Is the Forza rear wing necessary? I know it's for downforce on the rear wheels but can you be competitive at the upper level without it?

in open class racing you can get by without a wang, however I think it will be hard to make it work in S + class. I have some wangless builds in A class that are competetive but not against a good driver in an OP car

Lower classes you can avoid it. Might not be an optimal build but it’ll be alright. As mentioned, higher classes they’re basically needed to get the grip levels.

Do you always start tuning the gearbox with 6.10 on the final drive?

Yes if I can! Some cars it doesn’t work (not enough top speed maxing out 6th gear) but if I can, I do it.
