And I have decided to do my research project about the effect of scaling time histories on the behavior of a structure (most likely bridges). I just started, so the objective of my subject is not very clear yet. I just wanted to ask if you have any recommendations about subjects that may be interesting to do more research on.

I feel confused here that the time histories which are used as INPUT to structures are to be scaled to the target RESPONSE spectrum of the structures. Why's that? It would sound more logic to me if these time histories are to be scaled to some 'target INPUT time history' other than target RESPONSE spectrum. Thanks.
