In the literacy that I read, almost all of the data used to calculate convergence is more than 10 years old. Does measuring economic convergence really need data that spans that long? or is it actually possible if only using data for 2 years? For example, using only 2019 and 2020 data because of covid 19?
Hi Ahmad - I recommend using longer-term data. Convergence is more associated with longer-term economic growth whereas the ups and downs of the last couple years are part of the shorter-term business cycle.
