The extremes of dynamics, the minimalism, and the individual voices are so refined. The traditional density and noise clusters of earlier Carter are nowhere to be found. Much more straightforward interplay and less antagonism indicative perhaps of a man in his 90's and becoming elegiac. God blessed you and God bless you Mr. Carter. Your music has been with me a long time and through many stages of my life. It has always been supportive and spiritually enhancing.

How we miss Mr Carter now! This is a wonderful performance of a cherishable piece.

Some critics consider that this last string quarttet is "less interesting" than the four fisrt ones. The absolute radical features of these quartets can operhaps make this sentence "obviously true", but does it matter indrrd from an aesthetic point of view? Carter had reached the top of a mountain from which he can observe the whole secenery and make artixtic choices which perhaps are not aslolutely radical, but are quite convincing and an ACTUAL achievement.

Very surprised that this gave me chills. I was introduced to music like this very recently and my taste in music has gone through a lot of change in the past year or two. Something about it was so mesmerizing.

I love the piece and I also love the "staging" that the Pacifica Quartet offers to the audience. A true dialogue/conversation between the four characters that Maestro Carter created. Thank you very much! 🙏❤

So clean and clear. The use of vibrato is very restrained, which allows much more clarity.

This performance ranks in the top 3 I've heard of Carter's 5th, but the best that I've _seen_. I'm not sure I've ever seen musicians embody so perfectly (what I take to be) a composer's spirit, for lack of a better term. Wonderful.

fantastic , the second and the fifth quatuor are the best creations of carter , strange music , expressionnist style , and the musicians are amazing

yes, indeed! i also really enjoyed Quartet No.3 as well. No.3 is really panicky and trivial. Damning to say the least, and really eerie sounding. I say they're all genius level musicianship. Yes? or what do you people think? input and ideas are welcome!

Each time I had an inkling to end the video the next note or notes interested me. I found the music interestingly provocative rather than unnerving.

Upon hearing this for the first time, I must say that Mr. Carter is now my all-time favorite composer. Even Bach doesn't measure up to this.

This is Great! I also really enjoyed 'Elliot Carter's'; Quartet No.3 as well. No.3 is really panicky and trivial. Damning to say the least, and casts a real eerie and dark and fast musical emotion / shadow! I'd say they're all on a genius level of musicianship. Whatcha guys think, Yes? Or No? What'd you people think regarding the talent? Some real input and your brilliant ideas are welcome! Let's explore!

Why do these Japanese like Western music that sounds like it was made by machines? Are they too robotic to understand what good music is?
