Geoff: The whiskies can't be too popular
Also Geoff: Includes Glendronach and Bunnahabhain on the list
Lol fair play. In my defence those are brands that offer a lot of different options. Is Bunna Cruach Mhona topping the charts these days? 😉🥃
Popular brands. But not popular expressions. Big difference
The Klingon one 😂!
Bonus point for the well hidden Start Trek mention, the new Kingsbarn Edition: The (Gul) Dukat 😁🥃🥃 Haha
Cool list my friend!
Actually jokes aside, my favorite Ardnamurchan is the Regular AD release. As for the Kingbarn, Its definitely on my list to buy in the future.
Thanks for the great video Geoff!
Cheers 🥃🥃
Hah dude you're always the first to catch the ST stuff. Epic. Gul Dukat! Hah! Totally didn't even think of that! 😂😂😂
Great list. I love when you’re so passionate about something that a list of seven favourites quickly turns into seventeen.
The two Nikka's in my opinion should be purchased or owned as a pair, so I agree, totally allowable as one place slot. They are different & complement each other beautifully, equally as nice & either would suit your mood at the time. Yes, the Ardna's had to get a mention too !
Please add to the list LEDAIG SINCLAIR SERIES RIOJA CASK SINGLE MALT .
Absolutely beautiful stuff. Maybe not too under the radar, but definitely could have worked here. Cheers! 🥃
I have a suggestion for the mystery pours. To make the reveal a little more interesting, you might consider giving us one very creative tasting note at the beginning of the video, so that we can guess and see if we were right, or close, at the end.
Fun idea! Might do that! 🥃
5 is the new 7. Those Nikka bottles almost tripled in price in my hood over the past few years. Your reading the label of Bunnahabhain Toiteach a dha made me actually LOL. 1. I do not LOL often and 2. I really, really despise needing to use "LOL" to describe myself. You won this round G...
0 Jeff/1 Geoff
Scoreboard's up. 😂
@@Gwhisky 😂challenge accepted!
ayyy notification crew where u at
Nice list, I would mention the Ledaig Rioja Cask as well!
Already super popular, but I agree it's incredible stuff! 🥃
I feel like Sanaig gets looked over due to Loch Gorm being sherried as well, but Sanaig is great, I'd happily have a dram when at a bar
Loads of Sanaig fans in my comments. On my end I feel like it's more popular than the LG release! 🥃
Great video idea. Always good to know what NAS whiskies are worth checking out and they don’t always appear on Whisk(e)yTube
Hah. NAS is a reality, whether we like it or not. Still plenty of gems to be found. Thanks for watching! 🥃
The Glendronach CS Batch 11 is amazing, I think better than the Batch 12 - which is indeed wonderful…
I've tried the 10 and the 12. I preferred the 10, but the 12 is great. Guess I'll have to look for the 11! Cheers! 🥃
Terrific choices!!
Thank you! 🙏🥃
@@Gwhisky YW Geoff!! Happy Monday!! 🙂
@@christinecamley Likewise! Have a wonderful week! 🥃
Good call with the Ardna AD 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great list! I've always like these kinds of List Videos you release. Always excited to watch them. Keep them coming
Hah great! Much appreciated. 🙏
Great video as always!
Thanks! 🥃
Solid list man! Really looking forward to trying the Liora. I never connected with the Glendronach CS for me, like the Glenfarclas 15, they were just sweet and loud but lacking in depth but man o man that Lore, I still have a big love affair with it 😃 Cheers Geoff, I might give that Surge a try next 🥃
great review as always. Cheers! From Talisker, I really really like the Dark Storm. The charred barrels give the extra smoky flavor to the beautifully peated liquid{Do I like it more than great 10? May be :P) A flavour bomb!
A solid list, Geoff.
I'd add Tomatin Cask Strength. Very well made NAS whisky at reasonable price!
Cheers!
Good one. Cheers! 🥃
Really nice list. I have two whisk(e)ies to add to your list. The first one is Glenglassaugh Evolution Single Malt, also overseen by Billy Walker. The second is a blend of single malt and grain whiskey from Ireland. It is Silkie The Legendary One. A very, very nice dram.
