There are of course a range of issues ranging from the game crashing out to replays not saving properly. However the upgrade system within the game for me brings about an issue I hadn't really thought about too much.

Aren't spec races supposed to all have the same cars with no upgrades? Upgrades should be left for the PI class races where it's up to the player to pick their most competetive car for the class.
Edit: so this was apparently the spotlight event for the early access? In that case you'd have an entire week to tune the cars if you wish, or play the spec races with no upgrades allowed as I expected. Personally, I think that's a good mix but idk
Yes however I haven’t found upgrades to be that beneficial in spec races. I race pretty much just touring and GT with stock cars. I can stay very competitive. Just have to tune them
@@UnrelatedNonsense you can always tune AND upgrade. This is definitely a problem.
If you manage to keep up with faster cars, good on you, but you should be winning or racing against harder opponents if that's the case
The sptlight car series is under open. Currently no restrictions, so theoretically you can upgrade all the way to max. When I saw that, I haven't bothered with it. Then again after seeing the regular open hoppers, I've avoided those too and just stuck to spec series racing. At least the regular hopper has a class restriction you know to build the car to.

If it is a spotlight car series, then this isn't a problem imo. I guess the intention is for you to use the car throughout the week in the career events designed for it, and rivals, and then show off the build you've got in multiplayer when you're done. If that doesn't interest you then that's why the other events exist.
It'd be a problem if you had random events with random cars you had no time to upgrade so you had to be lucky and already own it, but this isn't that.
Clearly the tuning differences are an issue nobody could possibly ever have anticipated.
With each new Forza title the devs challenge themselves to find cheeky new ways to make us say wtf
relax, those were open series.. where people can upgrade cards to match the class score.. .which makes some cars better and some worse.. because of HP and weight ratio..
I like fighting not to be last then fighting up to the podium and upgrading between races

The car upgrade system is just not well thought out. I really don't understand why they changed.
They did it better a decade ago with FM2 and 3, car levels gave you discounts on parts, and bonuses
It's still infinitely more preferable to having to run a fucking script to farm points on Blue Moon Bay on GT7.

This was the open series I believe, the spec series gives a selection of cars that are all evenly upgraded and can’t upgrade them and are all equal 👍
Yes, my mistake. The spec series have been mostly even, although there's definitely still better cars than others.

@@Super_GTyeah with a tune, as in psi, camber ect. There’s a clear difference of spec racer who are tuned vs not. Night and day actually.
Forza tune app is wonderful btw. Super easy to use. I use a lot of setups from FM7 for track tunes and fix anything I don’t like with sliders (over/under steer) ect.
Just make sure race tires are 32-34psi warm. You do want to use FM2023 tire models vs FM7

so you are telling me that in a spec series there are different PI cars in the same lobby. That's like someone turning up to an F2 race with a F1 engine in the back in an F2 car.

The upgrade system has been changed in the update that rolled out today. Car parts unlock at a much lower level now.

Spec races should only be tunes and not upgrades to avoid this issue. The GTX series was this way and it was great! I think the idea behind this upgrade system was that a year from now a lot of the cars are leveled up etc. It still makes it too hard for new players to get into the game to be honest. I think they should give you tokens or something for career and multiplayer race rewards based on your placement that you can use for car levels. This small change would make a big difference and let you set up a car you want to use while you do other stuff
Yup imagine someone giving the game a try in a year or two after seeing so many great reviews of the launch, just to join multiple lobbies in a row (if said person makes it past the insufferable intro) where 20 people had plenty of time to level up most of their cars to a degree where it doesn't feel like they belong in the same class. That just ain't happening 💀
It's time for Turn10 to get their shit together, their games arguably have been downgrades after downgrades since 2016...
They are this wasn’t a spec race he made a mistake this was an open race.
In a few months new players will be discouraged and not have much fun if at all. System definitely needs changing

Skill issue
The horizon driver's have joined us that's where the biggest issue developed.
It was really good pre official release for the people that pre ordered.
Also just a letdown of a car selection and old models from a decade ago plus.
They need to take the game seriously or have a huuuugeeeee game patch worth 20+gb to fix things
Somehow the developers got the wrong memo and designed a Pokémon game, only changing the theme to cars halfway through when they got the right one.

