- My DIY super-short shorty levers have been Cerakoted and they came out great! I’ve wanted to use Cerakote for many years, and when I tackled my homemade shorty levers, I knew that was the finish they had to have. In the first video, I explained the process I used to make the levers (link below). In this video I’ll show you the Cerakote finish, compare my levers to OEM and Lucky Speed Shop 6blocc, show you the levers on the bike, and tell you what I like about them. FYI: In case you’re not familiar with it, Cerakote is a ceramic-based finish that can be applied to metals, plastics, polymers and even wood. It enhances several physical performance properties including wear resistance, corrosion resistance, chemical resistance, impact strength, and hardness. (And you can get any color imaginable!) These DIY Cerakote shorty levers are installed on my Harley-Davidson Softail Street Bob FXBB with Stage III.

Great choice of coating! If it can hold up to rifle barrel heat, it will hold up on the levers, guaranteed! Awesome color, I also would prefer more shine on them. I have thought about getting my pipe heat covers and slip ons done with Cerakote in a bronze.
That would look good! I also want to Cerakote my derby cover and maybe ghost something onto it as well.

I had a set of SBC headers Cerakoted for my old Z28. So far so good!
Hey 3krazy - that’s awesome! I never even thought of using it as a header coating. Any issues with discoloration?
@@RonsWorkshop Only have a couple hundred miles on them, so hard to tell yet. They were an old set of Alumacoat headers that were rough finish anyway. Made them look a lot better! 😎

Nice, I am seriously considering shorty levers. As a n amateur gunsmith, I love the cerakote! I want to keep the current tension on my clutch, but don’t like my gloved ring finger being pinched. I can’t see myself going shorty on the break. 🦅 of a 🪶 2020 Fat Boy 114, Subscribed

I ride way too much in the city and my left hand gets tired even with the stock clutch lever. I’d love to try out a shorty before starting cutting. :)
Hey Tom - yeah I totally understand. I wanted to be sure to cover that in the “negatives”. Oh, and I am planning on a giveaway when I post the Speed Kings shorty lever review video. It’s a little ways down the road but it’s in the hopper!
I had that same issue with standard 2 finger levers. Try Flo motorsports. They are not "shorty" levers but the thinner profile allows 2 finger use super easy. They make the pull feel incredibly soft compared to stock or typical 2 finger levers & are fully adjustable. I'll never get a different lever for Harleys

It may be different in the US but, I would imagine that an insurance assessor looking at an accident damaged bike would notice this and determine it is non-standard and therefore would give the rider less control in an emergency.
Any excuse in the U.K. to reduce any form of compensation.
