Of the five horses showcased in this video, two of them stand out as truly great among the greatest. The first one is RIBOT, who ran almost 70 years ago, beat the best European horses of his time, and won the Grand Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe two years in a row. Back then, that was the most prestigious international race in Europe. The second one is the amazing FRANKEL, arguably the best racehorse of the 21st century up to this point, who basically destroyed the field each time he ran, beating the best British 3 years old horses and older of his era. He raced 14 times, almost all of them Grade 1 classics, winning each one with ease and great class.
Kincsem name was not mentioned she was unbeaten in 54 races the greatest of all time

That's why we couldn't include her in our video. We really appreciate your interest and understanding!
Yes, she was unbeaten and is considered a wonder horse. But e.g. in the Grand Prix of Baden, which she won 3 times, she races vs. horses that were just farm horses a month earlier. The competition was awful. In fact, the opposition was so bad that she could even run 15 times a year.

Thank you for mentioning Black Cavior who won 25 races but from memory just as B C was retiring along can another mare Winx who ran distance races and won 26 races in a row from 27 starts. Having top B C record she retired in good health, as did B C and has now contributed offspring to the future of racing in Australia.
Winx raced 42 times and won 36 including the last 33 straight and 25 G1’s

I didn't remember that Personal Ensign retired undefeated but I do remember her racing. Frankel, the most recent of the five is an amazing horse and I look forward to seeing his offspring race.

@@noelgaynor783 I have been in and out of racing for many years and have forgotten a lot, my most vivid memories are being at Belmont when Ruffian broke down during the match race, I was a kid at the races with my older brother and I had $6, I had my brother buy three $2 tickets for Ruffian to win and I still have the tickets, my next memorable moment was being at Belmont in 2015 to watch American Pharoa win the triple crown, I have a $50 win ticket that I kept as a souvenir. Had I thought of it I should have bought a $2 ticket to keep, I thought about it for Justify, a $2 ticket to keep and cashed the bigger one.

Maybe this wont be popular but Barbaro.. was legit.. i think he woulda won the triple crown and this BEFORE the rule changes to take out the speed horses like the newest triple crown winners
I think they saw how good Kittens Joy was and thought Barbaro could switch to dirt and get the Triple Crown against a weak crop. You might want to work out the far-turn fractions for each Derby horse. That turn was dead slow. Why I don't know. It hadn't been slow in previous dirt races that day. I do know the frontrunners benefited. You'd think that Brother Derek would be second choice in the Derby. He did go on to be second betting choice in the Preakness, even though that track isn't kind to late runners, and he again got a bad trip. The two main speed horses, Barbaro and Sweetnorthernsaint, were bet down to favorites, though Sweetnorthernsaint didn't have all that great a record going in. Was the track improperly groomed between races? Likely so. On purpose? It would explain the money put on Sweetnorthernsaint. Soon after, the official chart was found to be inaccurate. It grossly exaggerated the slowness of the far turn, and had to be redone -- which would make people later on tend to disbelieve anyone who pointed out the slow turn. On the other hand, the bad turn could have been from soil moisture, the way that Del Mar gets sluggish later in the season when it's not hot anymore. Make of it what you will.
@@floycewhite6991 the thing is Barbaro was sorta known for just running midpack and having good cruising speed.. when he won the derby he had ALOT in the tank the jockey didnt even have to use the crop and he still ran it in 2:01.36 which for a horse that doesnt set the pace was pretty good.. i guess we will never know
@@privateer9181 Barbaro was a proper TC contender, yes I grant that. Had the far turn been fast, Barbaro still might have beaten Brother Derek that day (a useful horse that went on to a darned good tie for fourth in Invasor's excellent BC Classic). It seems to me that Barbaro injured his rear leg during the Derby, since he showed up in wraps the first time in the Preakness. All in all, Barbaro might have wound up being the horse that paid the most for the improper track grooming.
Frankel? Kelso would have chewed him up! #1 all-time! 5, yes 5 time horse of the year!