The way leveling each car works should have never applied to MP. It's a disaster and the #1 reason I'll never consider this game. It didn't even enter the ring with GT Sport lol.
Agree completely, have open tuning/upgrade for MP. Separate garage for MP cars with no PI costs.
On PC sometimes the world will disappear from under you and you're just racing in space
Had that issue too with fm7, road amd walls disappeared and I had to rely on the minimap 😭
Half of the fun I had on Forza Horizon 5 was building cars to meet to requisites of each race, find the right car and tune it on the way I like to drive it, this Car Leveling is a very weird design.
If they wanna make the game work, they have to change that. Car Points I find nice tho, the fact I'm not spending, but just allocating, weird they force you to grind in one side but not on the other..
The upgrades turned your car into an apache helicopter, based on those shadows.
This game is hot garbage and I'm glad I wound up avoiding it. My fears were confirmed and this appears to be yet another miserable installment in this addled, aging, repackaged game. Gran Turismo is my home for the foreseeable future.
Partly why I'm focusing on the SP career and featured cups before I go near multiplayer. At least that way I'll have a fair number of cars at a reasonable level to take into the multiplayer side of things. And for cars that pop up quite often that the builders cup doesn't use, I take them into rivals and level them up that way as you get tonnes of car XP and money doing rivals.

Don't buy it, play it on gamepass, or wait a year or 2 and get it for 10

saw one video yesterday with a guy in a A class lobby, there were P class cars in there as well. the game just looks broken, and all these rules with upgrades, im staying away from this hot mess.
Everyone crying about it but Im having lots of fun. Different preferences I guess. Would def recommend playing on game pass first to make sure you like it before buying full game
The game is nice but empty AF. You've basically got multiplayer, rivals where you can try to beat other player's ghosts and multiplayer Vs bots.
I'm still playing it a lot but the game obviously lacks a lot of content that will be added later. For example the drift and drag setups that are actually useless.

I agree you should be able to upgrade separately in multi player. However there are plenty of spec races.
the AI driving assists thing really annoys me. the other day i was starting a multiplayer race and some player's car rammed me into a wall the very first second of the race and completely ruined my chances of being competitive for the rest of the race. im okay with it in freeplay but in multiplayer it just rams into other players like they dont exist (just like the AI in single player do).
Can you at least level up a car that you are renting? You couldn't ever earn credits on a rented car in FM7

The multiplayer format is great and FRR is better than ever, but the game is so unpolished it harms the experience 😢. I've been loving it though
There’s loads of main issues with this game. People who side swipe you down the straights but don’t get penalised is a big one.
Man yes this is my issue too,as someone that used mostly speed builds, this has been pissing me off so much, it's so dirty because the straights are the only advantage you have with a speed build and people know that so they door bang you off the track

I kinda like that you start out with nothing. It adds this feeling of you don't NEED first place. Just outpace what you can. I enjoy tuning and the progression. We seriously need to be careful with how much criticism we give with the new features they gave us.
Back 4 Blood started off with an amazing idea. A roguelite-FPS-Deckbuilder. After a bunch of players complained, the game turned into a FPS-Deckbuilder, completely losing the roguelite and progression aspect of a run, because players didn't like how their L4D replacement had mid run progression. They completely removed it and the game flat out died.
Community feedback is great, but dangerous. I think if we complain too much about how "progression is bad" in this scenario, they may not read into it and they'll just remove it all together. No more progression in multiplayer. We're going in a great direction as of now, lets not try and tell them its bad. Maybe give some fixes rather than "People are higher level in their cars and they beat me. I don't like it."
I think the best suggestion we can give is FIX MATCHMAKING. Prioritize keeping the same class with the same class. Make the rating more important and flexible. Make safety rating more strict and penalties "smarter."
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, push for fixing matchmaking, not removing or destroying what progression they gave us.

