I found my Shih Tzu about 2 months ago....on the street....no collar,....no chip....I think he is a Imperial Shih Tzu with a Brindle coat....its not a stark white...but a cream color with a hint of tan color around the eyes....ears... sides....a little on the tail...a couple of spots on the back.....his body is small...kind of square-ish...when he is trotting around....-too cute)....he weighs about 12lbs....he is still much like a puppy...the vet thinks he is about 10 months...he is absolutely adorable!!
My baby boy is an American. rescued off the streets living in a cardboard box and near death... my vet has said he's top of the line and someone was stupid but he's living his best life now

I have an imperial shihtsu. I got mine at a pet store and at the time she was 3 pounds. Now she is 2 years old and between 9 and 10 pounds. She’s very lean and not overweight at all! Her name is Sassy and she lives up to her name! 🐾 ❤
I have the American and I got it by seeing it in the same backyard for over a year.The owner did not wanted it anymore and I got it.He is 6 years old.His name is Puka.He was not very well trained due to the owner never ever gave him the proper respect,because they though it was a toy for their kids(bastard)! He even offered me 200 euros to take it.I rejected the money offer but I got the dog.I own two cats as well.I have him six months,he barks he bites but he is very adorable playful and we love him!I didn’t know much about dogs but with puka we will learn together.He is an American shih tzu and he is great because he is special.But he is stubborn indeed.But he deeply knows we love him.He will learn,I will learn,together.

My dog is gray with spots you see when she is groomed short. Her coat stands out from her body. She doesn't have straight fur so she needs to be kept short. She is a very faithful and sweet little dog and she is so loved.
I had 1 its been 13 years ago (I think). Her name was Fluffy and I got her 4 a christmas present in the year 2009 (I think). We put her down last year in 2023. She was a teacup. She was white with gray mixed in.

My Bill Pickles is a blue brindle. My Lulu is an whit and brown sadle which the brown sadles are brindle. The female is an Imperial. And the male is a Standard.
Well, I guess mine is a Standard, Brindle or American Shih Tzu. Mine looks more like the Brindle not too much a difference with the American and Brindle. I do know that my Shih Tzu doesn't have large bulging eyes like they are about to pop out of his head. I wish I had his birth 📃 paper before me right now. I will check to see if it shows the kind I have later today. Can anyone guess? I know he's not a European, because his hair doesn't grow dragging the floor.

I believe my "Skooter" is an American Shih Tzu because of how he is shaped but he also has the sort of Brendel effect. I live in AZ & just got him his summer short hair cut with teddy bear face, but can tell his body has black spots on his skin. Just had neve seen this my last dog was a MinPin.

There is no such thing as an imperial shih tzu. These dogs have been given the name Imperial from none reputable breeders that have had runts.
You are RIGHT..I us to raise them (BI..before Imperials). They were bread down fro runts (as are tea cups). The AKC only recognizes One Shih Tzu!!.
I agree with you because my doggie doesn't fit the standard or imperial types. I adopted the runt of the litter. She averages 9.2 lbs and has no chronic health problems. She is still the most friendly and unique dog I've ever had, and her stubborn quirkiness is actually funny to me. Even though she is still smaller than most shih tzus, I wouldn't trade her for anything. And, she actually dominated and kicked butt of a standard, aggressive male shih tzu recently and I am so proud of her! She was not having any of the bigger guy's bullying. LOL

I have a 5 month old that only weighs 4.2 lbs so I’m thinking she’ll be maybe 6lbs full grown! Healthy as all get out, I wasn’t looking for a tiny one just how she ended up! Love her to death but she is really small!
@@kimjohnson1004 - You have the miniature shih tzu, some say imperial. I have the American Shih Tzu, some say Standard. I've had him since he was 5 months old. He will be 6 years old the 27th of February, 2023. He weighs 20 pounds (20 lbs).
I personally don't believe in a shih tzu weighing less then 7 lbs. Not good at all.
I have 5 shih tzus with variety of colors with the American and European.They are truly the best breed.
