    I always felt sorry for Kreacher. After Harry, Ron and Hermione did not return to Grimmauld Place after escaping from the Ministry of Magic in DH., it is mentioned that Yaxley saw the entrance of Grimmauld Place and it was probably crawling with Death Eaters. Kreacher was finally happy. The trio left and Kreacher was happily cooking for their return. I can only imagine how heartbreaking it must have been for Kreacher to hear voices, thinking it was the trio, and being confronted with Death Eaters. You know they were not gentle with him and probably tortured him for information. He must have shown Harry real loyalty because he could have told the Death Eaters about the locket, but I suspect he didn't because, if he had, Voldemort would have known they were hunting horcruxes earlier than he did especially once Yaxley verified what they had taken from Umbridge. Anyway, I just think of that brief moment in time when Kreacher was happy and then it all going terribly wrong for him.

      I too worried about Kreacher. But he led the house elves at the battle of Hogwarts, if memory serves me right.
      I don’t think it occurred to Harry that he could order him to him at their hidden sight, though he may not have for Kreacher’s safety-as they were eventually captured by death eaters.
      Kreacher probably had a hard time like all the protagonists, but I firmly believe he had a happy ending.
      Edit: P 734 in the hard back. Chapter 36

      I mean...I'm unsure if he has shown loyalty to Harry or Regulus in this case. In the end, Kreacher knew that Regulus sacrificed his life for finding and destroying the locket. Kreacher couldn't destroy it but would definitely do anything to help with this task. He had to feel like a complete failure to not be able to fulfill his master's last wish. So even if Death Eaters tortured him, he would say nothing just for Regulus's memory. I'm not saying he didn't do it for Harry also, but Regulus motivated him more.

    • @sunshinemerlot9790
      @sunshinemerlot9790 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@nelab.4614 Ultimately, I think he showed loyalty to both but I think he will always show more to R.A.B. simply because he knew Regulus since Regulus was a baby. Kreacher was 666 when he died and he served the Blacks his entire life so I think it is safe to say he knew Regulus for at least 20 years. He only really knew Harry for a few months. They were good months but I think Kreacher would have always been more loyal. So I agree with you that Regulus' memory would have been a big part of why he didn't tell the Death Eaters anything.

      I too never understood why they didn't called kreacher later, after the events in the ministry.
      Yes Yaxley probably saw the entrance of Grimmauld Place. But he could never have told anyone about it because he was no secret keeper.
      So the Grimmauld Place never could have been entered with a croud of deatheaters. Yaxley of course maybe could have tortured Kreacher. But he is just one...

    About Ariana's abuse : A lot of readers doubt that it was a few guys beating her into a pulp . Muggles persecuting wizards and witch-hunting was a very well known occurrence . It happened to quite a number of wizards ( including Harry) .. but the way Ariana became mentally unstable for the rest of her life , how her body from outside was quite normal, how Percival hunted down those boys with murderous intent, how none of the family could ever bear to mention it ... Probably those boys sexually assaulted Ariana in some way or other .

    Bill being so entirely grotesquely disfigured in the books, lends so much to how much she absolutely loves Bill, it's not because of his looks, it not only adds some dread to the story, but adds depth to Fleurs character. And I love it. The entire book she's phlegm, and none of the Weasley women like her, but her loyalty and love towards Bill makes them realise she's a good person. I liked this in the books.

    Skeeter was knowingly spreading lies about fourteen-year-olds' private lives and outed Hagrid as a half-giant, which caused him to have a sort of breakdown. Hermione received lots of abusive letters and even one which sprayed a dangerous substance all over her hands - both hands needed bandages, all because of Skeeter. The lies also temporarily made Mrs. Weasley, a kind person Hermione trusted, become antagonistic towards her, which can't've been easy for the girl. Yeah, trapping someone and blackmailing them into not doing mean things is mean, but honestly, one year of not being able to ruin lives seems like an appropriate punishment.

      Yes, I think the video underestestimates how powerfull the media of News Paper is espcially if said media is murdering the reputation of a 14 year old girl. Beside Rita Skeeter sets the fundament for a darker side of the media. In the 5th book the News Paper undermines Harry's and Dumbledor's certibility too. It keeps lying about Voldemord's return and puts live in danger by doing so. So what Hermione dose may not be right but it is not us dark as it it portraited here. The reason for Hermione's triumph is that she finally found a way to get at her, not because she enjoys to be mean to her. Honestly if I had been her I would not have released her in London as promissed I would have reported Rita enyway. -Besides Rita was not locked up in the jar for a year! She cought her after the turnament and she set her free in London.

