This is Nitika Thakur starting HP gk series in which we will cover hp geography, art and culture of Himachal Pradesh, administration of hp, ancient medivial and modern history of himachal Pradesh and district profile of Himachal Pradesh .
Valleys are the important feature of Himachal Pradesh. Physiographically they are the places where human civilisation has flourished in this mountainous region. Some of the important valleys found in himachal Pradesh are given below :
Satluj Valley : A long valley has been formed by the satluj river from Shipki to Bilaspur .
Kiarda-dun Valley : This valley is situated in the south-eastern corner of the state . It is also known as Paonta Valley .
Kullu Valley : This is broad open valley formed by the Beas river between Mandi and Larji.
Kangra Valley : This is an extensive dun-type valley located between tha dhauladhar range in the north and the shivalik hills in the south .
Balh Valley : This is also known as Sundernagar valley and is broad open dun type valley between an off shoot of the Shimla ridge in the north and shivalik hills in the south .
