As far as I know removing the front lens element requires special Nikon equipment and training to put back on as it requires calibration. If not done then lens will work but soft at 2.8 wide open.
Thanks for the video. How do you know if the cause of the autofocus problem is caused by motor issue and needs to be replaced or just dirt and needs only cleaning?
Thanks. I have no idea the reason for the fault. Just know the auto-focus does not work. I try to clean it th-cam.com/video/8Eo2FtqRoes/w-d-xo.html and still not working, so I think I have to replace it.
This is probably the most in depth and informative repair video for a Nikon lens that I have ever seen! I would like to see you do a disassembly/repair video on a Nikon AF-I telephoto lens. These lenses used coreless stepper motors for autofocus. Anyway, these motors have been long out of stock for years. However, there are various companies who manufacture these small stepper motors (including Canon). I know a stepper motor can be used to fix an AF-I lens and it would be cool to see it done. BTW, do you have an address where I could send my broken lenses to have repaired? Thank you so much!
Thank you. Unfortunately, I don’t have a AF-I lens. I think that’s rarely find the parts for a grandpa lens. You must a hardcore user of Nikon. I hope you can fix your lens. Good luck!
@@LeighSr Luckily nothing has broke on my AF-I lenses. I bought some pretty nice shape lenses and only baby them. I don't use them hard. However, it is a known fact that the motors fail. Nikon outsources components like any other tech company. Foxcomm anyone?! The motor inside these lenses are just that. A simple stepper motor so I know it can be fixed because such things are still made to this day. Canon actually makes stepper motors for their copy machine division. After watching your video, it just gets my mind reeling. I don't like a camera company telling me I cannot repair their product when I know the parts are out there to repurpose. You are the kind of guy who has the skills to make something like that a reality! Thanks again!
My autofocus gave out after 8 years. Thank you so much for this video!
Just bought a defective 24-70 2.8 and I'm definitely going to try this, thank you for the great video ! 👍💪

Hello, there is fungus on the inner inner lens of Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 N lens. Do you have a video on disassembling the inner lens, thank you
Thanks, its works! But I need 2,5 hours :)
