Great review! I bought 2 of these for my boys to use live and record with Arturia, MainStage, Logic, Omnisphere, TAL-U-NO-LX, Native Instruments etc in Pro Tools & Logic! Love how they sound and work, built well and LOVE the price point! Great way to get my boys learning signal flow and basic recording techniques! Thanks again!!

This little thing is amazing. I just received yesterday. I output my Reason software from an M-Audio Profire 610 into UMC202HD via XLR connection. I'm amazed how great this sounds for the price. I let a few people hear the quality and we're like wow! I've tried all types of economical and expensive USB cards and sound quality was not that great at all. Bought one off Ebay for only 50 dollars. Best investment I've made in a long time.
    Buy it...It's worth it...trust me.

Behringer has had a very bad time, when they used very crappy componants, say the Composer 2200 to name one (when was it? End 1990s?), but they made their name, something like 25 years ago, with one of the most awesome low budget modules ever made, the Composer 2000 (build after a Focusrite dual compressor. The studio I worked back then had both and most favored the Behringer, which was 1/3rd of the price of the Focusrite). I still got 2 of those oldies and I'm so glad to have a couple of those, I use them for almost everything! I havent checked out Behringer for a long time, but now I need an IO-interface, I think I'm going to this one a go, after hearing your review. Very good review, btw. Well detailed and professional sounding story. Thanks a lot, mate! :)

I have a slew of older tube amps. How would I go about connecting them to this? I am a total beginner and was told I needed a cab sim like a Two Notes Torpedo to connect to a usb interface. Can I use this instead from amp to laptop? Also, do Ineed an additional cab sim if I am simply running a guitar to this?

Is there a 4 input xlr version?? I'm using a UCA 202 interface with Eurorack802 mixer and Behringer C2 condensor cardiods in ORTF position. GREAT sound on this combo when recording on my Macbook Pro laptop as just want a couple of extra inputs for xlr IF I add a pair of omni directionals into the mix. Unfortunately the UCA 202 is only limited to 48khz digital recording

I know this is an old vid, but could you help with a lil something.
I'm a guitarist (who isn't these days, right?) but I'm kinda looking for an all in one solution, or near as. I play both acoustic and electric. I'm also gearing up for some YT content (gaming and such) and feel I will have much more options and over all better experience with XLR mics.
I understand that XLR mics (some at least) need phantom power, So recording acoustic sessions wouldn't be an issue with this (or a similar interface) but how would I use an electric axe with something like this? Would I need a preamp and lead to this, or can I 'plug and play'?
If a preamp would be needed, could you recommend anything? I'm really stuck, I've been playing for years on tweekers amp ('kickers') and a 4x12in 16 ohm cab and head (Heads currently blow a trans on it, ordering some new ones soonish). But I've never recorded anything at all.
Much appreciated if you're able to help, no offence taken if you're unable or simply don't have the time too.

Haha, I have a ATH-M50 white version and initially I don't under why they have high reviews until I hook them into my recent Behringer 1202FX mixer's audio monitoring port. The sounds quality is amazon and audio feedback from headphone is crystal clear. Anyway, the 1202FX is also highly recommended as $90 price tag in amazon. I use it as a Karaoke interface and it is much better than many graceful Karaoke houses I have been. Next time I have a need to buy an interface, I will include this into consideration.

    • @axelmorisson

Works with the free ASIO4All , but has some drivers-recently made compatible with windows 10 too. Don't know about Macs but people say it's plug and play there. On Win 10, ASIO4All and its own drivers make the trick work. Even without any drivers it works on Win 10 - as an external (and pretty decent) sound card.

    Hello mate,
    can you help me out?
I am more into critical listening and NOT into producing/mixing/editing.
I recently built new PC rig with realtec ALC 1150 audio chip and ordered Presonus Eris E4.5 monitors.
So i want to improve listening music on this setup and considering some affordable USB DAC for my system. Can you shed some light on this? I am interested in better depth, resolution and sound stage recreation than built in realtec chip.
There are so many audio interface DACs to choose and i am kinda lost here.
    Behringer, Focusrite,Tascam,Steinberg,Alesis and so on.
    thanx for your input mate
    cheers

I'm in a rough position with college and life in general but it's fueled me into creating bits and pieces of cool guitar rifts and lyrics. I don't have the equipment to produce quality audio on my own and free music theory resources are all over the place and don't feel like I'm progressing. I'm too far in and too much in debt to change schools and get an audio engineering degree so I've reached out to every record label I could think of of all my favorite bands and offered to work to free if they could farm me with skills to become a producer to better write and mix songs. I don't know where to even start besides taking long shots emailing these record labels. I've been playing guitar for a little over a year and songwriting even less. But with my current situation and state of mind I believe at at my prime and voicing music in a completely different but still relatable way a wide spectrum of people could connect too. Some of the best music I've listened to came from when the artist were at their lowest so I dont want to let up the opportunity where I I have so much emotion to express. I just dont know where to begin.

Somebody please advise what is different with the 204 model?