My issue is how much the safety rating goes up and down. Mine dropped from s to b from one race, granted I was annoyed and maybe smashed a not very nice guy off, but getting it back is insane. Every time I've gained a level, I get smashed into and I get the penalty and dropped a level again.
It also goes down if you’re corner cutting. So you need to drive clean and stay on track
@@dannnnn496 I do, I had eventually gotten to A, I was going round the outside as two cars were on the inside, someone decided to go straight and take me with them, I got a 4.5 second penalty and dropped to b again, the system needs tweaked.
@dannnnn496 I had a guy spin out in front of me, completely unavoidable and i t boned him. I got a 2 second penalty for it and my safety rating dropped from s to b. The system is broken.
Me too man. If someone is trying to take me out I return the favor, and I’m always the one that gets penalized.

Yeah the multiplayer in forza doesn't seem to be serious or competitive at all.
This isnt a spec hopper. There are spec hoppers (GT, Touring, and spotlight) where builds are preset and only tuning is allowed, and open hoppers (PI class and spotlight) where upgrades are allowed. This was the spotlight open hopper during week one.
Please explain difference between tuning and upgrading. (I think i know just by the naming but Jic) I thought in Spec multiplayer (GT, Touring) you couldnt change the cars at all apart from livery.
@@markmacken1upgrading would be adding/changing parts to increase power etc whereas tuning is adjusting tyre pressures and suspension stiffness among other things

@@Randomii666for spec lobbies the parts on the car are decided by the game, you can't put something else on the car. So if a restrictor is part of the balancing of the division, it will be on the car
The biggest problem is that users can't create races or race series. You have to play whatever selection T10 gives you that week, with 25 or 30 mins between races (but actually hours if you're waiting for a specific event). Many of the races force default cars, so if you've upgraded and tuned the car it's returned to default. There's entry rules for each car, with some cars allowed more PI, some with ballast added - if you want to tune offline you have to know the rules of every online race for the cars, which is impossible. If you buy and tune a specific car it may well never be usable online. The Safety Ratings/penalties are useless too - everyone is shunting with impunity. It's shunt or be shunted - if you race fair you'll be abused - and there's no 'no collisions'/ghost events. Avoid online, and the career mode (boring, few car choices, no using 1 car with different builds) and Rivals (exit Rivals to tune!) is all that's left. Some of the achi's are total grinds, and few will get £10k from tune/design sales achi', especially as the game will be dead soon, and fully dead once it's removed from GP.
I knew the Achilles heel of this game would be the car leveling system the second I saw it. No idea how they didn't see it would be a bad idea. All they needed to do was poll community members about the system and they'd have their answer whether to implement it or not...

This leveling system was not implemented to improve gameplay. It is here just to force you spend more time in game so gamepass will make MS more money. They dont even care if its you playing or if the game drives itself, its just time you need to pay for gamepass.

My favourite part of Forza is that it pushed me to finally give simracing a go. RFactor 2 is getting new, easy to pick up online mode with safety and driver rating and i’ve been having brilliant fun. I really wanted to love Forza, but for me, I was getting 60 fps with raytracing on and DLSS on balanced in single player, but online was low res, low detail with horrible framerates. The new nvidia drivers solved framerate issues, but the game still run in low settings. This game wasn’t ready for prime time.
I was really looking forward to FM8…another franchise that ends up disappointing

The main issue I have is that they elected to not allow the ability to add AI cars in a private multiplayer game. That is how I always played FM4 and I had no idea they had removed it in 7 and now this iteration. Steam denied my refund as well once I discovered this.

