    You are super clear, and that's awesome. But this material would be even stronger with real examples of songs and how they were affected by EQ.

      That's coming! This was just an overview of what the components of an EQ are. I also have a video where I EQ every channel in a mix in realtime. If you are interested- you can check that out here th-cam.com/video/I7PlBbYzKwA/w-d-xo.html

    This is the best explanation of EQ in GarageBand that I’ve seen! I could follow your pointer as you were clicking on different icons and that made it easier to follow.
    Thanks dude

    is there a way to hear exactly what's filtering out like in Ozone 9 where you can actually isolate the frequency you'r targeting?

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question- no, this EQ doesn’t have any frequency band solo functions, unfortunately

    what does resonant frequency mean, like relating to the low and high pass filters and Q?

  • @dannyknox4314
    @dannyknox4314 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Colin - thanks for the tips. For the values in the Frequency, Gain and Q - I know I can double click on them and change values by typing in new values but I see them magically changing values with some off-screen wizardry to make the bell widen or shorten - what kind of sorcery is this? Thanks again.

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Danny- Hmmm. I'm not sure I quite understand. Could you tell me more?

    • @dannyknox4314
      @dannyknox4314 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBandGuide - sure - when you show a bell it can be wide at the base and then in some shots it gets very narrow and the numeric values at the bottom change. How do you get the bell at the base to become narrow - I see the numbers rolling higher or lower? I'll see if I can grab a time index and reply. Thanks Colin - either way great content. I hope more people take advantage of this.

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dannyknox4314 I just found the section you are talking about- I don't know why my mouse disappears there! After setting the frequency you want, you can click the numbers set for the Q and drag your mouse up to make it higher (narrower) and down to make it lower (wider). I hope that helps!

      @@TheBandGuide ding, ding, ding - thats it! Thanks Colin - I see other tutorials doing the same thing but no one lets us in on the secret sauce. Cool stuff.

    Did anyone notice the slight non-sync between his voice and lips?