    Is it bad to feel slightly satisfied with Hermione's dark character traits?
    I find them rather amusing, tbf. Becase Hermione grew them out of her own nature and not influenced by any childhood trauma or cruel classmate.
    Her cunning traits started to develop when she made Madam Promfrey fix her bucked teeth. 👏 Well done Miss Granger!!

    • @imperialinquisition6006
      @imperialinquisition6006 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      They aren’t even really dark character traits honestly. She’s, generally speaking an exceedingly kind character. What she did to Rita was honestly not that bad, and that was Hermione at her worst. She got kept in a jar for a a week and blackmailed into not writing for a year, in return for attempting to ruin several peoples lives by lying about them. For example in this case specifically the article she wrote about Hermione resulted in her receiving huge amounts of hate mail, one letter spraying a toxic substance over her hands physically injuring her, with some of the letters focusing on her being muggle-born, as well as Mrs Weasley temporarily being against her, an adult that she trusted, until firmly told by Harry that none of it was true, all of which must have been quite a stressful experience especially for a 14 year old girl. So honestly Rita skeeter deserved worse and it seems to me somewhat of an exaggeration to call events like these evidence of some dark side of the character, when they were while somewhat questionable mostly on the still overly kind side of the spectrum.

    Perhaps you might include Harry's own descent into the Dark Arts - his uses of the Cruciatus and Imperius Curses, firing off Sectumsempra in battle, etc. It was as if, after Sirius' death, Harry's moral compass began to stray and "the ends justify the means" began to take hold...

    • @DragonTigerBoss
      @DragonTigerBoss ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Harry does get a little edgier toward the end, but if I remember correctly, he only ever used Sectumsempra against Draco when he didn't know what it did and Snape after Snape 1v1'd my boy Dumbledore. He used Expelliarmus as his standard combat spell otherwise, to the point that it tipped off Voldy who the real Harry was during the Polyjuice grand prix.
      He uh, did cruciate the hell out of a Carrow. Even then, it was after Bellatrix telling him that he had to really mean it. The uses of the Imperius curse were just... necessary. As you said, wartime Harry let the ends justify the means on occasion, but he generally had a good idea of where the line was and when to cross it.

    Hermione's capture of Rita...the act alone IS distasteful, but as you mentioned, she had every intention of releasing her.
    This temporary confinement seems less a dark impulse on Hermione's part and more retribution for the slander and career-destroying damage that Rita did with her invasive reporting, stories that she spun deliberately to rouse readers and inflame tensions. She wasn't concerned with truth, scandal is the only thing that mattered to her.

