      @@TheBandGuide I'll let you know when it comes out. I'm sure there are things I could have done better on a technical level, and my production on the next album will be better, but I'm really proud of how it turned out.

    Interesting choice to put the DeEsser after the EQ. Its usually done as part of track maintenance before you get into tone shaping.

    Very interesting. I didn't realize you would use so many plug ins to alter and shape the tone of vocals. All I've been using is EQ and then adding Compression and effects. I would love to see you do a video on shaping the tones on different types of voices.

    excellent video - thanks very much. do you know if garageband has any built-in "plug in delay compensation"? do you have any experience of latency issues with garageband plug ins? cheers

    • @TheBandGuide

      My understanding is GB does have built in delay compensation. This is CRUCIAL. Otherwise, adding plugins could throw tracks timing off from one another. The best way to avoid latency when recording is to have little to no processing in the session (wait for mixing) and/or to monitor through the interfaces direct out (look this up with your interface to see if yours can do it)

    Hi I have a question, is there a way you know to sidechain to an exact kick pattern like a bus would routed to the kick. As I have kickstart and shaperbox but can only do basic pumping sidechain as you can’t route it to another chanel in GarageBand. Any help would be much appreciated?

    should i start off with a softer or harsher compressor? cause i usually use like 2-3 and im a bit confused on which comes where

    • @TheBandGuide

      Good question! If I'm stacking compressors, I typically use a faster compressor first to trim off the biggest peaks then a slower compressor second to gently compress

  • @chucksaeger7500

    What does comp mean on that track header? I keep hearing this but haven’t figured out the context.

      Great question! In this case it is indicated that this is the "Comp" track where we compiled all her best takes from multiple takes into the final vocal

    Sir I want to ask you something I use garage band in mac but I hate midi track so I export in wav file and import it as a audio but why the all gargband instruments are in the sterio I want them to a in Mono how doni do that

    • @TheBandGuide

      Any export from GarageBand will always be stereo. That's really no problem though since mono just means both ears are hearing the same thing equally. So a stereo track that is mono isn't any different- just the same exact thing in both left and right ears. The only downside is the extra space it takes on your computer from having 2 audio files instead of 1!

    • @IAMSWARAJ

      @@TheBandGuide the lead vocals are can be stereo should we mix always in mono but not background vocals( while mixing )

    why eq after reverb? it's before, no?

    • @doktordrift948

      No. The echoes, relections, tails, resonance and modulations of a reverb will alter the balance of frequencies. Some things will ring out more, or less, sustain more, or less, get muddy, or clear, feedback and completely change the way your frequencies fit around your other sounds or instruments in your mix. If you carefullt tuned the balance with an EQ, before a reverb, you'll mess it all up again! So, get your verb on first and then clean it up after with 1 EQ.

  • @guitarplayer5932

    too much emphasis on mixing, plugins etc, concentrate on writing good songs, good performance is 10 times more important, the vast majority of songs i have heard by amateurs have horrible weak lifeless flat vocals and serious timing issues
