Thank you! With your help I was able to figure out how to use my generator during a power outage to get my sump pump going so my basement didn’t flood!
Sounds like it was a close call. I hope all went good in the basement. We got over 4" but luckily not in the basement or house. I’m glad it was helpful and thank you for the kind comment. Please give this video a thumbs up, subscribe if you haven't already and share my channel to help it grow. It would be greatly appreciated! Take care.
Brad, great video; well done! We have the 7000 watt dual-fuel gennie [from COSTCO back in 2018] for the whole house. I had a wonderful retired electrician friend install a transfer switch. When the power goes out this is what I do: 1) I wheel the gennie to a small outdoor shed, 2) open the breaker panel and turn ALL THE HOUSE BREAKERS OFF INCLUDING THE MAIN BREAKER, 3) Plug 30 AMP cord into transfer box, 4) Plug other end of 30 Amp cord into THE gennie, 5) Hook the propane hose to the gennie, 6) START the gennie) 7) Go to the switch box. Switches will be in the LINE POSITION [meaning power coming into the house from the power company] at the bottom in the switch box. START by flipping the switches from LINE [on the bottom] to GEN {GENERATOR] at the top. My buddy said to wait 10 to 15 seconds before you flip on the next switch so as to NOT over burden the generator. Necessary? He's been my pal for 15 years. His say-so is all I need to do it as he said. Stay well Brad...and thanks!
Thank you so much !! Very easy steps to follow. I ran my generator on gas until it died on its own so gas shouldn't go bad and ruin my generator carburator....right???? I hope

You have a bad carburetor from fuel going bad inside it (the carburetor) from sitting to long without being used. You will need to rebuild or replace it.

Very easy to understand for the non-mechanical person.
Thanks! Just scored a 9300 watt version off of craigslist to run my backup power transfer switch.
Nice!