She may have told him about the Tri-wizard tournament, but the real piece of information she gave was about Barty Crouch, Jr's imprisonment by Crouch, Sr. Crouch, Sr. had modified her memory, which is why that information was difficult to obtain. Hermione capturing and holding Rita Skeeter hostage wasn’t really dark, slightly unnerving yes, but not dark. While Hermione did enjoy the action, it was not out of malice, but out of both relief and accomplishment. She managed to catch a person who was illegally using magic because she was an unregistered Animagus, who was using said powers to rudely and nefariously spy on people and their private lives or duties. Hi HPT! Have you ever heard of the theory that Dumbledore used time turner to set everything so that Voldemort could be vanquished forever?
    The idea goes, that the famous infamous deus ex machina at the battle of Hogwarts, where Ron allegedly spoke parseltongue, having memorized it, would be due to Dumbledore actually time jumping from the past to the final battle with a time turner, retrieving the basilisk tooth himself from the chamber of secrets and giving them to Ron and Hermione and then altering their memory so that they thought that they would have actually entered the chamber of secrets by Ron speaking parseltongue he memorized from listening Harry speaking in his dreams. Dumbledore as the most powerful wizard who ever lived 100 % sure would have felt curiosity towards this extremely rare and dangerous magical artifact he possessed. He intensively studied the future and learned that the only timeline in which Voldemort would be defeated would be the one we read.
    Throughout the books Rowling made very clear that:
    a) Parseltongue can only be inherited, so Ron couldn't have possibly have learned it
    b) chamber of secrets required a opening command from a parseltongue, not just any random hissing noise memorized by a 17 year old wizard
    c) chamber of secret was sealed by the strongest professors of Hogwarts after the second book, so parseltongue alone couldn't have even opened it
    We know Dumbledore did plot Harry's life and he certainly did plot it in VERY strange way:
    1) As he knew he was a horcrux, he never had to reason to expect anything from Harry and thus, caring whether he attends Hogwarts or where does he live his childhood wouldn't really matter, yet he especially insisted Harry would be left to the worst possible place a child could be left into, despite of knowing his life would have to end for Voldemort's demise.
    2) Letting him face the most inhumane enemies every school year ever since he attended Hogwarts for no apparent reason. As the principal of Hogwarts and the most powerful wizard of his era he could have prevented almost every threat Harry ever ventured into, but instead he chose to let Harry to travel through five fantasy novels before personally involving him into the Horcrux hunt, which he had zero reasons to do.
    3) actively helping Harry himself to mischief by literally gifting him one of the three deathly hallows he possessed, letting Sirius mail him Firebarnd etc...
    4) Despite of his powers, he didn't even attempt to defend himself from death eaters when him and Harry landed at Hogwarts in the 6th book, letting the whole scenario to happen which led to Snape eventually killing him, which was exactly which needed to happen for the 7th book to happen.
    5) We already learned at the 7th book that whole Harry's life was planned to his death with the resurrection stone and Snape's memories, so we know Dumbledore did plan his life from the beginning just to let Voldemort personally kill Harry for the exact reason to the Horcrux in him to be destroyed.
    Dumbledore was a benevolent spirit, so as the most powerful wizard in the history he would have desired to use his powers for good, meaning the destruction of the ultimate evil, which Voldemort represented.
    Rowling proved herself to be so flawlessly brilliant writer she simply couldn't have written this level of deus ex machina to the book. Either it was an inexplicable writer's error and laziness, or she wrote the deepest secret backstory to the book ever in the history of writing: the true mastermind of the book carefully studying the future and learning that the only theoretically possible way Voldemort could be eradicated would be if everything would be done in very precise certain way? What if Dumbledore studied the time turner just to learn that the only theoretical way in which Voldemort could be slain would be if EVERYTHING happened in this very, very bizarre way? And I mean, if you are anybody with a time turner you'd just chase your personal life goals like kiss your crush and get lots of money, but if you were the literal Dumbledore - the greatest wizard ever to have lived, you'd use it to study its greatest potential, which would be to study the future to eradicate the evil from the world. There's no reason why wouldn't he have used the artifact for exactly this purpose.
    What do you think?

      It's not a plot hole to assume that Dumbledore was even more powerful that he let others know, but it is terrible plot hole to assume that the written version of Ron Weasley speaking parseltongue would be the real truth.

While she did blackmail Rita, you completely left out the part where she tells them that she put an unbreakable charm on the jar so that Rita couldn't transform back into being human, but it doesn't say ANYTHING about whether or not there are holes in the jar for air, and if the jar is unbreakable, Rita would be safer in it than out.
    Definitely wouldn't say that she did nothing wrong, but you're doing some Olympic level leaps to assume that Rita could have died in that jar.

    Dumbledore‘s brother tell us a little bit when Harry into the town and is under the protection in his bar. His sister had killed their mother and needed to be handled because she was a malidictus. His father never explained why he attacked the Muggles that had abused the six year old that made her this way her magic into self. The reason being she would be sent to Saint Mungo for the rest of your life because of the statute of secrecy because she can’t control her magic. so wizards ruled then Dumbledore wouldn’t have to worry about that aspect of things. These boys who saw Ariana do magic and then burst through into their backyard and tried to force her to do it again had ruined the family. Really Dumbledore should’ve just let Aberforth leave school and take care of his sister and then Dumbledore go earn gold and make sure the two of them never had to fend for themselves that they had plenty of money. You're not allowed to use magic outside of school until 17. Harry was kind of an exception, first book he releases a boa constrictor from the zoo, and Dudly ends up in the snakes aquarium. That was unintentional. 2nd Dobby made a cake float over the visitors the Dursleys were trying to impress. So, not his fault. In the 5th book he uses the patronus charm to save him and Dudly, the ministry did a hearing on that, and since he was protecting himself and his cousin, he was cleared of charges. He blew his aunt up, unintentionally. His anger was getting the better of him, and sometimes a young wizard can't help what happens when your emotions take over.