My friend didn’t buy it until a week after I did. I just screwed around with wheel settings, free play and career mode until he picked it up and then we created a private multiplayer game.
I did not anticipate that it wouldn’t be available available so I didn’t go looking for it immediately when I purchased the game
I've got wrecked 2 times in one race today. The game though thought it was my fault both times and gave me a 6.45 penalty in total. Both crashes weren't my fault. Both times the other guy braked way to late and landed in my car. I went down from a S to a B safety ranking. I'm pissed. (I'm currently back to an A rating)

The penalties for collisions in this game seem to be pretty bad from what I can tell
I do not agree with this criticism, because in real race tuned cars would just smoke stocked ones, and the progression system, especially for newer players, would give them time to understand how a car works and which parts for which circumstance are necessary.
The penalty system needs some work for sure. But tuning in races is fun. It just gives you that RPG feel, where when you spend enough time with your "character" in that case car. You can feel the progression and the upgrades you make on it. Certainly something I like in this game more than any other racer!

I find that the car level system is fun, but only in career mode. Going through a cup with a level 1 car actually has you understanding how the car behaves and you get to make interesting decisions as to what to upgrade with a limited amount of money. But outside of career mode, yeah, it is more of a nuisance than a fun mechanic and having things locked up to level 50 is painful when career only gets you to 20-25.
Looks like super GT is having the same problem as me with the game continually crashing. Last night, I played for a couple of hours and it crashed 5 times. 3 times after tuning my car, time wheel just spinning for ever so had to reset. And twice, in the middle of a race.
It happened a few times before the update, but after it seems a lot worse. I could barely finish a race last night without crashing. (The Xbox, not me)
Anyone else having these issues?
It would be kind of cool if they did the full sized races, but categorized each players car level so you are only really racing against the people in the same car level as you. I hope that made sense lol
That's what Spec series is for. Open series is designed for the player to tune and bring in any car they modify themselves up to that class level.
Spec series is designed for players to guarantee a more even playing field.
Forza is a right mess. I’m not a Sony fan boy I have both consoles don’t jump down my next. It’s awful. Clean racing doesn’t happen and I’m ranked high in safety rating. Penalties are awful and braking and throttle seem laggy after the update
Maybe before you enter a hopper, you just test drive the car a little and level it up that way.
My issue with this game so far is all the "content creators" just absolutly shitting on this games chest. This perspective is awful and every one of this guys videos titles are so surface level. If the game is SOOO bad then stop monotizing yourself around it. I have a strange feeling you wont. This game is sooo bad poor me, boo hoo, you should be ashamed of the way you are making a living.

FM8 looks bad on consoles especially on my Series S and mid range gaming PCs. Sometimes it looks like a game from the Xbox 360 era, but that's just one of many issues
The game has tremendous potential, but for me, the physics are a deal breaker. As it stands, the cars just don't behave the way real cars do. The information from the road through the tires feels vague, and the cars slide a little more than irl. Everything feels mushy and imprecise. It's just my opinion, so fan boys, please don't get offended.

Tying progression to cars just doesn't make sense to me. Yes, progression should be in the game and I think it is good for games like this. But just make it a really broad account wide progression with just a simple generic currency and level. You wanna race in a super high tier series? Better be level XX with plenty of credits to spare. Wanna do some lower league stuff to get started? Invest some credits at beginner level and have a competetive car straight away for that series.
I was hoping you'd found time for the GT7 Nordschleife race, it was a real banger. I know Forza is new and I'm not saying it's a terrible game, there are definitely a few interesting ideas going for it, but some of the decisions (like having tuning in "spec" series) are incredibly confusing to say the least.
Forza better GT7 is done…online Forza I gave up on gt7 online the PSN servers are freaking trash…Sony needs to address it.
Gt7 is far from done an update was just released last week that fixed the server issue and a big content update will proably arrive soon
Main issue, Players have no idea of motorsport rule. They get angry when overtaken and ram you just because the game allows it, there is no server with assist off so you have player doing stupid line and weird braking with almost o impact on the outcome.
I'm enjoying forza, especially multiplayer. I'd like to have seen a stats page though showing how many races and podiums you have.
Driver: murder another driver
FM stewards: what happened?
Driver: miss breaking point and goes off track by 1 pixel
GT7 stewards: 3 hours penalty
My biggest issue is having a full time job makes this game that much harder to play. I think the devs haven’t taken people with jobs into account as we only get a few times a week to play at most, which means people will slowly stop playing the game as they can’t keep up

