Great video, as always ! Personnaly, you're not making me feel like going out with a guy from USA or New-Zealand : showing too much affection = being "effeminate" ?? What ? Drinking a cocktail is being effeminate ? Whaaat ? You're supposed to drink what you want, whatever you're a guy or a girl... Isn't it ? We think USA and English-Saxon countries are more feminist and less machist than France but I realise it's not the case and that a lot of guys seem to have a "middle-age" mentality...
Well, as I always say, you're lucky enough to be with interesting guys, because many of them are not cultivated or well-educated at all !
Loving your mother... That's compulsory !
Men are supposed to like their girlfriends as they are, if they don't, they're just machist...
French men always well dressed... Depends who ! In my little towns, many of them are dressed like shit with their sweatsuit... Horrible !
Yeah, we're a time flexible culture and that's great !

So funny about dressing up vs pajamas in the US. I’ve been living for 5 years in Boston MA, and I see people walking their dogs, doing their groceries in pajamas or just sweat pants, I’ve been told even students show up in pajamas in class sometimes. This always amuses me to see. This is unthinkable in France. I can’t start a day, even on vacations or on Sundays without dressing up a little. This is indeed a big difference between these 2 countries.

    Hi girls.
I would love to add that they're quite romantic whole year around.
Getting flowers for no reason at all only because he just passed flower shop and seen flowers I love. Or get me some great cake in this super cute boxes. Getting us to try some good and really nice restaurant in the middle of the week and on weekend. Other times it will be me choosing restaurants.
And as you ve mentionned lots of cultural stuff going to theaters and concerts, museums, monuments, weekend getaway to see some villages and castles.
Telling my how beautiful Im and how proud he is that I dress up nicely in some cute dress and kitten heels or in tux for women with high heels or even nice blazer with cute flats and jeans.
Also there is real conversation and exchange. Couples often here listen to each others on what is happening in their jobs or friends and debate together.
My husband has no problem clean up whole appartement when Ive too much work or feel unwell or just cooks me a dinner. Often we clean up together and cook together as well while drinking wine.
He doesnt feel emasculated and I dont see him as emasculated even if Im from very macho country. We are just equals- partners who live and do things together.
Thank you so much for this video xxx 😊

      Khadija Fayyaz Thank you. 😊
I love and appreciate a lot french people. Latin countries are my personal crush. Ive lived in 12 different countries.
Recently after almost 22 years out of my native country Ive moved back for a while and Im horrified by how men treat women: Im macho big strong man much much more intelligent then you and I know everything better you're just less intelligent female. So dont you worry your pretty little head just stay pretty amd shut up. No need to get tired by using your brain I can do it for you and I do it better.
So women get critised, judged on everything even the way they speak and right words they didnt use in men opinion and worst they get to be put down constantly.
Im like what a hell this is suppose to be modern european country albeit very small one.
So thankful for my french husband and cling to him for all its worth while listening to all these men and their derogatory comments to their women.
My husband laughs I didnt know you loved me soo much. 😀
And I say: Thank you for being french. 😂 Im thankful everyday that I was way too ugly for men from my country as girls looking like topmodels run a streets and men often dont have a hair very early and get a beer belly.
My husband said: All these men got such beautiful women and they dont appreciate them take them for granted and treat them badly and they are so ugly 😂

This is very French. What you describe, the little attentions, the flowers etc.. these are proofs of love. This is also why Valentine's day is not so much a big thing in France, because it's year round..

But I would prefer if people wore dress shirt and tie on a daily basis , or professional dresses and pearls . With coiffed hair and hygenic , groomed , fit bodies . When they speak
I appreciate thoughtful , insightful exchange . They walk with poise . They move with wistful intention ...

It is not about the nationality of the counter part. The truely important thing that determines the "quality" of the man/woman is the good family education, if they aren't grown up in a family full of love, care, respect and harmony, they are less likely to become a lifelong partner.

