Thanks. Me too, I have it in the pocket right now with CR123A battery. Its just great to know that you can pretty much put anything you come across in it and it will work. ;-)
I clicked the link you have on the description but I am confused with the different style codes. Style 14514 and Style 14512. They have a diffferent price and I don't know why. Do you know the difference between these 2 styles? Thanks.
Great review Ferfal. I'd much rather see a quality 35 minute video like this, than a rushed 5 or 6 minute video. I liked your suggested upgrades too, and one I'd like to see more of, is some sort of ability to recharge the batteries while in the housing. Have a port to plug into and hook to a small solar panel during the day. A little off topic here, can you do a review on that little orange flashlight you had in your survival kits I seen in a video? Also, are you still making and selling those kits? I looked on your site, but I couldn't find them. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Thanks. Will do. Yes, a rechargable option would be great. It would be a bit hard to execute along with the use of normal batteries though. Streamlight and Surefire have some rechargables, and I think Fenix is making some as well using a microUSB port. I'm happy enough though with something that offers this kind of versatility. Somewhere, somehow, you're likely to get your hands on at least a single AA, AAA or Cr123A battery. ;-)

Its pretty great. As I said in the video, Id' love it if Streamlight made one with a Zebra light form factor with that same multi battery compartment, along with replacing the blue LED with a UV LED and maybe a slightly brighter high mode. That would be a beast of a flashlight.
Around 26:00 in video you mention that streamlight didn't mention the use of an AA battery... But the sheet you held up near the start of the video listing estimated hours of light showed the use of AA batteries.
The only nice thing about this light is that it got IR, red and blue light but the brightness is really bad. I will stick with my Zebralight H52. If i need a IR strobe i will just buy one. 55 lumens is way to low.
Its not jsut IR, its tough as nail, milspec tough and it has the ability to use AA , AAA and CR12A. Still the H52 is one heck of a light and my current EDC.
Please understand that this was created for the military. If the military needed something that gives out a lot of light, it would probably be a weapon light mounted on rifle. Please note that people tend to shoot at a light source in a tactical situation. A high lumen headlamp worn by a soldier is an invitation for bad guys to shoot the soldier in the head.
NGMonocrom it sure is Ripoff Britain. But then we still have Poundland which is a thrift store for food, toiletries and DIY stuff. They won't be selling Streamlight so i'll have to settle for their £1 glow sticks....
Tyrone Walker They are $70, and stay away from them. The switch mechanism is microsoldered to the board and the way the button mechanism works it will break off when you need the most. I know this, because it happened to me.
+Adam Bodford conversely, I've had the original mini CR123 model for about 5 years. I use it weekly, and it is as new. Battery life is long. The only improvement I'd make is to have a last setting memory so if you were on high and turn it off, it would start on hi when turned back on. It's a great light.
Get a Zebralight H52 instead it takes AA and its 300 lumens for 50min on the strongest, 54 lumens for 7.5 hours on medium and 2.9 lumens for 4 Days on low and the best thing is that you han even 2 sub levels on each brightness.
I've images of troops with this unit clipped to their helmets in the Sandbox. I figure if it will survive them, surely it will survive me!
Fancy light. Pretty neat. Exciting.
Yes they are, second to none.
Ordered mine the other day. Should be here tomorrow.
Great review! I prefer the cr123 batteries.......more output and long shelf life. The AA is more common tho....

I just realised this video is eight years old. Can I ask if you still think this is the best one? And how does it compare to the ProTac 90?
This looks great. Seems like a suped-up version of the Streamlight ProTac 1L-1AA that I have. It's so expensive though... £100!
Thanks. It looks and sounds very good, I will go and have a look at them.

Nice toy for the gadgeteer!
I agrre with you now. It looks like the best flashlight

Streamlight doesn't mention AAA, just CR123 and AA.
Great product but in 2017 any idea of low cost option with AA battery ?
Awesome video !!! Awesome product!
While I agree that he quality and feature set is impressive. I think that any "best prepper flashlight" need to take an AA battery.
It takes AA too. Hell even AAA.
Any experience using a rechargeable AA Ni-MH on this product? What would happen if I use that battery on this headlamp?
I use rechargeable and works great

TheModernSurvivalist Sure but 55 lumens is not worth shit when your trying to make your way if your moving a bit fast.

GREAT REVIEW
why the heck is this item like more than £100 in the UK...?
***** i bet it is.... we always get ripped off here in the UK.
No offense, but your nation rips you guys off on taxes, import fees, and even more taxes added on top of those taxes.
NGMonocrom it sure is Ripoff Britain. But then we still have Poundland which is a thrift store for food, toiletries and DIY stuff. They won't be selling Streamlight so i'll have to settle for their £1 glow sticks....
NGMonocrom
Maybe they should go throw tea off of cargo ships into the harbor... It worked out last time someone did it ;D
You can get them for around £60 in the uk
What do they cost$$?

You‘re talking about „Power“ by Max. 60 Lumen? 😂
Aww i'd get it if it was AA
It takes AA and CR123.
Not high on the lumen scale though...