My first ever multiplayer race in this earlier... Did the whole practice qualify blah blah blah.. The race starts and my arms teleport into the sky and i get a birds eye view of everyone else INCLUDING my car drive off around the first corner. All the cars came back but mine never drove past ever again.
I think the idea of the car level system is great in career mode. I also think separating upgrade currency from car purchase currency (car points) is a great idea. But given this game/s multiplayer identifies you by your safety and skill ratings, it's ridiculous that you have to grind a car just to make it competitive in a performance class. In MP every car you own should have every upgrade available to it so it just boils down to building, tuning, and skill, not grinding for unlocks. Ugh.

I loved the first week viper spotlight, because of the aspects you critizised - the way it makes you start with a level 1 car and gradually level it up to a grid-dominator was very satisfying for me. Took me back to early racing games with the whole start out weak, work your way up mentality, in miniature form (it only took 5-10 races). And the next time S class opens roll around, you have a dodge viper to bring, that you've already made memories with!
The upgrade system although still existing, has been altered in the uodate. The levels you need to reach for getting things open are lower now.
As players all play morenof thr open calsses ( whatnyour playing here ) mote players should have cars they have uograded.
One if the reasons spec series exosts is for a more guaranteed palying field.
Open classes are designed for tuners to use whay ever car they choose to bring in.

Because it's racing. Not an RPG...Removes so much of the skill and validates bad drivers by using "grinding" instead of skill acquisition.

Most people can't drive. Forcing them to level stock cars makes it worst.
Then you have the unbalance nature of people who already leveled the car being leagues above others.
It literally turned into Pokemon jsut with car parts instead of Attacks and evolutions

The car levels and car part unlocks is fun and all for career but its absolutely abysmal for everything else that isnt racing in stock cars. Building up cars and racing them is the core game and forcing me to waste time leveling it enough just flat out sucks. There is nothing fun about it outside of career mode

I have an s safety rating and 4000 skill rating and have qualified in 3-7th range and still have not had a race where I have ran every lap without getting sent to the shadow realm
Forza just isn’t the passion project GT is. That’s really it. It can still be enjoyed but imo doesn’t hold up
Umm.. the sooner you return to your once unequalled coverage of GT7 the sooner the main issue will be resolved.
The thing you pointed as being a disadvantage of the game I consider a big plus. If you're new to the car you should learn it, while staying behind people, who are racing. It doesn't take that long to level a car. The exploit should be patched.

@@gamersplaygroundliquidm3th526 I was completely fine with leveling my car by racing. Of course, I was 10th at best at first but than slowly worked my way up. I really enjoy this system but I'm afraid that T10 might change it due to all complaints.

I actually like the carpg mechanic but i just wish it wasnt as bloated as it is, theres so many cars in the game the amount of time needee to upgrade them all makes no sense, it would make sense to have all the aero, handling and tires be unlocked furst as you get use to the car rhen power upgrades at the end but with less levels

Would be fairer if self drive wasn't an option and we went back to fully credits based upgrade system.
They really need to fix the general color, full clear daylight is too dark yet the track is too bright in other areas.

An another problem is that penalties aren't hard enough. Had multiple games where the one with most the penalties won. Got 6s won buy 14s.

try out the wide bodykit for the 2019 M5, it deletes the entire interoir so you are just floating and can see the road and the fact the car has no engine or anything hahahaha

i can't even use my own cars in multiplayer... for example, i can only participate in R, P and Touring Car races and even though i have my own Civic, my own Porsche(R tuned) and Skyline with should be a S rated car, i always have to rent a car

It's been almost 2 weeks and they still haven't fixed a single thing! Every time when i turn on the game i need to setup my wheel, sound in the multiplayer is broken, FPS has ADHD etc.
yea on race start i have no audio for 1st and 2nd gear, but then fixes itself
and at the end of the race around 10 meters from the finish line my FPS tanks to 17. every. single. time
the games an insulting mess, there is an update live now though, im ready for it to fix nothing but break more things
Forza Touring is great but we need more GT cars for FORZA GT.
