Looks like it would be pretty high in repairability. I'd say this would last as long as Amazon's Alexa service itself if not more. Without the servers I'd say this device will be fairly useless.

Ethan Chow yes it can, I have one and it works but isn’t great sound, it sound alright but as you can see in the video the speaker is small.

I didn't know the Amazon Echo Dot had a photosensor to adjust the light ring brightness according to the light in your room, that's cool, I don't even know if Amazon publicise that as a feature. That speaker looked really tiny, I'd be curious to see how it sounds when removed from its plastic bracket.
How does the mute work? Is it a hardware switch? If not, what's the best way to install one?
It would be cool to see Sonos speakers on gadet guts! Or perhaps something from Dyson other than their vacuums? Cool video's!
A good video showed me how to remove backing pad. Then I mounted it on the wall with double-sided tape, couldn't do this before as the non-slip pad didnt stick to the tape. all sound now thank you. I love TH-cam what the hell did we do with out it LOL
Try one of them portable car starter power banks that are small enough to put into your pocket! They got usb out so you can also charge your phone.
I would like to see the inside of the new Ring alarm base unit. It’s supposed to have like 3 or 4 different radios in it!
Nice to see the inside. =) I wonder, if it was possible to wire normal speakers to the dot instead of the internal. Or would the Dot's amplifier be too weak?
Could you do a repair on the echo dot for any weather damage whether it be the internal parts frozen water damaged or burnt internally

Open Question: At time (2:21 to 2:22) while the speaker is being removed. I think I see an RFID embedded into the bottom of the dot. My question: what kind and why?

I had no clue the Echo has a GPS. Makes sense in todays time, but damn. Everything has to have a GPS.
Thanks for the video, I was looking for a way to hack my dot so that that I could add a few bright white high intensity LEDs. I use mine in the bedroom and its very useful to say 'Alexa' and have it light up so I don't need to turn on the main bedroom lights or bedside light (in fact I wouldn't need a bedside light). Would it have been so hard for the Echo devices to include a few LED lights which were voice controlled? P.S. Background music is really annoying - no need for it.

The weird thing is, since getting the Echo Dot two days ago, every time I watch some online video (about a half-dozen) about Alexa, in which "she" responds to someone's question, the EchoDot in my kitchen will hear it and will respond exactly like the one in the video, but staggered a bit in time, invariably. So, I have an actual "echo" of Alexa responding. This is an unfamilar paradigm for me andwill takes some getting used to. So far, I have found Alexa to be pretty dull and pointless. She knows only the most rudimentary of things and not even that many of those. At the moment, she appears as little more than a cheap parlor trick. However, I know that she will soon know more than one is comfortable knowing.

I'm watching this video with my own Dot and it's going crazy because she keeps saying "Alexa".
Press the microphone button to disable Alexa from listening and it will stay quiet. This is also the mute button.
