play risk like spending quality time with family and etc❤

It is so annoying getting an alliance request just to see the instant "Attack that guy" while they don't do anything. They try to push others around so if it ends up being a bad decision then it won't affect them.

This? I find this fun. Also, since you asked, I agree with your reasons for not hitting Blue. Wish he hadn't crapped out on you. Even after breaking you, I think you'd have had less of an issue if he'd been there to hit back and, as you're fond of saying, make him die.

The third level is you failed to consider the fact that some players are just dumb and will make dumb plays. It's like if you're dumb enough you end up playing on a higher level than a GM