Interesting list of 5 under the radar whiskies..
...and 2 stealth whiskies.
Thanks for sharing Geoff.
Slàinte mhath
Cheers my friend! 🥃
Nice list Geoff, The Surge as mystery pour.....
Maybe I need to try than one also, some time
It's good! 🥃
Good picks again Mr G going to try a get your number 5 pick as do love sheery whisky in winter months
Enjoy Liam. Proper sherry bombs! 🥃
good selection , will see what i can get ;;
Wish you had spoken about bruichladdich whisky. Also glenfarclas cask strength. Other wise. A great show
Bruichladdich Classic Laddie was my whisky of the year last year. I've been singing its praises for a while now. Not a huge fan of the 105, personally. Cheers. 🥃
Peated Bunna FTW! (another great list)
Peated Bunna is overlooked. Cheers! 🥃
Nice list! Since Bunna is in there, I'd probably add the Eirigh Na Greine.
Love Lore & 10 Sherry, I sure miss the Triple Wood!
Lore (not on the list) is great. I’ll have to try the laphroig sherried 10. Nikka I’ll be trying both on Dec 25 or 26 (under $100 cdn each). I’ve had one of the Bunnas (peated), haven’t seen the other. The one I’ve tried, great. Gotta find an AD. The rest I’ve not yet tried (and not seen here in Toronto) 9:41 but you never know ….
Oh nice, I'm not the only one who thinks that Kingsbarns is great! I got a sample when I was still living in the UK---had zero expectations but really enjoyed it. I'll definitely be picking up a bottle if I ever see it (which unfortunately is unlikely because... Canada). Another "King" I really liked was King's Inch out of Glasgow.
Glad you liked the Kingsbarns. I'll have to look for the King's Inch. Don't think I've seen it around here, though. Cheers! 🥃
Some nice whisky on show. I do like Bladnoch, I had a bottle of 10 and the replacement 11, very nice. I will have to try the others. How about, Dingle? Lovely Irish whiskey. Single pot still; very nice!
I need to try the new Dingles. Haven't had the chance yet. 🥃
Nice amount of cheers for Jeff 😊 I'm happy the subject is as popular as the content. I hope you don't mind if I join in 😇 Be safe add water & taste before the chaos hits
Hah sage advice, James. Cheers! 🥃
Great NAS worth mentioning?
My first impression was LORE and kaboom!
"Honourable mention"
Hey what’s going on bud. Like you, I’m a bit of a maverick, a rebel, a wildcard! So, that means my question has nothing to do with this review.
You have 3 options(actually it’s me)😝.
Option #1
Ledaig 18 & Bladnoch 10
Option # 2
Ledaig 18 , Kilkerran 12, & ledaig Rioja
Option # 3
Ledaig 18 x2
All options are roughly same price. Help me choose!
Hey man. Big decisions! I'm going to suggest option 2. Great variety and all three of those options are fantastic! 🥃
@@Gwhisky Ha, too late , sort of. I went with that but eliminated the Kilkerran as I have two stashed. Im excited to try the Rioja! Thanks bud!
Great list Geoff….I’d include Old Pulteney Huddart.
That's one I need to pick up soon. 🥃
great list. I'd add Old Pulteney Huddart. Like the Bunna, nice to see a touch of peat with the classic distillery character.
That's one I have to try soon. 🥃
Interesting choices - I would not have guessed some of them but they are all solid recommendations. I don’t blame you for not trying to pronounce Toiteach a Dha - it’s a really hard one for an English speaker! The distillery’s own information recommends something like “toe-chack a-ghaa” but English speakers would read that as too guttural and hard sounding. Something like “toy-shush a jhar” is closer (but still wrong). There are some sounds in Gaelic that just don’t exist in English.
An effort was made. Kind of...
I quite enjoy the Surge as well albeit a bit pricey.
Cheers 🥃
Always nice wjth a more affordable list. Kingsbarn D to D got a spot, great. Glen Gariosh Founders Reserve 1797 could have been on the list.
😂😂 love it! Towcheck a dah, and crew a vona… but I prefer your take 😅 great picks. With you on those Japanese malts; on quality and not over paying. 👍
Always some know-it-all in the comments with the correct pronunciation, eh? Lol cheers Roy. Enjoy your one-on-one with Phil the other day. 🥃
Geoff its great list , good choice bro ! Like.Gaumarjos !