Hey there :3 I'm a french guy discovering your channel :)
Really enjoyed this external point of view about frenchmen, we almost never ear this so I really enjoyed what you girls said in this video.
A few things that I'd like to add:
French people are used to natural look... To me it sounded like something universal as when you fall in love with a girl, you fall in love with her way to behave, her way to smile and all this stuff but not her make up x) I mean, if you marry her, you'll get married with the girl not her make up product ^^'
Look how a guy behaves with his mother will tell you how he'll treat you. I never heard that before but it totally makes sense to me, that's basic and totally true.
One last thing ... the french accent ^^ As a french guy I never liked my accent and tried to hide it as much as possible and I never understood why it was sounding attractive abroad ^^' For me the french accent is just a lot of mispronunciations never corrected and blended together. Could someone explain me what's attractive with it ?
I like your content :3 Continue your videos :D

Hi Kate, I stumbled upon your video via Not Even French, and found it quite enlightening so thanks for that and well done!
This makes me realise how lucky I am to be with a French guy. I used to sort of fantasise about Anglo guys - the blond hair / blue eyes (not seen often in my native Marseille, south-east France), often taller and a bit (or a lot in AU / NZ) more muscular, the warm approach etc. But after 5 years in the UK and 3 in Australia, even though many guys are definitely eye candy to me, I feel like they're what I call "prawns": enjoy the delicious body, but discard the head because there's not much in there. My French husband may neither smile all the time nor go to the gym 5 times a week, but he prefers me without makeup, loves a good cocktail, has no problem with PDA (it actually makes me kinda sad there's a "technical-sounding" word and even an acronym for this in English!), high education (which cost nothing, vive la France!), has a genuinely warm relationship with his mom and we can debate about politics and go and go see some art exhibitions together without him huffing and puffing. I guess we French don't know our luck till we get to hear from an external point of view ;-)

Lol the cocktail part surprised me. Sure French men are probably less insecure about their masculinity but that’s not the question here.
We don’t even have this concept of men/women’s drinks. Men can drink cocktails, and also, women can drink beer and strong liquor.
You just drink whatever you like.

Nice video! As a French man, I definitely see myself in these 10 points. But I have to say you aren't very lucky if you both date French men who are not into Valentine's Day. I mean, sure most French people think it's some random day that you have to celebrate because not taking your girlfriend out would obviously make her mad.
Still, for many people I know, not doing anything on that day is simply out of the question. If you don't go to the restaurant for whatever reason, you make sure to have a nice dinner at home; and I know that's how it goes for all my friends, coworkers, etc. I'm not the kind of guy who would wait for Valentine's Day to show my love to the person I'm dating, but skipping a date on February 14th? No way!

Well, I understand this is a PG13 channel, but you forgot, in my opinion, the most persuasive argument for dating French men and girls. I've been dating quite a bit in the US and Canada for 7 years and 99% of the time making love felt like rehearsing a scene from some porn movie. No emotional connection, just some sort of performance, an act, almost a con, it was so freaking sad. Making love is not about how you perform, you don't get grades, it's about something entirely different, and perhaps men and women should stop pretending to be some kind of porn star.

I'm really late, but since no one answered your question about Erasmus...
Erasmus is a program which allows European students to study abroad for 6 to 12 months. They give you a small amount of money, help with the accomodations, etc. Thanks to the ECTS Credits system, if you pass your exams for the semester, the results are valid in other Europeans Universities. Around 300 000 students benefited from the programme in 2016.
I think nowadays, new graduates can also apply to Erasmus, and find internships or jobs abroad.
The program has been named after the philosopher, but it is actually an acronym for EuRopean Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students.

Sadly, as a Frenchman, I'm undatable as I am far too grumpy and negative for ladies whether French or foreign. Interesting fact about your mother telling you how a man will treat you according to how he treats her mother. Sadly my mum pased away when I was nine and I have quite a problem about her, regarding her action of having a child as reckless and negligent (she never told me who my father was, hence why I hate family secrets and untold things), I feel quite disabled about getting a girlfriend, marrying ans having a child, so I don't really bother to try. And I would be too much dependent on the other, so if things go wrong, I'd end up devastated.

OMG why is it that as an American (in mid-twenties) recently I’ve noticed that many people several years younger than me don’t know what “whipped” means, but a New Zealander knows this slang

I am a French man, just for accuracy : it is OK to be late in France. Wa are simply used to communicate time 30mn before actual target to make sure you "my ladies" will be on time ! ;) Also mind that if this trick works for others you need to accept à similar treatment on return! Btw : Beer is not that manly drink, it is just discounted alcohol not standing on comparison to good wine.

When I was in Paris, literally I had to cross my heart every time I made the other side of the street alive, the cars fly by ignoring even the police officers at the red light, unlike in US where people freeze at the site of a cop.

Its funny to repeat and repeat that police is racist. Then all people who had issues with the police and said it was racism were all criminal person.

Do you really have beer in America? I was there and couldn't find any. There was this watery yellow stuff called Budweiser and Coors but I really couldn't find any beer.