How on earth did you miss Zarkava??? 7 from 7 but 5 were group 1's and 1 was a group 3. Almost unheard of. Frankel always number 1 but Zarkava pound for pound is easily in top 5

Nearco was the “Greatest”, and from him came all the great horses including Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Northern Dancer, Justify, etc
I forgot to mention that Nearco also sired Bold Ruler, who was Secretariat’s daddy.
KARAYEL, 1973 Turkish Triple Crown winner, has won all of his 18 races from 1100 to 3000 meters, much better than a local New Mexico mare

There was a horse aired by Frankel, in South Africa...one just one race ...maybe the dam was not good breeding
Frankel, the undefeated champion racehorse himself, has become an outstanding sire. Here are some of his best offspring, known for their achievements:
Classic winners:
Adayar: Victorious in the prestigious Epsom Derby (2021) and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2021).
Hurricane Lane: Claimed the Irish Derby and St Leger (2021).
Logician: Conquered the St Leger (2019).
Anapurna: Dominated the Epsom Oaks (2019).
Other notable Classic winners: Hungry Heart (Australian Oaks), Soul Stirring (Japanese Oaks), Alpinista (Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe).
High Timeform ratings:
Cracksman (136 rating): A powerful contender with impressive wins.
Logician (126p rating): Known for his remarkable improvement and later racing success.
Call The Wind (124 rating): Another highly rated horse with strong performances.
These are just a few examples. Frankel has sired numerous other talented horses achieving success worldwide.
Black Caviar. 25 races.
Secretariat holds those records but they were questionable at best as we all know. They even change the Preakness time years later. Tiny erasers back then was definitely questionable
It took 39 years and a mountain of evidence to get the correct time in the ‘73 Preakness Stakes, including going through thousands of still photographs. All segments of the race were spot on except for the first segment. Now the race starts when the gates open but the timer doesn’t start until the first horse breaks a beam of light that is shot across the track at a very specific point, and it was determined that the first time segment was out exactly 2 seconds, putting Secretariat’s time at 1:53 flat instead of 1:55 flat, which was the original race time.

Both are exceptional horses with impressive achievements. We didn't include them this time around because their careers have been relatively short compared to the others we featured. But we absolutely appreciate both and the incredible impact they've made in such a short time. Your insight is highly valued, and it's fans like you who deepen the conversation around the sport. You could make an argument for most. It's about opinions, my Opinion is Frankel was a freak. Also, you can't compare greats of the dirt to greats of the turf, for it is a niche sport. Flightline, yep, nice horse, but what 7 races beating what exactly and hailed as a legend, i think not. Opinions differ, but remember all these great champions deserve the respect for doing what they did. Without such horses, we racing fans would have something missing in on our lives so i for one pay homage to all the greats.

A great horse should have beaten other great horses. Frankel beat nothing he beat donkeys by lengths and looked good doing it. To judge a horse's greatness you have to look at what he beat
You know, horse racing can be a pretty subjective topic, and everyone's entitled to their opinion. But I gotta say, Frankel sure does have a massive fanbase! People just seem to love him. 🐎💨

I'll give you one example in 2010 the same year when Frankel began his career Workforce won the Epsom Derby impressively by 7 lengths in record time. The form was good with multiple graded winners coming out of the race. His next race was the king George vi and queen Elizabeth for which he was odds on to win. Out of nowhere from the clouds his stablemate Harbinger swept pass the whole field in home straight ending up winning by 11 lengths and if my memory is correct a course record. Here is my point,, Every single horse behind Harbinger that day came out subsequently and won grade 1 races. I know because I backed all of them at good prices. That is not subject that is undeniable form on record and is the best performance by a flat racehorse this century. Workforce who finished last won the Arc de Triumph in his next race. Frankel was a hype horse because there was nothing else around he beat excelebration half dozen times, he wouldn't make into my top 20 of great race horses.

We chose not to include Justify in our video because, while he was indeed an impressive Triple Crown winner, his career was notably short with only six races, and there were disqualifications due to positive drug tests.
