    Lets get one thing clear. Maximus Decimus Meridius is one of the most badass names any main character has possessed in any movie ever made.

    @29:35 it's because Hans Zimmer composed the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack as well.

    Russell Crowe actually did all his own stunts and was an expert horseman. The cuts on his nose and face are real. It happened when the horse he was riding was spooked and backed into some tree branches.

    What made the Roman’s so formidable in one word adaptability. They would take all the best ideas of the conquered peoples. Not saying it was right or they were good but you have to respect the accomplishment

      I mean thats reason they are so talked about, although most of it wasnt right, the military accomplishments cant be overlooked in history its wild what they did. Similar with Napoleon or even Kan, horrible but impressive lol

    17:25 They told Maximus' captors to ride through the night and execute him at dawn. So they'd ridden 12ish hours away from his family, and he had to ride the same 12 back again just to be at the same starting point. Plus very limited food, water and sleep, on horses that were already 24 hours more tired.

    I know you are probably too busy to watch stuff for your own viewing on top of recording your reactions but if you liked this film here are some gritty Roman TV shows that you may really enjoy. HBO's "Rome" is a must. One just recently aired that got a bit of hate at first but actually is a very exciting and entertaining show is called "Those about to Die". It's about the corrupt and dirty business of chariot racing and gladiator games. Another is "Domina" from a female lead perspective and about the corrupt power plays of the great families of Rome. Netflix have a German show called "Barbarian" set in Gaul and loosely based on an actual man who was a Romanised Gaul and guided the Romans into the Teutoburg forest to be slaughtered by the Gauls. Being a German tv show the characters who play the Gauls speak modern German but the Roman characters are all speaking Latin. So its all subtitled. Subtitles is not for everyone but watching the dubbed version sounds ugly and takes away from the coolness of all the Latin 😀 But definitely the first two i mentioned.

    Now that you’ve made it to Gladiator…prepare slowly to be disappointed in every other movie….humbly knowing, there has to be the other 99 movies on the top 100 lists, perhaps some of them are epic and meaningful, right?

    I think that themes of the new movie would be completely different from this one, is not about "saving" Rome, maybe you not realise it, but there is a trend in the movie of the last six months, fall of Empires, and this new movie has the same themes, even that is completely fictional to Rome History, the Senate and the Consuls were reinstated, but like the Roman Republic are full of corruption, from what I have seen in the trailers is. Why save a fallen Empire if they not care for their own people and even their own heroes?

    If you haven't seen it, Troy starring Brad Pitt is another great movie somewhat similar to this one. Covers the story of Achilles and the Trojan War.
    Has one of my favorite quotes of all time in it. Will post it below, so if you don't want ANY sort of spoiler, do not read below.

    My brother is a history buff and he was DISGUSTED by their portrayal of Napoleon. One of the most brilliant strategic minds in history and they turned him into an irrational, emotional simp and almost exclusively focused on their made-up dramatic version of his relationships over his actual accomplishments. Freakin shame to piss all over a legacy just to try to make a buck.

      Trust me i get it the film industry is going overboard with sequels and remakes thats for sure, but i love good movies and at the end of the day of the director and creators love the work and it comes out good i wont complain, just look at Top Gun: Maverick! They wont all be winners but ill give them a chance and criticize when its due lets hope they do the original justice

    • @littlenickelbushfarm9804
      @littlenickelbushfarm9804 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@RebelMedia66 Exactly! I roll my eyes at every remake that Hollywood churns out because it shows how creatively bankrupt they are.
      BUT sometimes they can be really good, and if the trailers look bitchin then I'll give it a shot. Twisters, Top Gun Maverick, Ghostbusters Afterlife and Inside Out 2 were all bangers. And Prey wasn't bad.
