    @13:05 this is the Hotel Dieu
    It formely is the oldest hospital in Lyon until it was turned into a luxury mall where you can wander. Restaurant, Lounge bars and stores and simple spots to chill.

    Seeing Place Bellecour again made me smile. I studied in Lyon last summer and will visit again in June to see friends that I made and to eat at Le Garet was closed for vacation during my stay. The brochet is a pike....it is very boney and the easiest way to prepare it is to make quenelles.

Miss it like mad but back to visit this summer 😄, another good place for you to try is the vieux Lyon in the old town on the cobbles, I’ve had some fantastic meals at that place it’s a real hidden gem! @5:27 this looks like Pâté en Croûte. This is basically a kind of brioche filled with various meat. And this one is with Foie Gras so it is a Richelieu variant of the Paté en Croûte. With Cassoulet this has to be one of the most complex dish to make.

For pastries I mostly wander around until I see a good spot lol there are some really good ones in Les Halles Paul Bocuse though. Hi! Thank you for making this video! Everything looks amazing :) I'm planning to go to Lyon later this year and I'm wondering what measures restaurants are taking regarding the pandemic? Do they still take your temperature? Do you need to show that you are vaccinated? I would like to know what are the protocols 🙏

    • @stephaneats3944
      @stephaneats3944  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! You need to be vaccinated to eat at any restaurant in France. You will need a "passe sanitaire" which is fairly simple to apply for. It's pretty much like our QR code here. The cool thing is that the pass can then be used in all of Europe 😊 Hope that helps!

    • @stephaneats3944
      @stephaneats3944  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Completely depends on the restaurant. If the spot is super popular, I would def recommend a reservation. Most casual bistros however are pretty relaxed, you can normally just walk in and have a seat (just a side note, in French bistro culture, you sit down wherever there's a table and the waiter comes to you). Hope that helps a little 😊

      I am a French chef living in Los Angeles but I’m originally from Lyon. The last restaurant la Brasserie George you don’t need a reservation. Specially on a weeknight or lunch .Saturday and Sunday lunch are very busy though so you might or you wait. It s funny Rue Tupin where ‘bouchon Tupin is located was the prostitute quarters in the 60 and 70’s. I used to walk by them on my way to work.
      They were mostly housewives working few days to make ends meet at the end of the month 😊
