    I dig this scooter. Something so small being useful at highway speeds seems pretty legit to me, as I have a 300 mile weekly trip on hwy 59 just for work. This thing would save me stacks of cash.

    I picked up a 2013 PCX this year with only 1600 miles on it. Excellent shape. Got a good deal. I love the darn thing. More fun at 40 than I ever had on my 900 cc bike at 80.

    I'm amazed at your high avg mpg despite the lower mass roller weights you installed. I have the 2021 PCX and with everything stock I was getting at best 87mpg (top speed around 68mph). I recently switched to 17g roller weights and it dropped me to 80mpg (top speed around 64mph), although it increased my acceleration from standstill. I weigh approximately 90kg.

      Thanks for the feedback! The new PCX160 should be an even better scoot than my older PCX150! My only concern is with the valve maintenance intervals... whether they are the same or more frequent, and if it's more difficult or expensive to do it. The PCX150's valve maintenance isn't hard, but it's VERY time consuming to pull all of the Tupperware off of the bike to get in there. 4-valve heads can be more tedious to adjust, so we'll see how that works out. Otherwise, the PCX160 is significantly improved over the older models... engine power & efficiency, top speed, rear suspension, chassis rigitidy, digital gauges, etc. Cheers, and good luck with your PCX search! 😉👍 --QM

    Love small bike commuting. I owned and rode a CB125S built in 1985. Bought it in 1995 sold it in early 2014 within a few months of 19 years. 100 mpg normally. Up to 130 if i was careful.
    My current ride is the one that replaced it. A 2007 250 morphous. 60 mpg. 80 mph top, but i seldom do that. Usually 55-60 max. Love scooters!

      I completely agree! I have a 1978 Honda CB125S sitting in my garage right now that's waiting to be restored. I always wanted a CB125 in my early teens, but I chose to buy the 1984 Honda XL125S when I was 14 years old because I could ride it everywhere... pavement or dirt. I put over 35K miles on that little XL125 riding all around OK, AR, and MO in just the first 2 years! I upgraded to bigger bikes when I turned 16, but I always regretted selling the little XL125S... it was such a great little bike. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

      Howdy, David! The screen that I have on my 2015 PCX150 is the National Cycle VStream Sport Touring (medium height): www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/national-cycle-vstream-sport-touring-windscreen-honda-pcx150-2014-2018?sku_id=1161414 . I've bought the 2022 Pcx & I think the rollers are (18.5 grams . )))I'm still breaking in so still haven't tried to go full speed. Just up to 60-65 ,my MPG is only 88 MPG driving to & from town .In town after refueling & reset trip setting it showed 104 MPG then went down to 88mpg after getting on Hwy back to house 10 miles away

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Howdy, James, and congrats on your new 2022 PCX! The fuel economy will improve after the engine has broken-in a little bit. I noticed that my PCX150's economy improved after 600-800 miles. The Dr.Pulley sliders significantly improved the economy by nearly 15% for my mixed city/highway commuting duties.; it jumped from ~96 MPG to 115+ over the same commutes and road conditions.
      Variator sliders are generally lighter than factory rollers. OEM rollers that weigh 17-19g are typically replaced with sliders in the 12-14g range. The sliders' different shape makes them behave differently and alters how early the front variator pulley is forced closed (pinched together to make the belt ride higher in the groove) through centrifugal force. The lighter weight of the sliders gives you quicker acceleration from a stop, but the variator ramps are still squeezed tighter together during high-RPM operation (better top speed and lower engine RPM vs speed due to the "taller" front pulley ratio). Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    you using standard tire size? I feel a bit uncomfortable on my '15 pcx 150 when the wind starts blowing at highway speeds, so i normally keep my riding to the city.

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am still running the factory sizes, but I have upgraded the tires to Michelin City Grip tires instead of the original IRC Hoop's. The Michelin's profile looks and feels a bit wider than the IRC's, and I noticed that the high-speed stability increased when I switched over. The original IRC's only had ~2K miles on them, but I was never impressed with their handling or wet grip.
      The PCX150 is a lightweight scoot with lots of surface area, so it does get bullied by the wind at higher speeds. I'm accustomed to it now after several thousand highway miles so it doesn't bother me too much. I also noticed that a light grip on the bars tends to help because I'm not putting any extra presssure/bias on the bars to influence the bike's natural line. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    100 MPG (US) average overall on my 2020 PCX..... bought new, done 50,000 km (31,000 miles). Does better town and around, up to 80 - 85 km/hr (about 50 mph). Above 90 km/h (55 mph) it is quite a bit more thirsty.