    • @ToothlessInKentucky
      @ToothlessInKentucky 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Well, I found out a good reason to AVOID using the 202 model- it's simply NOT Windows 10 compatible. It may run under Win10 for a little while, then the drivers fail. Re-installs, reboots of drivers.... A pain in the ass under Win10. So take my word for it, don't get the UMC202HD if you ever plan on running Windows 10 - no work good. I read that it works good with Windows 7 though. I now wonder if the 204 model makes any claims to be Windows 10 compatible or not. I feel I thru away $100 on a black box that only works whenever it feels like it. I got ripped off. We are talking about Win10 here... it's already been out there a few weeks now Behringer - Why no fully working drivers?

You're a joke, Hwg... People are not born with all knowledge and the majority of people on this planet don't know what an audio interface is, let alone what it does. The question Andy asked is perfectly reasonable. Andy, you can connect them to this interface. You connect the interface to your PC via a USB cable and then connect your LSR305's to the main outputs on the back of the interface with TRS cables.

@@jeffrey_george yes it works on windows 10. The drivers trip out from time to time. When I open up studio one the daw doesn't recognize it sometimes. I have two different drivers for this interface so when it does that I just reinstall. The sound is crispy and clean when it acts right though.

I ordered 1 today for electric guitar playing. Just to be sure it won't be clipping/crackling from the raw, high frequencies (high Hz) input sound waves from the guitar's humbuckers, I also bought the Behringer DI 400-P to put in front of the interface (i.e. you plug the guitar in that little device that itself plugs into the UMC interface's Input. That little electronics block is 31$ CDN.
I wanted a Focusrite Solo Generation2 USB interface (which is 166$ here, but will clip at high gain and/or battery powered humbuckers), but I didn't know how to block high frequencies, because it comes with a direct 1/4'' guitar jack, but all DI frequencies reducers that I know of, have 3 pins output jacks. Check connectors & cables. Make sure you have everything! In all, with all cables & 2 units it cost me $175 CDN on Amazon. canada & I can plug
1- In a normal, home sound system amplifier 2- The AUX of my guitar amplifier (with a RCA STEREO CABLE spliter that I also bought)
In US, it should be cheaper in any case, even with the currency conversion...Good luck. Hope that helped.

Just an update: I received everything except the dual 1/4''/RCA cable (to plug the interface straight into normal home amplifier), but was able to test the unit into my guitar amp. Everything works: Reaper, Guitar Rig 5, Peavy Revalver, Amplitube 3, PodFarm & even Rocksmith 2014 sounds better. Like predicted the interface requires the DI 400-P to control clipping thought.
If you run an Apple PC, you don't need to download a driver, but if you run a Windows PC like me, you need to go on the website of Behringer & download the driver. Weirdly, Amplitube 4 doesn't work with the unit's driver, so I also downloaded ASIOForAll driver fo it & now it works. Unfortunately, TH2 sounds like a crap-toaster with both drivers, but in all, I'm very happy.

Hi Adam, I was signed on under my Grandson's P/W. So I thought I'd reply to your video correctly. I run all Behringer in my home studio. I help back from buying the M-Studio product, glad I did. This product has some great reviews. I plan on ordering it on Black Friday. I'm looking forward to using this new tool.

Why do I feel like this is a filtered review? Oh I know, he 'forgets' to mention that the direct monitoring only plays back mono (meaning if you have a single microphone plugged in you will ONLY hear from the left or right headphone). This device ONLY records mono. I thought this was going to be a big step up from the Xynex 302USB, but it really made little difference and all it did was allow me to plug in an extra mic and have more phantom power . . . I still like its look though . . . but I'm getting a Focusrite Scarlett Solo.

There are actually many disadvantages to the Scarlett Solo: It's quite a bit more expensive, the outputs are unbalanced, it doesn't have input pads, one less XLR input, no separate knobs for direct monitoring vs regular monitoring, the list goes on. For the *same price* as a Scarlett Solo you're interested in, you could get a Behringer UMC404HD, which has more I/O, higher resolution audio, better Preamps (in my opinion), and more onboard functionality. It's the same price as the Scarlett Solo, and almost $100 less than the next up in the range, the 6i6, yet still has more functionality than even that. For my setup, I use the higher-end UMC1820 paired with Behringer's ADA 8200 extension unit, and get many more inputs and outputs, more functionality, and better Mic Pres (again, my opinion) than the Scarlett 18i20...that's two rack units and more functionality than the Scarlett for the exact same price. I'm probably coming off as a fanboy, but I genuinely just want to help you out, dude. No need to spend that much money when there's better for less.

Last point, recording mono comes with the territory. With most professional/prosumer grade gear, you'll need to be recording through two inputs and pan them hard left and right in your DAW to achieve the stereo effect. Alternatively, if you're just trying to monitor a single input, you have to bridge it to mono, which is possible with the UMC404 and higher, but unfortunately not with the 202.

      You Velopod.
I'm just starting to build up a small home studio, and being sixteen with a 4.44 an hour job it's kinda hard. How long have you used these devices... im really torn between going for the 1820 or a less-input ai and idk what to do. I'd would of gone with the 2i2 or the Native instruments version, but i may start recording drums in the near future.
