Every young horses has to learn to look to their handler with respect. Rosie is being educated correctly. Firm, gentle, consistent handling. Bad habits instilled at a young age can be extremely difficult to correct as they grow up! Tim is doing a great job!!
So glad you explained why horses don’t respond to treats - horses can’t plot revenge or do things out of spite. Their brain isn’t designed with a large enough reward center. They understand safety and develop adaptive behaviors… even if those behaviors are inherently unsafe.
Mostly leaving this comment to help your algorithm, but I'd like to share. She's come so far! I don't have a horse I watch this out of a love for horses and entertainment. The tips and advice you shared in this one reminds me of a man in the UK his name is Steve Young. He does horses. I watch many of his videos and he often starts in a stall with dangerous horses, especially. Everything you said, made sense because I've heard it all from him. You are definitely not alone in your methods! Meaning - all the counter advice that you were given was a good teaching opportunity. Proof is in the pudding. Look at the difference in this foal!
I love Steve young too! Both Tim and Steve have learned from years of experience and as you said proof is in the pudding. It's both laughable and sad watching those usually young internet trainers that watched a few videos, maybe went to a clinic and boom now they're a pro trainer. Sad for the horses and the clueless owners that actually send them horses to mess up.
This process allows Tim to learn all about this filly mind and attitude! This kind of handling works....and is so important to all your ones! Affection thru proper handling builds a better bond than indulging in treats that could be handed out at the incorrect time! Better safe than sorry.
She sure didn't look terrorized to me 😂 she was listening to him correctly, and she was standing calmly with her back hoof at rest much of the time. She was paying attention to him, and she wasn't trying to escape or acting flighty at all nor was she acting "terrorized" Do you actually read horse, body language, and understand it? If so, please detail what she was doing that showed she was "terrorized". (Takinga calm step forward when learning to hold up her feet isn't fear or terrorize. It's learning what he's doing in balance. She's just getting started. She's a young horse. She does not yet know to stand still for this, but she's learning.) I think this is a wonderful time to her. She's getting short sessions. And doing this now with her base personality it's going to benefit her in the long run and actually I think it would probably benefit any foul out there to have small sessions like this. Young animals can learn and should learn. She's not a lap puppy she's gonna grow up to be a 1400 pound horse. And she has a very strong and dominant personality. She's simply learning manners. She's not being hurt. Also in the beginning when he is on her right side and he goes to pet her, she shies away a little bit . Notice that he was on her right side and watch how she is when he is in her left, there is a difference. She prefers people on her left at this point, which is not uncommon for horses. He needs to move like he normally would because she has to get used to these kind of movements and day-to-day life. Remember how wild she was.
Her progress is nothing short of amazing! Good job,Tim!
She’s come along beautifully. Setting her up for a successful life.
She's coming along so quickly in such a short period of time! Thanks for sharing her journey with us.

Rosie is a great name for her.

Wow proof in the results. Thnx for showing this
Trust & Respect. Love watching this process. She is going to be amazing.
wow! what a change in expression!
You’re doing a great job. I sure appreciate your videos and horse sense.

you have done a great job with her in a short time
I prefer the name Rodeo! 😊 She earned it! She will be a great horse regardless of her name! ❤
I liked your ruler analogy. I am looking forward to more videos of her.
Great job!
I love these videos of this filly. With any animal you have to set guidelines of behaviour. Horse, cat or dogs the same rules apply.
She is such a beautiful girl. So happy her owners brought her to you!
Love your training methods 😊😊😊😊
The creature who shares an eponymous relationship with Rosie, well if characteristics go with the name, they are in for quite a ride.
Amazing difference.
Huge improvement is right! ❤
❤❤❤
Tim she is so cute I’m sure you can’t resist loving on her a little 😂
Curious how she is with other horses ?
Do you know how has she had her feet trimmed in the past?
She has never had them trimmed.
Yes you can't pet them into being a trained horse those pet horses are harder to train sometimes than the unhandled ones
You still terrorizing that poor little filly.

Love watching the progress of Rosie in professional hands along with the reasoning as always thsnk you 😊 ❤
All these folks should apologize to you
You yanks have weird idea of what terrorism is.
If that filly's being terrorised, I'm a little green man from Mars ...