I can tell you for sure though about 92-93mpg is the best I get if you keep speeds under 50mph, but running it harder your down in the 80's (Not that its bad LOL). My 2015 for sure did better on gas.

    I know you said you installed the doctor pulley variator on your pcx but you didn't mention what size slider weight you used? Is that all you changed to get your 72 to 74 mph top end? Thanks for your time!

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Howdy, Joshua! The only mechanical or performance upgrades that I've installed are the Dr.Pulley variator kit and the National Cycle windscreen. I discussed the Dr.Pulley slider weights in this video: th-cam.com/video/gz3CZIis54Y/w-d-xo.html .
      The sliders that came with the Dr.Pulley variator kit were 12g, but I have since replaced them with 14g sliders. The top speed doesn't seem to be affected by the heavier weights, but the 12g sliders definitely gave faster acceleration. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    64 miles..wow! When I sit for more than 40 miles on my PCX I have terrible pain on my butt. Is your seat stock or with modifications?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      64 miles is NOTHING! You should check out some of my scooter touring videos where I crush 400+ miles/day with the PCX! 🤣 ( One example here: th-cam.com/video/HApSkVCnn1c/w-d-xo.html ).
      The seat is completely stock on this PCX. I'll add an AirHawk Cruiser seat pad for longer tours, but the original seat works fine for me as long as the duration isn't more than 3-4 hours at a stretch. Otherwise, I need that AirHawk or an extended leg stretch break every few hours. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    Hi what windshield are you using givi or the national cycle? I'm planing to buy the national cycle for my 2015 pcx but not sure which one the tall or extra tall . Which one would you recommend? My height is 5'8 . I'll be using the bike for highway commute. Thanks in advance

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Congrats on your PCX150! You and I are similar heights, so my comparisons should work for you. The screen that I have on my 2015 PCX150 is the National Cycle VStream Sport Touring (medium height): www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/national-cycle-vstream-sport-touring-windscreen-honda-pcx150-2014-2018?sku_id=1161414 . I like the height of this screen, but I think that the Tall Touring screen would work better to reduce helmet turbulence: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/national-cycle-vstream-tall-touring-windscreen-honda-pcx150-2014-2018?sku_id=1161415. I might add a MRA X-Creen Tour spoiler to the top of the NC sport screen to give some tunability... but that costs another $140! Ouch!
      I have the tall Givi D1130ST ( www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/givi-d1130st-d1136st-windscreen-honda-pcx150-2014-2018?sku_id=995157 ) on my 2016 PCX150, but I don't like it as much because the screen is too large and flimsy... it bounces and wobbles around too much at freeway speeds. The National Cycle screens are a bit more rigid and vertical so they don't flex as much. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

      Congrats on your PCX125... ride that thing! The PCX's are fantastic commute tools if you can pick your routes to stay off of the really fast highways. I wish that Honda would import the newer Forza 300/350 to the USA because it would be a perfect commuter, IMHO. It's able to run 85+ MPH all day without any trouble, and the new rider aids (e.g., ABS, HSTC, adjustable windscreen, etc) give it significant advantages over the older/smaller scooters. It's slightly larger than the PCX, but it's not quite a maxi-scoot... and it gets very good fuel economy (in the 85 MPG range). 😉👍 --QM

If Honda ever decides to bring any of those to the States, then I'll drop a deposit for one as soon as the pre-orders are announced! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

      @@QuasiMotard exactly. Forza 750 is the perfect commuting scooter/bike. Great look and better space management than Integra or ADV. I love maxi scooters because of their performance, practicality, and comfort. I was driving Piaggio Beverly 500 in past and I love it.
      Also was watching CTX 700 but Rebell 1100 is the perfect Bike with DCT. But I'm an afraid little bit of Rebell's comfort. I like to stretch my legs so I will love it more if Honda has the Shadow DCT version.