Thank you my friend. 🥃🥃🥃
@@Gwhisky gaikhare ))))
Is it possible if you could an extensive review of Speyside Single malts and probably in another show it could be on blended Scotch whisky based on Speyside region. Looking forward anxiously.
Hadn’t heard that the Glendronach CS line was rumored to be done, is that something you’ve heard from someone in the industry or is it based on them being overdue for a release now? Either way great video as always, cheers! 🥃
Glendronach CS batch#8 was great
Man I can relate about it being overpriced where you live , here in the Philippines the prices increase at least by 70% , I wish they would lower the prices a bit .Monkey Shoulder here goes for 4000 plus pesos which is around 80 bucks , insane..
Great picks, especially Kingsbarn. It's a fruit orchard in a glass. I would add the GS Victoriana?
Victoriana is good stuff, but it's also really popular.was going for less celebrated bottles here. Cheers! 🥃
Bladnoch is not that weird compared to some Chinese mice and snake wine I had before. Recently I bought a bottle of Glen Scotia Crosshill (cask strength) at the airport. Very pleasant and good value at less than 80 USD for 1 litre bottle
I mean you're setting the bar pretty high for weird there. Lol. I don't think I've even heard of the Glen Scotia. I'll be on the lookout for it. Cheers! 🥃
Bunna “Klingon release” LMAO 😂
Another great list. Guessing you felt that the Benromach contrast series was not ‘’under the radar’’ enough?
Hah thanks, buddy. The Benromach Contrasts are great, and they would have been a nice addition to the list, but they do actually state the distillation and bottling dates. Cheers! 🥃
@@Gwhisky that’s hilarious. I have several of these contrast series (peat smoke, cara gold, organic) and apparently was always too anxious to dive in to the tastings rather than first take the time to read the labels carefully. Thanks for putting me straight (uhhh, let me rephrase that….)
Good prices in Japan on the Nikka Yoichi and Miyagikyo NAS -- under 5,000 yen retail. Though I prefer the Yoichi for its complexity and subtle smoky flavors, the Miyagikyo has some nice honey notes and a full body.
Hah I actually happen to veer more towards the Miyagikyo on most days, but I think they both have their charms. Cheers! 🥃
If you like the dream to dram you should try the other kingsbarns whiskys
I absolutely should! 🥃
Please try the Arran Remnant Renegade it is awesome also!
! cheers!
Got Two bottles master of malt £76 in England Mr G cheers got one for my brother
Suggestions: Millstone Rye 92 Whisky and the Millstone Rye 100 Whisky.
Very surprisingly good.
Haven't seen them around but I hear good things about Millstone. 🥃
If you spot them, give them a try. Good quality. @@Gwhisky
Good morning. I also have the Fettercairn 2-3. I find it well balanced and tasty with red fruits and slightly toasted. It made me want to discover the 16 year old
The 16 is good, although I'm a bit behind as I've yet to try the 3rd and 4th release. 🥃
Yes, I saw that they made a version every year. I don't know if it's the fact of cooling the still that gives such a good result but I like their whiskey. Well done 🍸
7? I counted 28 😂. Speaking of the Talisker 57° North, I just opened this from my stock last weekend. It’s a gem.
Hah yeah the 57 North was good stuff. Good call holding on to a bottle! 🥃
Geoff, the Miyagikyo is going for $86 USD in the SF Bay Area.
Bit much, but it's really good... 🥃
Nice List! Those two peated Bunna seem very good! What’s your opinion for the Bunna Eirigh Na Greine?? That comes to 1 lt bottle, 59€ in Greece where I live! Does it worth a purchase?
I don't think I've had that one. I'll add it to the list! 🥃
Surprised you didn't mention a release from Compass Box 😮
Didn't think of it! 🥃
I like Bunnahabhain anything!
I would add Isle of Raasay as one of the up and coming new distilleries producing great NAS right now.
Good one! 🥃
Kingsbarn isn't available in the states as far as I can tell. I'm not going to bother trying to be on point with the theme of this video but I could recommend:
Compass Box Spice Tree
Amrut Fusion (I think? only had one taste so...)
Westland Am. Single Malt Sherry Wood and also Peated
Compass Box Peat Monster
Scarabus Islay Single Malt
Douglas Laing's Regional Malt series (at least some of them)
Torabhaig Allt Gleann 2nd Rel.
Deanston Virgin Oak
They've all had their moment in the sun but lots have people have moved on from them I think.
Some good ones in there! Need to try that Westland Sherry. Enjoying their standard single malt. 🥃
@@Gwhisky I need to try and refrain from hyperbole since I've only had one session so far but, the Sherry Wood? If I hand you a glass blind, you'd swear up and down it's a single malt from Scotland and a strong contender at that. Definitely my favorite of the bunch. (3 bottle tasting set of 200ml bottles from 2018).
If that session holds true another 3 times, there are 2 dusties I can still buy at $75 a piece that'll have my name on it.
Also, in hindsight, I'd replace the Peat Monster for Spice Tree I think.
I am new to the channel, didn't realize you are in Taiwan. :) cheers.
Yoichi is $99USD in my neck of the woods
Welcome! Yoichi is beautiful stuff. $100 might be pushing it, though. About $75 here, and I like it for that. 🥃
@@GwhiskyThat's why I won't buy it anymore. Japanese is usually overpriced in the US in general. lol I can get PC10 for $70. It's probably my favorite so far.
Ardnamurchan is neither overlooked nor under the radar, but your point there is noted. I'd do the same thing with Balcones Lineage - Balcones releases amazing single-cask and finished malt whiskys, but their standard, under $40 here in Texas Lineage delivers more tropical fruit flavor than any other malt I've tried. Cheers!
I've got the Lineage. Good stuff! 🥃
Very good NAS whisky heave Kilchoman , bat expensive , i dont talk machir bey its very simple )
The Laphroaig Lore is cad230 in Ontario. The 10 sherry cad110!
Lol classic LCBO. Hard pass on the Lore. 👎
For reference, Lore is cheaper here.
Local prices (converted), both quite scarce/rare: Lore: USD113-125; 10 Sherry: USD125-130.
I know Geoff is joking, but the pronunciation of Bunnahabhain Toiteach A Dhà is both on the back label of the cannister and their website: "Toch-ach ah-ghaa". The only reason English-speakers find it difficult is when we assume (arse out of us both) it's going to be semi-phonetic, and once one encounters the first Gaelic name and looks up and finds that Gaelic is not a phonetic language, from then on it should be as simple as bothering to look it up/web search.
@@jbar6284 That's assuming we care enough to look it up. It's much more important to a lot of my viewers than it is to me. I'll give the Gaelic a whirl but I'm not particularly hung up on perfect pronunciation.🥃
GlenFarclass 185 ! is a for me a great whisky
Absolutely. Shame it didn't get much love, it's a beautiful whisky! 🥃
Thanks, Goeff. GD CS discontinued = 😭
I hope it’s just a rumor 🤞🏼
Just an idea to continue the series on the other side of the spectrum: completely overrated /hyped bottlings.
Cool idea. Prefer to celebrate good whisky than to get too negative, but I may end up doing something along those lines someday. 🥃
Amrut Fusion
Kaiyō Cask Strength Mizunara.
Need to try that one... 🥃
High Coast Berg. Not sure how available though.
I've tried it. Very good stuff! 🥃
I don’t understand why you intentionally excluded Arran. Their NAS offerings are my favorites.
Arran isn't really under the radar, although some of their NAS stuff doesn't get the fanfare. It could have worked here. 🥃
So five that becomes 7 that becomes 8 with two from Japan, and then 9 with two from Bunny. Don't you produce a shortlist? Does Taiwan have trades' description legislation? Also my radar is clearly a later model with higher specs than yours, because all these were on final approach.
You're gonna love my top 5 whiskies of the year. All 27 of them. 🥃
ancnoc scotch
laphroaig lore became popular cause of the jokers in whiskey tribe, which is the worst whisky channel
Hah shots fired! I like it, but I do prefer the Sherry 10. 🥃
